MRi-210
All of the monsters in this archetype - Poltergeists - have the same basic effect, but each has a (generally) specific support card that acts as a secondary effect. There are also a lot of general support cards for this archetype posted here, as well as a few cards that fit the theme of the Poltergeist series but don't deal specifically with Poltergeists. Please give me your input here; this is my first full custom archetype, and I'm afraid that some of the support cards might be a bit overpowered. Poltergeist Series: Friendly PoltergeistWINDLevel: *[Zombie/Effect]When this monster declares an attack, select one monster your opponent controls. Equip that monster to this card and add its ATK and DEF to this card’s ATK and DEF. Return the equipped monster to the opponent’s field after the battle step. Your opponent takes damage equal to this monster’s level x the number of cards sent to the graveyard by this card’s effect x 100.ATK/DEF: 0/0 Playful Poltergeist WINDLevel: **[Zombie/Effect]When this card is removed from the field, send any number of Spell and Trap Cards you control to the graveyard. More likely than not, one of them will be Malevolent or Chaotic Poltergeist and the other(s) will be another Poltergeist, or at the very least, some sort of Zombie or Fiend monster. Poltergeist Support Monsters: Floating Candelabra FIRELevel: ***[Pyro/Union]Once per turn, if you control this card, you can equip it to a face-up “Poltergeist” monster you control OR unequip the Union Equipment and Special Summon it in Attack Position. While equipped to a monster by this card’s effect, the equipped monster gains 200 ATK and DEF. Once per turn, an “Angry Poltergeist” equipped with this card can destroy one face-down card on the field without flipping it. “Angry Poltergeist” cannot attack on the turn this effect is used. (You can only equip 1 Union Monster at a time. If the equipped monster is destroyed, destroy this card instead.)ATK/DEF: 800/200 Knife-Wielding Doll DARKLevel: *[Fiend/Union]Once per turn, if you control this card, you can equip it to a face-up “Poltergeist” monster you control OR unequip the Union Equipment and Special Summon it in Attack Position. Destroy any monster that battles a “Chaotic Poltergeist” equipped with this card at the end of the damage step. Battle damage is calculated normally. (You can only equip 1 Union Monster at a time. If the equipped monster is destroyed, destroy this card instead.)ATK/DEF: 1000/0 Demon SwineDARKLevel: ****[Zombie/Effect]If this card is Special Summoned by the effect of “Legion, Amalgam of Poltergeists,” this monster’s original ATK becomes 2300.ATK/DEF: 1000/1300 Poltergeist Support Spells: Old Upright PianoType: EquipEffect: Change the original DEF of a “Poltergeist” monster to 1800. If this card is equipped to “Playful Poltergeist” and “Playful Poltergeist” is the only monster that you control, return one monster your opponent controls to its owner’s hand. This effect can only be used once per turn. If this card is sent to the graveyard by the effect of a “Poltergeist” monster, inflict an additional 1000 damage to your opponent’s Life Points. Blank Television Set Type: EquipEffect: Change the original DEF of any “Poltergeist” monster to 1000. If this card is equipped to “Crazy Poltergeist,” negate the effects of all Machine and Thunder monsters and prevent them from attacking, with the exception of the equipped “Crazy Poltergeist.” If this card is sent to the graveyard by the effect of a “Poltergeist” monster, inflict an additional 1000 damage to your opponent’s Life Points. Bump in the Night Type: ContinuousEffect: Once per turn, if “Violent Poltergeist” is on the field, change all of your opponent’s monsters to Attack Position. Negate any effects that activate as a result of a Flip Summon triggered by this card’s effect. Haunted House *Type: FieldEffect: Pay 1000 Life Points during each of your End Phases. All Spell and Trap cards in both players’ hands are considered to be Set in their respective Spell and Trap Card Zones. If there are no “Poltergeist” monsters on the field, destroy this card during the End Phase. *Note: There's no doubt that this card is rather overpowered. If anything, it would hit the Forbidden list in real life and make for an interesting challenge for the then-current anime protagonist to overcome. Hallowed Burial GroundType: FieldEffect: Increase the ATK and DEF of all Zombie, Warrior, and Beast-Warrior-type monsters by 300. If this card is destroyed as a result of another Field Card being played, you may Special Summon as many “Poltergeist” monsters from your hand as possible. Restless SpiritsType: NormalEffect: Remove up to 2 cards in your Graveyard from play. Special Summon 1 level-4 or lower “Poltergeist” monster for