Everywhere in the world, there are huge underground entertainment communities that are hosted by an well known games company, their marvelous engineering gave birth to the Virtual Reality game called 'Youkai Kousen!,' the game warps you to a medieval-futuristic world where people of every age come together, with their main goal to become the 'Battle Champion'. You have come to the age where they finally accept you into their enviroment, as you walk trough the grand halls impressing you with every step you take, after some while of walking you run into a robotic maiden at the registration booth, overlooking a part of the community, with thousands of people walking past eachother. "HELLO YOUNGSTER, IS THIS YOUR FIRST TIME HERE?" The maiden asked, as you said yes she gave you a paper to fill in every aspect of you, to define what your character would look like in the game, without much hessitation you started filling it in... "WELCOME ... I HOPE YOU ENJOY OUR GRAND COMMUNITY"

Personality: Enjoys being a loner, will not take help from anyone unless he will die otherwise. Doesn't laugh...ever...enjoys fighting, when fighting he will become quite brutal and sadistic. If forced to he will kill his opponent, does not care if someone gets injured, will just keep fighting. When he is working with someone else(not likely), he will try to do everything on his own. He will also get very, very angry if you stare at his eyes to long.

Bio: Comes from a run down village, was taught to fight at a very early age. He now only fights for himself, he joined the game hoping to get some good opponents, he believs he will be dissapointed. If he wins the game he will just go and find another tournament to fight in. It is because of this that he is a loner.

Personality: Jason is an optimistic young man. He is quite friendly, only most willing to make friends with those around him. He likes fighting, and action, and has taught himself in the ways of the katana, using a wooden pole for practice of course. He is kind, and caring, but has a short fuse that threatens to explode with unknown power.

Biography: Jason lived the life that every teenager wishes to live. He has a rich CEO father, and a rich lawyer mother, and he buys whatever he wants, whenever he wants. He spends most of his free time buying high tech video games, and playing them. Jason holds in a secret contempt for his parents, for they are hardly ever around. He is really only playing this new game because he thought it looked fun, and he hopes to make new friends throughout the game.

His AI is a tall, muscular african american with a huge scar on his stomach and 1 small one on his left eye, it goes diagonally, and has two different eye colours. He wears black shiny armoured leggings and shoes, the armour on his arms only reach up to 1/3 of his arm size, it has serrated platings and it has a gold trim, the only thing that isn't armored at all is his chest.

 

Battle style: His hands, a mix of kick box and muay thai.

Personality: Kohaku is the one kid everyone knows for always being cheery, yet it could become a problem sometimes. He always tries to help out people the best he can possibly do. Though he knows he will fail he won't give up with giving that something a try.

Biography: Kohaku has been born to a normal family, he has one sister, Seika Ichirou. Kohaku's such a cheerfull kid that he always manages to cause some problem at school, though he can normally get away with it. He and his friends would always go to the local arcade, that is, until they have heard of 'Youkai Kousen!'. Now, instead of going with his friends he parts of to the huge gaming lobby beneath the ground. He makes it a habbit to steal food to survive the day.

Personality: Calina is shy and quiet around people she doesn't trust or doesn't know well, but once one gets through this outer layer of coldness, she has a completely different side. She's friendly, enthusiastic and fun loving. Once you're a friend of Calina's you're a friend for life, a companion to whom she will be fiercley loyal and very protective of. Calina's approach to romance is similar, but she's very quick to love, and tends to form lasting relationships, having just recently ended a two-year long one.

Biography: Calina Celest grew up in a small town a few miles away from Boston for the first twelve years of her life, in this time she learned kick box, to ride horses, which she loves doing. And to act. At the age of twelve however, Calina moved off to New York City, where she has lived ever since. In New York she slowly, but surely made more and more friends, she continued to act, and every so often she would travel out to the surrounding countryside to ride, but something still felt missing from her life. Chris and Calina dated for two years, and it seemed as though they would last forever, Chris had even introduced The girl to another passion. Gaming. However, a few days before their two-years of dating anniversary, Chris moved away from New York. He told Calina that he couldn't handle a long distance relationship and to move on. Months later, Calina is now ready to do that, and is entering this new virtual world partially for the purpose of finding love. And partially for the sheer thrill of this exciting game.

Personality: Machi is very tomboyish, being bold, brash and not interested in the things that most girls her age are interested in. She is assertive when she wants something bad enough. She is almost always on the new online game and takes it rather seriously, but highly values the social aspect of the game. (One last thing: She's bisexual! Add some spice to the pot!)

 

Biography: Machi was born and raised in Thunder Bay, Canada. Being in a middle-high class family, she was spoiled rotten, being the youngest of three sisters. Her eldest sister became distanced from her parents and her middle sister was always out of the house, so Machi was the only one to be the object of her parent's affection. Machi always was a tomboy, most of her friends being boys even up to high school and taking interests in video games and anime. Little to her parent's knowledge, she grew a taste for yuri manga, starting with fanfics involving anime characters, eventually working her way to full doujinshi and published manga. When the game came out, she immediately jumped on it, joining her friends on the game.

