Guest Welche
Welches tips to Rating Cards 1. Give cruel advice. 2. Judge on quality of the idea behind the effect after helping the OCG. 3. Do not say "Bad OCG", nor should you send them to the OCG thread. 4. Give harsh advice. 5. The pic is everything. 6. Card layout needs help, just as everything else does. 7. Have I mentioned give detailed advice? Explanation 1. If you let a card maker off, just because they are new, they will ever learn. I die on the inside when I see a member post "8/10, because your new". You just boosted their ego for no reason. If a member gets positive feedback they think that they have done something right. News to you: they haven't. They posted a bad card and that is all that matters. 2. Although you need to be harsh, you can still congratulate for a good idea. Not all card makers have bad ideas because they have bad card. Rate this part separately. This way they will not quit because they feel unwanted. 3. Sending them to the OCG thread prove your lazy. Do not be lazy when rating cards. They spent a while making it, so you owe the helpful advice. Telling them their OCG sucks is lazy.Do not be lazy when rating cards. They spent a while making it, so you owe the helpful advice. Instead, fix the OCG and try to explain why. This will reinforce the idea into their mind. 4. See 1. 5. Well, its not everything, but it is important. A new card maker needs to learn that most card raters judge solely on the pic, so they need to learn how to find a good one. Also, give them a link to Deviantart, instead of telling them about the site. This will give them easy access to the site. 6. The pic and OCG is generally all people rate. To help a card maker fine tune their skills, help them with the small parts of the cards. Name, type, attribute, circulation, Set ID. These are small things that make all the difference between a good card maker and a newb. 7. See 1.

Guest JoshIcy
Welche... I really want to slap and punch you SO bad for that. If I wasn't in such a nitpicky mood I'd break you in an instant. So instead I'll ask the people of this thread. Should I or should I not point out all the misconceptions in this thread, including the users fallacies?

Guest JoshIcy
Thanks Shattered Sorrow, I will simply refer to Welche's post for the explanations to save time. And my responses will be in blue. Welches tips to Rating Cards 1. Give cruel advice. There's an old adage I grew up with. And that's; "If you've nothing good to say' date=' don't say it". It applies here, as newbies are the ground and foundation of this site. If they do not learn you shall persist in a kind manner and be expected to be the mature ones. If you've nothing good to say, keep it to a mild rate and condense your thoughts as to not be offensive. Your advice are what keeps people active for however long. You know... The ones on this site that actually matter more than me and you? The newbies that bring in new traffic and the like? Yeah. If I see you or anyone giving cruel advice, over some "they won't learn" crap, expect me and the rest of the mods (who's actual goal is to defend these newbies and make it a KIND PLACE for them to be, expect yourself to be out of here so fast your fingers break at the keyboard. This tip was utterly shameful and disgusting. [/color'] 2. Judge on quality of the idea behind the effect after helping the OCG. While this one isn't bad, it's certainly the wrong approach. OCG while I do not recognize it as the rest of Realistic Cards and much of YCM does, I do understand that it's an important aspect in CardMaking. Though one that you can PM people for help, instead of making a public mockery of yourself by being so forward. 3. Do not say "Bad OCG", nor should you send them to the OCG thread. Noo... Fo' reel cuz? No stay, no stay! Geezus. Thanks for pointing out common sense and the like. Not to mention it's already in the rules, albeit rarely enforced; some day it will be cracked down upon. Way to go Sherlock. 4. Give harsh advice. See my response to number 1, only add deeper emphasis and a punch to your face. 5. The pic is everything. No it isn't. The Picture is what gets a person to see a card, rather than in Written Card Form (which is rather easy but without the added bandwidth). The picture is more of a personal touch unique to each cardmaker in some way, regardless of where the image came from. The individual cardmaker chose this image for his/her own purpose. Thus it should remain ONLY as an "I like/don't like, disregard this thing I just wanted to congratz you" kind of thing. Including those for people who make/draw their own image. Shut up about this, seriously. 6. Card layout needs help, just as everything else does. Why you even mention this is mind-boggling. A cards layout like the picture is also unique to the CardMaker and is merely a favoritism/what you like/didnt like thing. Set ID isn't important seeing as you will rarely use it on any Custom Card Program such as YVD, nor will the set makers likely use it. It's far more convenient to just label it as CYCM-0XX or something, and if you know the cards details you can search it out. So again, shut up about this and leave it to the cardmaker on a personal level. If you see something "wrong" with it, that's your own pet peeve not an actual problem. And if you bring up the fact that an image with a zombie attacking would be considered Zombie Support/Monster, I want you to wear a shirt that says "Lacking Common Sense" because if you have to mention it, something is seriously wrong with you. 7. Have I mentioned give detailed advice? See Response 1 and 4, now stick a shoe in your mouth and taste.
