That's because our culture has impregnated into our brains that cats&dogs > chicken' date=' pig, cow. Go ask certain other cultures what they think about you eating pigs or whatever.

And it's not "they", it's the few millionaire snotties who can afford it. Which aren't many if you think about it...

 

And Eur eating another species and eating your own species, that's the point people are getting at. The idealistic people say that only humans are capable of such atrocities *ahem*, others say that it's acceptable for some species (some insects when one of them gets born with a physical defect for example) but not for us since we have "developped brains" and should be over that.
