People aren't animals. Yes, I guess we're literally animals. But let's put it this way. A gerbil doesn't sit down with a notepad and contemplate why it exists. That's something people do. Our advanced intellect allows us to separate ourselves from animals. Because unlike animals, it's not programmed in our DNA to kill. People make a conscious decision to do something like that.

 

And I HIGHLY doubt that people will ever run out of the basic necessities for living. I.e. food, water...