His morality does not change with either personality, he tries to be kind with his opponents, and can learn from his defeats

Biography: He is the oldest of three children, having a younger sister and brother, neither who share his interests in activities, so he spends a great deal of his time out, something his parents assumed he did with friends. For the first 10 years he seemed to groom himself in being a loner, never exactly doing much to get along with the other children in his class or martial arts class, however he had two passions, Gaming and martial arts, with the release of the battle system he found a way to combine both, and meet people with his interest as well.

Battle style: Lightfoot - a type of martial arts that allows the user's body to become as light as a feather; upside - Kristina can run much faster, jump higher, and have better reflexes, agility and stealth (if she lands, she practically lands soundless); downside - Lightfoot is not used for combat, so Kristina can't actually fight, though she can do limited close-range comabt (the standard stuff like kicking and punching and defending). If she does get caught in combat, she knows where to jab her enemies so they become paralyzed, which allows her to make a fast escape.

Personality: Kristina is quite friendly, and has very clear ideas on what she considers wrong and right. She can sometimes be forceful in terms of what she wants to do, and if someone challenges her, she won't back down. She doesn't act girly enough (as her friends keep telling her), and examples of it include willing to get dirty, not trying to flirt with boys, etc.

Biography: Kristina has twin older sisters, and the age gap between her and them is 4 years. Her parents are both good earning fashion designers, and from a young age Kristina had picked up on how to look good. When she started going to school, she found it especially easy to talk with boys, and that is where her love for gaming came, as she used to go round to their homes and play on their games consoles. Although she doesn't know how to fight in real life, she has always been fascinated by kung fu, and when she found out about Youkai Kousen through her friends, she became very eager to try it out herself.

Personality: Normally cheery and yet a loner. Usually speaks in short sentences, not bothering with unneccesary things. He gets straight to the point and keeps a cool head, not rushing in normally. He becomes cold and shadowy when in the game however very cocky and speaks alot of trash talk(In AI).

Biography: An Orphan that was brought up seperate and different. He was orphaned by a martial artist and was taught Ninjistsu, the explaination for his skills in AI. He also showed a flair for video games and was england's video game champion at 13, holding the title until present day. When he heard about this he had to jump in to show his skill. He has even hacked slightly giving him a super natural claw.

A beautiful woman with honey-blonde hair, royal-purple eyes, fair skin, half-moon glasses, and a perfect figure. She usually wears a black and red semi-armored jumpsuit that fits to her body while leaving plenty to the imagination.

Battle style: 2 Neo Baretta .22-cal Pistols, Fabrique Nationale F2000 Assault Rifle, Katana, Throwing Knifes, Drunken Fist mixed with ballet and parkour.

Personality: A calm, collected veteran of battle, she sweeps across the battlefield, helping her allies while owning her enemies. She is usually reserved, but will step in when it comes to someone disrespecting her honor or disrepecting a female PC (Player Character). She will toy with guys, but rarely displays any kind of romantic interest in anyone. But, she makes up for that by being quite helpful towards newbs, earning her a reputation in the MMOPRG community as a friend to anyone, whether a hardened dungeon crawler or a first-time player.

Biography: Daniel Andrews is a typical gamer who one day, while starting a new RP, accidentally hit the "female" option. He initially tried to correct it, but found himself interested in playing as a GIRL (Guy In Real Life). Ever since, in MMORPGs, he has played as women, but not always sex objects.

Dominique, his most popular persona, expresses both his inner fanboy and his own views on the gaming community. She is a ballbuster, going after any male PC who chastizes female PCs, but does her protection with finesse and grace. Interestingly, no one besides the moderators and administrators of the RPGs she is in has made the connection that Dominique is a GIRL, but now, Daniel is taking that chance in Youkai Kousen.

Kohaku rapidly finished his homework, dreaming of what he is gonna do Blehh! Who needs homework?.. he thought, refusing to complete the homework he was ordered to make, and put it away in one of the closets on his room, he took his gogles and put it on his forehead "Haha! Now i look even cooler!" Kohaku said as he looked in the mirror, he walked down saying the commonly used words "Bye mom, i'm off to the arcade hall". He swinged open the door, slamming it shut behind him as he left his house "Great! Now to better my time it takes to run to the YK centre..." He said and took off like a rocket.

Kris sighed as he finished 'The fourth wall'. A video game he had finished five times in a week, all on the top difficulty. He sat up on his sofa and walked to the fridge. He opened it and pulled out a can of coke, but when shutting it he saw a notice he had pinned up earlier. Sign up for Youkai Kousen. "Oh yeah, it starts today. Dad, I'm off out!" He shouted too his dad, sleeping. His dad graned back. Kris grabbed a black jacket and walked out the front door of the dojo onto the busy street out side. He walked up to the arcade center and there it was, a poster saying: Sign up here now. Youkai Kousen starts here. Kris opened the door and walked in.

after a long and exhausting day in school, Drake had finally managed to get out without picking another fight at school, one couldn't really tell by his appearance, but he was quite the ruffian, often getting into fights with the Judo club for not joining them, and with the Kendo club for accidentally humiliating them, by fending off their captain on impulse with a reed, but despite what he can do in real life, he still had no social life, and the only place he truly felt alive was at the Arcade. "Finally....peace....and butt kickery."

