Aximil
I text constantly. And my phone is always with me. Something I picked up from my parents. It's so that if one of my friends need something, even if I'm asleep, I'm just a few buttons away. Anyway, I do admit that I'm addicted to texting. But it's not pointless. People still have answering machines(phones), email(computers), and instant messages(on instant messengers when your buddy is offline and you leave them a message to tell them something), right? And about all this "TXTING IS EXPENSIVE!" crap, you're wrong. Just for an extra $5 a month, I get free texting all over the world. Same for anyone that texts me because that's the way it works. There is nothing wrong with texting. Say you can't get to a computer and neither can your buddy. Just text. Say you have to be quiet since something is going on and you need to talk to your buddy. Just text. Say they're out of country or whatever and it will be expensive to call them. Just text. Also, I use proper grammar while texting and I'm still faster than all my friends that shorten words down to stuffs like "im msngn u"
Infinitus
Oh, bloody hell. Texting. I hate texting. It is so annoying how everybody talks about it, facebooking, etc. They sound like they have nothing better to do than to just text "R U THER? ME WUN 2 TLK 2 U"
Silver
Snow is still near where I live. How else do you communicate with your mates out of school in class? Talk to them They're going to be kilometres away' date=' and I'm in a Physics lesson learning things I already know.By 'talk to them', do you propose I scream as loud as I can, hoping they can hear me?[/quote'] No you just talk to your friends that are close to you inb4butIhaveNoFriendsInThatClass. :PThen make new ones if that is the case. inb4tryToDoSomethingMoreProductiveInsteadOfTalkingAboutCr@p. lol I talk to anyone in my classes I can't really talk to many people during classes because they are busy texting the people inches away from them. Is it really that important? My point exactly if there inches away why not just talk to them So we are in the same page. You guys stick to teh internetz. You clearly haven't grasped the concept of texting. ExampleI've just remembered I have to tell my mum I'm coming home late because of an after-school club. Unfortunately, it's double Physics, and she'll be leaving to pick me up in 5 minutes. Instead of making her travel all the way back, I just text her: "After skl club, pick up @ 6. thx".True story. And it shows the marvels of texting. I text because there are no awkward pauses during conversations, and they can't detect the tone of your voice to something. Also, they can respond at any time and don't need to be near the phone to begin with, and we don't interrupt them, allowing them to reply when they feel it is right. It also tends to cost less. Also, if you want to ask something to a group (eg: You forgot to note down the homework, and it's due in next day.). Instead of phoning each person at a time (which wastes both credit and time), just text them all at once. It's way easier. Also, texting has become very popular because more and more people are using it, therefore it's growing into an efficient form of communication. Aximil
DoP--Voicemail says hi. Same thing except with texting they don't have to rack up the phone bill by listening to it or having to wait through the voicemail system.
chrid97
i agree that its dumb but fun. And it also comes in handy if someone cant talk at the moment but can text or if u text in class with ur friends who are in a differnet class or halfway across the room
Dark
Besides the shitty grammar, texting is readily available, when Facebook/MSN/IM requires an internet connection on your phone (which not many people have) or a laptop/computer. I'm sure just about everyone who likes to text in class thinks that not being allowed to is stupid, but you aren't there to do that. Save that for when you are on a long road trip, or maybe at a party 5 feet away from each other. (which for some idiotic reason, is what a lot of people tend to do.)
