Dad
Now the theory of Satanism is involved in worshipping Satan, correct? While in belief, or "theory" rather, Satan was created by God, and cast out of heaven when he wanted to be God himself. So, technically speaking, isn't Satanism another far off branch of believing in God? *ponders*

So, technically speaking, isn't Satanism another far off branch of believing in God?[/quote'] You're talking about Lucifer. Thus, this topic should be about Luciferianism. Lucifer was the first angel, who was cast out of Heaven for trying to usurp the throne of God, and become God himself. So yes, Luciferianism does believe in God, just does not worship Him. EDIT: They feel Lucifer should be God, and thus worship him as one. They also see Lucifer as a symbol of the never ending quest for wisdom. I don't feel like explaining more, so click the following links. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luciferianismhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucifer
CinnamonStar
Depends which Satanism you're talking about.Theistic Satanism involves a deity but LaVeyan is an Atheist religion. The name just comes from Satan as a literary figure like in Paradise Lost. I just know about LaVeyan though, not so familiar with all the Theistic branches. Well from my guesses they probably don't include any other deity than just Satan. So no Yahweh, Odin, Marduk, whatever. Because Theistic Satanism is monotheistic as far as I know, but there could be branches that consider Satan the "right" god and Yahwhe "evil" maybe? But yeah it is another branch believing in a god. But if you mean the Judeo-Christian one then I'd say they're a reverse version of Judeo-Christianity and maybe other religions too, IDK how much they include there. Since they're a left-hand path religion. EDIT: Well about Lucifer it's kind of hard to tell with most of the gods or angels... But they've been put together many times right? Just that Lucifer as the bearer of light is... well a "lightier" side. The light as wisdom and enlightenment, whatever that means.

Aximil
One of my friends was a heavy Christian believer. Even one of those ones that reads the bible. I asked him "What did Satan do that is wrong?" and all that he could come up with is "He told Adam and Eve to eat an apple." Then he realized what a dick God is by looking at all his acts of smiting. He's no longer a Christian.

I used to actually be a member of the satanic thing just to freak people out. Devil Worshiping and Satanism are two different things COMPLETELY. Satanism is simply the belief that you should put yourself above all others at all times. It has nothing to do with harming other people, in fact it tells you that you should not harm others unless they are intentionally standing between you and your goal. So, literally speaking, Satanism is really just Narcissistic Atheism. Devil Worshiping (dumb people acting stupid) is the literal worship of Satan the Devil King. Usually these people will do acid, sit in their room all week long hanging out on teh internet, and read the satanic bible sporadically in between these activities. In rare occasions they become the vocalist of an over the top anti-christian death Metal band (see Deicide). Here's a link if you're interested in learning about Satanism: http://www.dpjs.co.uk/sell.html If you're interested in Devil Worshiping, I'd suggest you go to Hot Topic and buy some plastic fangs, fake blood, and then go next-door to the costume shop and buy the most "shocking" thing you can find. EDIT: It's also a well-known FACT that Blacks/Asians/Mexicans are INCAPABLE of being Devil-Worshipers, because The Devil more closely associated with white people. He's no longer a Christian. Well in Christian cosmology Satan/Lucifer (depends on scriptures/translations and stuff) is the embodiment of evilness. It's how to not do it according to it but not in Luciferianism. An antagonist entity is often used in multiple religions, many of them include one example that goes against their god(s).Personally I don't think there are 100% good or 100% evil gods. There are just some that I see as more morally correct and good to follow but it's all a matter of perspective. People pick a god and adjust him/her/it to their lives. Also Sethianism guys. Seth as the first embodiment of the king of darkness.(ironically the heir of the LaVeyan Satan Church broke up with it and went to Berlin to lead the Sethian Left-Hand Path Movement :)) (In this topic Lucifer = Judeo-Christian Lucifer. I'm not talking about the Roman morning star... but I could.=D)

So it's more common to refer to that particular form of Satanism as Satanism, seeing as Devil Worshipers are generally considered to be the ignorant members of Satanism. Yankee
*facepalm* If you belive in Satan, you have to belive in God. If you belive in God, you have to belive in Satan. It's as simple as that. I have a better question. Would God be as good as he is without Satan? When he made man kind, he wanted them to have a choice for who they chose to love. But he only got that when Satan went against him. So..Say Satan stayed a good Jew. What would God have done? Would we all have been mindless drones drivin by a all knowing "God"? Yes. ;)
Doomboi
[spoiler=The muslim story behind satan (not lucifer, he's mythological) (don't go all racist on me)]satan was once a spirit, God rewarded him with living among the angels. When God created man and told the faeries to bow down to him because he was superior, satan said "He's made of earth and I'm made made of fire. I'm superior to him. Why isn't he bowing to me?". So God cast him out for his arrogance.

CinnamonStar
Go ask the Roman Pagans who they believe Lucifer is.He was the morning star, the equivalent of Phosphorus before his name was stained. On that note Lucifer is not the devil, he's a fallen angel in Judeo-Christian cosmology, but he's often equaled to Satan in some scriptures. Probably depends on translations as well as people's views on it. Euronyme: Eh there's a difference... Jesus was a human so more likely to have existed than Lucifer who was an angel. Now the question is whether he was really the way he's described and if he was a charlatan or moral advisor.