As Kohaku arrived at the door of the centre he looked at his stop watch "One minute and thirty seconds..." He said puffing, "Yeah, i bettered my record by six seconds!" He said with a cheerful, but somewhat painful tone as he pushed the heavy door with his handpalm. He entered a lift and gone down to the centre, Kohaku knew 'Youkai Kousen!' was gonna be big when he signed up via his computer, but he didn't knew it would be this big as he was astounded by the big halls, that where already seriously populated. He walked up toward the maiden blocking the final entrance to the centre, "Umm... My name is Kohaku Ichirou, i signed up via my computer." Kohaku Ichirou, you said? She searched the aluminium drawers that where located next to her Kohaku Ichirou, Kohaku Ichirou, ... Aha! I found your card, i hope you enjoy your stay at the YKC' Kohaku greedily took the card and entered the gates. "WOAH! It's huge in here!" His already energetic personality had another energy boost and he started to run around the halls in joy.

Machi was finishing up her favourite doujinshi for the fourth time this week: 'Flowers for Flowers'. She closed the book with a pat and sighed. The manga brought up feelings everytime she read it. She never got a chance to meet the writer, but if she could, she would tell her she was a genius.

 

Machi looked around her room. The walls were plastered with so many posters of characters from various animes and manga that if you peel back the layers of posters, one would be able to see what anime she was interested in at the time. It was her sanctum, the place she felt most at peace. She enjoyed the atmosphere in the room for a minute before her cellphone rang with 'Hare Hare Yukai'.

 

"Hello?" She asked.

"Hey Machi? You're gonna be late for the game!" one of her friends said on the other side of the line.

 

Machi immediately hanged up and rushed out of her room.

 

"Crap! I'm gonna be late!" she muttered to herself as she gathered her essentials: a wallet full of money in change, a bottle of Mountain Dew and her MP3 player. She ran as fast as she could to the arcade, making it inside on time. She panted heavily, not being very athletic. She found an empty spot on the wall and leaned on it to catch her breath.

Dominique browsed the giant halls of the virtual reality castle, meeting virtual reality players, and shopping for virtual reality accessories.

Of course, Dominique, or Daniel, as "she" was called in real life, knew that even her perfect proportions of 36-24-36 were fake.

When virtual reality started, the amount of GIRLs (Guys In Real Life) drastically plummetted due to the fact that most of the online crossdressers could act like girls with text, but when it came to mimicking female movements and body language, most of the GIRLs failed, and were exposed.

But Daniel, even with a very average body, was in a Drama class at his high school, and he managed to learn how to act like a girl. In fact, he even went in drag to a Halloween party once, and fooled everyone there, even a friend of his who failed at trying to crossdress.

So Dominique, Daniel's online alterego, waited as others signed in to this mysterious game...

As soon as Kohaku saw a door with 'KOUSEN TERMINAL' he opened it and hopped into the round room, that was darkened by the dark bleu neon lamps on the walls, and he saw 6 seats, there where already 3 seats taken, the people weren't reacting to anything, as they where absorbed into the gaming world. "This is gonna be sooo awesome!" he took his card out of his pocket and took a seat and saw a right-angled small computer screen that had the same size as his card on the left prop of his seat. He placed the card onto the screen and sat relaxed in the seat, suddenly everything turned black and he was warped into the game world, seeing brown coloured muscled arms that where lightly armoured "Woah, i look like one of those kickboxers on tv!" He said, and started wandering around in the virtual world, passing several other people, giving him a strange look.

"So let's see.....card check....giant game system check, Let's do this then." his eyes seem to flare up with enthusiasm as the shy boy at school goes away and the real wild boy known as Drake starts looking at his options. "Let's see if this game is as awesome as they say." the system turns on and he is in the middle of what seems to be a dark void, his muscle mass increasing, and his hair crowing longer and darker."not bad...I could get used to this." his clothes then seem to morph into a mercenaries outfit."How'd it know my profession?"mhe said with a smile as he appeared in what seemed to be a grouping.

Kristina was hastily getting stuck into the game as she entered the virtual world; she had finished school ten minutes ago, and although she had arrived early, she had heavily fussed over her in-game appearance, and having decided words were not enough, she had gone as far drawing and colouring in the diagram. Now though, as the virtual world materialised around her, she looked down at herself and was pleased to see her drawing had paid off - general grey colours with a dab of pink down the left hand side made, in her opinion, a perfect, slightly idolised image. She did not linger for long, and thusly began to explore.
