Eragon (Book Series)

I'm not sure if a thread for these books have been made yet. I really don't care. :?

 

Anyone here read these books? The series consists of Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr, and a 4th book to be released in (hopefully) near future. I was always a big fan of dragons and I was hooked on to the book right when I started reading these books. I'm currently re-reading them as well.

 

Discuss. Oh, and don't dare watch the movie for it. It sucked so bad, I'm not even calling it a movie based on the books (it is based on them, but it's so unlike the book).

I read halfway through the book and stopped because it was the school's library book and I had to return it.

 

And I watched the movie. Which it could've been longer but meh it beats reading anyday.

@Eurynome: Agreed. Is there even a title for it? Hopefully, it won't take as long as Brisingr did.

 

@Princess Kitty: The movie wasn't anything liked the book. So bad they can't even make a second one because of it. Plus, the actors sucked in the movie.

All movies who are based off of fictional books suck.

The non-fictional biographies that are made into movies are too boring to watch.

Yeah, very few movies made from books are anything like them. The Outsiders movie was probably the closet movie adaption I'll ever watch.

I spotted a few errors in that movie. But all in all it was okay.

 

Another book that I hope they don't try to turn into a movie is the Warrior Cat Series. I fear that it may suck.

I had to watch the Outsiders movie after I read the book, It was when I was in 8th grade. It was good.

Same. :] I have no idea what's my favorite book in the series is. The author (forgot his name and don't want to look it up) has gotten better writing in each book. I know in the latest one, in one whole paragraph there was like very few sentences. I had to take a breath on some. XD

ZOMG! I love the series... I got about 10-15 minutes into the movie and had to stop watching it before I hurt someone... That was, by far, the worst thing I had ever seen... And I've seen a lot!

I watched the whole thing. And I can't say it was horrible. It just wasn't great. If you never read the book, then it'll be a good movie. However, if you did read the book, then it wouldn't be as good.

Fantastic series, its somewhat cliche, but really well done, very exciting, and I love the way they made the magic work. It's pretty much a dream fantasty novel, it's one of those things that it's like "hey, that's exactly what I want to read"

No. Just no. The movie was bullshit, read the whole book to get the full experience.

I read the first book and half of the second, then dropped the series. The entire thing was just Star Wars in a generic fantasy setting - not in the sense that both cover The Hero's Journey, but in the sense that every single plot element is ripped straight from Star Wars - and the "hero" was infinitely less sympathetic than the "villains".
