Something about the basics.

So, as probably a few of you know, I've been dueling online in Yugioh Network, and as of late, I've been in some embarrassing wrangling over what seems to be an easy knot (and my imperfect knowledge of some aspects of the game helps me a lot here). So here goes.

 

My opponent activates Teleport, trying to summon some Psychic, I chain Oppression. My opponent then activates MST to destroy Oppression - and claims that it is part of the chain ending with Teleport.

 

Is it the case? Or the contrary? Does the activation of MST in this instance create a separate chain (thus, in a previous chain, negating Teleport's effect)? Or is the origin of MST's activation (whether on the field, set the previous turn or earlier, on in your hand) irrelevant?
