Eeeeek! Eeeeeek! It's a Spider! Kill it! KILL IT!

Wouldn't his word scrutiny mean he would get more clients as he would be able to work is way around the law and keep people out of trouble?

"Word scrutiny"? Not the issue. Obviously. The issue's a lack of understanding of context' date=' much like you just demonstrated. Would it make sense for me to call out an aspiring lawyer for being too "scrutinous"? Asking yourself similar questions should be a prerequisite to your posting from here on in.

I find it stupid that Mother Spider can't be Special Summoned while you have Spells or Traps in your Graveyard. >____>

No that means you only must Have Insects monster in the Graveyard...much like Solidarity works

Since I'm going into Law' date=' I'm training myself to find wording issues using this game. Now, without any presumptions, read both cards:

If you have only 1 original (printed) Type of monster in your Graveyard, face-up monsters you control with the same Type gain 800 ATK.

If you have only Insect-Type monsters in your Graveyard' date=' you can send 2 face-up Defense Position monsters your opponent controls to the Graveyard and Special Summon this card from your hand.[/quote']

Note that the only rulings on Mother Spider in both the OCG and TCG merely state that it can be Normal Summoned. With this, it's a fair assumption that because there are Traps in the Graveyard, and the Traps are not Insect-type monsters, that Traps would stop you from summoning it. The same connection can be made with Spells.

Solidarity is much clearer on what it means, and they could've just copied the wording for Mother Spider if it meant what you said.

I can't imagine you getting many clients.

Care to explain why?

Plus, I've still got 8 years of University before I can even try to take the bar exam. In that time, I'll improve.

Because clients tend to have a habit of taking a preference to being represented with arguments which make sense. Given the history of my life and I should hope yours too, if a man were to approach me and warm me of juggernauts from the core of Mars jumping to Earth and raping me to death tomorrow, I might opt to not take them seriously as patterns of previous past events might not agree with those. Seeing the analogy I'm trying to get across here?

Now, I'll grant that Konami's made some questionable decisions at times, but having an unsupported type's boss monster require its user to dedicate to it a method of having their opponent have two face-up Defense Position monsters without having used Spell and Trap Cards to aid in doing so as well as having it in your opening hand so as to not have previously used Spell or Trap Cards might be plausible if our card pool was radically different, but it isn't.

Given the context of the game and recent sets, what you're suggesting makes very little sense, especially after considering that the contrast between this card's playability were it to work while having Spell and Traps in the Graveyard with the playability of other Archetypes boss or half-boss monsters like Celestia wouldn't be all that large. If anything, Mother Spider'd still be mediocre.

It says if you have Insect-Type monsters...meaning IF you have monsters in the grave...they must only be insect..
