Magic: The Gathering

HORUS

So, yeah. I realize this is a Yu-Gi-Oh forum, and yeah, I do realize I made a topic about Magic in the TCG section. Regardless, discuss Magic, what kind of deck(s) you run, favourite cards, etc., if you play Magic.

I play an Elf Ball deck (uses elf cards like Llanowar Elves, Fyndhorn Elves, Priest of Titania to give me tons of mana that I spend on a Fireball that does enough damage to kill my opponent. Really fast, game ends in 5 or 6 turns.) and I'm working on a Black/Blue zombie deck and I just ordered a bunch of cards I need to make my Treefolk Deck.

Meh, not a hardcore gamer. I just have a deck, a few extra cards, enough to make another deck.

I run a Blue/Black Deck, mainly focused on Blue, as I have Jace Beleren (Planeswalker).

I just play with friends and stuff. Not too serious.

I played a long time ago, stopped due to lack of players. Then started back up not to long ago. Last month I think.

I picked a card up a d I was like "WTF is this complicated crap" and I burned it. Won't be going to that store anytime soon.

I feel tempted to kick you from the RP D:

It was a perfectly good card' date=' why did you burn it? D:

Was it Mire Blight? That card sucks, I would burn every copy I owned if I owned any. I pick basic lands over Mire Blight in Zendikar draft.

Anyway, I play Mono Black Vampires and G/W Felidar Lifegain.

I have a buddy that started playing during Alpha. Man, things were crazy back then. People traded Moxes for crap just because everyone had like 20 of each Mox. He was quitting Magic, and he had 2 Beta Black Lotus. 4 of his friends who still played MtG wanted them, so he did the only fair thing and ripped them both in half and gave each person a half. He never spent more than a few hundred dollars throughout his MtG carrier, so it wasn't like he felt like he was ripping up money. His friends were kinda pissed, I believe, but the thought was kind.

Bet those guys were kicking themselves after finding out much those Black Lotus were worth, eh? (I would've had a heart attack, myself) I have a Beta Bird of Paradise lying around somewhere. I have cards that have old effects like Rampage, Banding, Flanking, and the like.

Nah, Black Lotus was still about $1000 then. They were kicking themselves then.

That reminds of that Chaos card incident once (The one that says throw it up in the air and remove from play whatever it landed on). The guy tore the card into little pieces and sprinkled it on the field - and a piece landed on the guy's deck. Back then, it was legal and the opponent lost because of it. Oh, and this was a BIG tournament. They made a joke card in Unglued calld 'Chaos Confetti' based on that incident.

I heard that the player who tore up his card was the one who lost - he was either altering his deck composition by removing a card from it or was marking his cards by tearing up that particular one, and was disqualified either way.

Then again, I also also heard that it was just an urban legend and never happened anyhow. >_>

It apparently happened, and I can't find the source.

Anyway, I have another one. It was the final round of a large tournament, and a player had Platinum Angel out on the field. He successfully defended it from destruction until the opponent's deck had no more outs to it. The game continued til time was called. Since the player with Platinum Angel had less life when time was called, the head judge declared the match win in favor of the opponent. But Platinum Angel clearly states that the controller of Platinum Angel cannot lose the game, and an opponent cannot win the game. Also, the player with Platinum Angel would have eventually won if the game had been allowed to continue, as the opponent would have eventually decked himself out. Eventually, the decision cost that head judge his job and his right to judge any future Magic game, ever.

In standard I play RDW because that's what my budget allows. Though even if I could afford Jund, I seriously dislike Cascade as a mechanic, and since I'm not aiming for huge tourneys, I don't feel the necessity to run the top stuff in Constructed.

For casual purposes, I play an artifact-combo deck of sorts (Glassdust Hulk as finisher) and mono green tokens. Mycoloth with Doubling Season for 40 Saproling in one upkeep was my moment of glory. :P

My favourite cards, for no particular reason, are Glassdust Hulk, Mycoloth and Ad Nauseam.
