What about children in need that are dying from starvation?

Right' date=' because we should totally care about children dying of starvation in 3rd world countries, rite?

[/quote']

Exactly

Yes' date=' yes we should.

[/quote']

No we shouldnt. I live in a 3rd world country and Im not starving. The people who are, on the other hand, need help. But it shouldnt be another government helping. In this recession this country's econmoy has actually grown and we have more than enough money to help feed the hungry of our country. The problem is government here is f***ed up and takes huge part of it bribing politicians and other pointless things.

Actually' date=' you have a good argument Xander. I can't really tell you, but I can tell you to think about it if you were one of them. You wouldn't want to die of starvation. You would want someone to help you and your family and everyone else dying from lack of food.

[/quote']

Of course, youd want the government to help you. Shelters are a nice option. Its governments fault. If people have earned their own money they could just burn it and it wouldnt matter cause its theirs. State funds on the other hand, can not.

Both sides are right-

Spending money on fireworks is definitely the last thing we need, even if it was meant to raise spirits We ARE in a recession, after all. l also agree: lt's just another day people.

HOWEVER-

It's a new year, A fresh start. A TIME to celebrate. Sure you may not feel this way. But don't ruin it for others, that's not your place whatsoever. Try to enjoy yourself, because if you don't, who will do it for you?

With that, i'd like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. Please have a good time.

I don't really understand why you're talking about wasting money via fireworks if you can change nothing. Of course, this sucks a lot, but live with it. Thank unexisting God you're in a 1st world country (I'm not, I'm in Romania) and "Put your hands in the air and shake them like you just don't care".

Hurray! New Year!

Enjoy your life, and enjoy your New Year. A New Year is more than another year, it is a symbol of a fresh start, a new try, and a brand new 365 days of life to look forward to. Do you REALLY think that isn't something to celebrate?

As for the "Orphans need that money!" argument, not everything is going to be solved by using money to work on it. You can't cure every disease, you can't give a home to every person in the world. The country has and is already doing everything they can to help issues like those, and there is really nothing else you can do about it.

For those who think the New Year is pointless, you are looking at it the wrong way. If everyone were to look at a New Year the way it was intended to be looked at, which is a new start and a new try, then everyone might be able to do so.

You get more days, more of life's discoveries, and more adventures and adversities to overcome. Enjoy, but also be ready.