each of the removed monsters. Flickering LightsType: NormalEffect: If you control one or more “Poltergeist” monsters, reveal all face-down cards on both sides of the field. Flip effects are not activated at this time. Then, both players take the cards they control that were flipped by this effect, shuffle them, and Set them all in different zones. This card is not sent to the graveyard, but once again Set in your Spell and Trap Card zone. Inadequate ExorcismType: Quick-PlayEffect: Remove one “Poltergeist” monster from play. Special Summon it back to the field during your next Main Phase. Eyes in the DarkType: NormalEffect: If you control at least one “Poltergeist” monster, your opponent cannot Set any face-down cards until after your next turn. Poltergeist Support Traps: Poltergeist PrankType: Quick-PlayEffect: Activate only when your opponent has to Draw a card(s) and “Tricky Poltergeist” is face-up on the field. Switch decks with your opponent until the end of your next Draw Phase. Deadly Chandelier Type: NormalEffect: Choose one of the following effects:● Only activate when you control one or more “Poltergeist” monsters and when your opponent Normal Summons or Tribute Summons a monster. Immediately attack the summoned monster with one “Poltergeist” monster of your choice that you control. Regardless of the outcome, your monster cannot be destroyed by the attack and you do not take battle damage. ● Only activate when “Malevolent Poltergeist” is face-up on the field. Inflict 2500 damage to your opponent’s life points. Vengeful SpiritType: NormalEffect: Only activate when one monster on your side of the field is destroyed as a result of battle. Special Summon 1 “Poltergeist” monster from your hand with the same level as the destroyed monster. The monster is destroyed after its next battle. HauntingType: NormalEffect: When your opponent takes control of one of your cards, you may Special Summon one level-4 or lower Poltergeist to the field in face-up attack position. Slamming DoorType: NormalEffect: Activate only when you control one or more “Poltergeist” monsters. Select one monster, shift it to Defense position, and change its original DEF to 3000 until the End Phase. Whispering WallsType: NormalEffect: Only activate if you control one or more “Poltergeist” monsters. Without looking through your opponent’s graveyard, say the name of one Monster Card. If that card exists in your opponent’s Graveyard, deal damage to your opponent’s Life Points equal to half of that monster’s ATK. If that card does not exist in your opponent’s graveyard, destroy all of the monsters you control. Thematic (but not quite Poltergeist Support) cards: Foreshadow (Monster)DARKLevel: *******[Fiend/Effect]When this card is destroyed as a result of battle or by the effect of an Effect Monster, Special Summon one monster from your hand or deck. That monster must immediately declare an attack on the monster that destroyed this card. After the battle, if the card is not destroyed, it is shuffled back into your deck. The summoned monster may not be used as tribute.ATK/DEF: 1000/400 A Spirit for Tribute (Spell)Type: NormalEffect: Reduce the number of Tributes required for the next Tribute Summon by one. Spirit Tag (Trap)Type: NormalEffect: When one monster you control is destroyed as a result of battle, destroy the monster that destroyed it. Both monsters are placed into your Graveyard. Unfinished Business (Trap)Type: NormalEffect: Activate only when a monster that has neither declared an attack nor activated its effect is destroyed while under your control. Special Summon that monster back to your side of the field. Near-Death Experience (trap)Type: Quick-PlayEffect: Activate this card only when your opponent achieves a victory condition in the duel. Remove this card from play. Negate the damage or effect that would have made you lose the duel. If your opponent should have won because your deck has run out of cards, skip your draw phase. Then, move all of the cards in your deck to your graveyard, move all cards on the field that you control into your deck, and reduce your Life Points to 1. The duel resumes beginning with your Draw Phase. This card cannot be used for the rest of the match. Link to comment
jack781217
A nice theme I think. As I was reading the cards, there emerged in my head a haunted house filled with monsters like the one in Dark Spirit of the Silent. But there are simply too many of them that I have no idea where to start commenting. The Union monsters are too restrictive, that they need to be equipped to a specific monster to have the other effect activated. Other than that, I can almost hear the noisiness of your Poltergeists as they do direct damages by sending Spell and Trap Cards to the Graveyard :P Link to comment
