The other day I was watching Race to Whitch Mountain. Before I say anything, yes it's a Disney movie -- But Disney's gotten a lot more violent with their movies :D Anyway, Sarah(female alien) has the ability of [1]telepathy, saying that we can't do it because most humans haven't learned to use their full brain capacity(YCM's a perfect example). And Seth(male alien) has the ability of [2]changing his molecular density. It also brings up the other point of how [3]extra-terrestrials could possibly look exactly like humans. So discuss the 3 points from the movie that I brought up.

Quiet Yankee, that movie was actually alright.

But umm... Disney has actually gotten less violent. Have you ever seen ANY episode of Tom and Jerry? ._." or Tex Avery? Even some Mickey Mouse episodes were brutal.

Race to Witch Mountain was a work of Fiction.

Yet it raised many scientific points that could be plausible.

*Changes molicular density just because I want it that way*

Totally.

I see these powers as..useless? Why would I wanna read people's minds? Lets face it, it would basically be like seeing pr0n 24/7.

Those aren't movies or exciting though. Now Icy' date=' Yankee, stop spamming.

Umm... Tom and Jerry is very exciting. What are you talking about? And you dictate to me about spamming? Im not saying you're wrong, but that did hurt. As I didn't spam.

I can only respond to [3] as, the Human Shape for current intents and purposes is quite a reasonable one. And it takes to use a lot of positions easily accessible for what we need. Due to this innate thing, the Humanoid shape (as it's called) is just simply... Practical.

Reading minds = stupid

But changing your molecular density is awesome.

In conclusion,

Magic > Science

+1 post count for you, one more second you could've been with a girlfriend, owait

No really discuss these points people.

EDIT:

FYI:

Telepathy=Moving objects with your mind AND reading other people's minds'.

Changing molecular density=Phasing through objects or withstanding the most powerful impacts.

No' date=' i'm being serious. What is the point of being psychic? It really would be nothing but a pr0n fest, or seeing things you really don't care to see.

As for the molicular stuff..really? Just..really?

[/quote']

If you plan on doing absolutely nothing with your powers other than standing in a group of frat dudes, then, yes, it's pretty useless.

But, do the benefits of being psychic really need to be explained.

The ability to extract information from someone without having to try to talk it out of him is invaluable.

As for the molecular 'stuff'. You're essentially immortal. A terribly useless trait, for sure.

It's been a while since I've been here, but are comments like "YCM's a perfect example" commonplace?

Point 1 is bull, because we do use 100% of our brain.

Slightly confused by Point 2. What are you claiming? That somehow, humans could evolve the capacity to change their molecular density? I don't even know how to respond to that, for fear of making myself stupid.

Point 3 is technically possible, I suppose, but there is absolutely no reason to assume or expect or even dream so.

So what's scientific about this topic, anyway?

@Chaos: No' date=' we hardly use the extent of our brains.

No by themselves, but with some kind of scientific research and other stuff like that.

Why would we have no reason?

All points mentioned have to do with science.

I could go on, but I doubt you're going to take the time to read any of those, so it would be pointless.

Sure, it could theoretically be possible with high technology, notably nanomachines, but you could say that about almost everything to the point where it becomes pointless even to discuss it.

We have no reason to assume extraterrestrials would be humanoid for the same reasons that we have no reason to assume that God exists: because there is no evidence to either support it.

So basically' date=' somebody said that we only use 10% of our brains, but scientists say we use more. I agree with that, but we don't use all.

If you say.

We have reason, think about abductions and crop circles and such.

[/quote']

Like I thought, you didn't even read it. Throughout the day, we use 100% of our brain. It's asinine to think otherwise.

How old are you?

Again, no proof. There is no hard evidence for abductions, and crop circles are hoaxes.

I think that we use some of our brain for the process of thinking' date=' the rest is used for memory. That is what I think, I am no scientist.

[/quote']

Then learn about it, if you aren't sure. Don't just assume, especially since you have pretty much anything you would want to know at your fingertips. Don't be content being ignorant when you can be so much more.

Oh, and have you ever done an experiment before? Ever used the scientific method in school? Then you're a scientist, whether you knew it or wanted to be or not.

Mods don't spam. They *garbled text*.

Chaos Pudding... yeah. 8)

I fell prey to the myth that we don't use our full brain capacity. Thanks for proving me otherwise.
