I have to agree with Kazerak's opinion when it comes to the debate about Normal Monsters. You can't completely write them off as being useless or filler because it completely depends on how you develop your strategy around them. Just as Kazerak mentioned the perfect examples of effective Normal Monsters are the Blue Eyes White Dragon and the Dark Magician. There are so many different effect monsters, spell cards, and trap cards that support these two that you can build an effective deck around them. You might not see these type of decks win tournaments but when you have 89428932893 people using cookie cutter decks like Destiny-L&DD or Monarch decks you can't really fault them. I have far more respect for people who use proper themed decks rather than cookie cutter decks. Normal monsters for fusions aren't so bad either because if you look at when the E-Heroes first came out they were mostly Normal Monsters. It was the balancing of these weak monsters with their fusion counter parts that made them brilliant. To this day they are one of the most versatile and effective deck types out there. They don't win tournaments *cough*cookie cutter decks*cough* but they are still a good deck type by most peoples books.

Anyways, I don't see why the majority of the people on this site need to bash Normal Monsters. I can understand that there isn't much to critique if they just post a thread with 1 Normal Monster but don't bash the card. Just bash the user for not putting more thought into it. In essence people who post a thread with a Normal Monster in it should post other cards that support that Normal Monster or have cards that utilize that Normal Monster for a bigger combination. As long as the effects of the support cards are good then I don't see what's wrong with making Normal Monsters. Quite frankly, I think it requires more originality in creating a deck based around normal monsters because you have to put in double the effort to make them usable.

Yeah, I say Go Normal monsters because the whole idea is to make Spells and Traps around the monsters and to help them. Also what makes normal monsters good is there insane Atk which you seem to get for less sacrifices and less level. So you don't really need to power their Stats up with spells and traps. They are great learning Material! In fact i reckon all the beginners should try making Normal monster and Spells to help them first rather then Jumping into cards super effect cards that have "This monster can't be affected by the effects of your opponents cards". Which kind of card sucks more? A Super powered effect card or a normal monster? I say the Super Power effect monster because it takes the fun and art out of making a deck.

But that's exactly my point!

First off, when people post their cards and make a normal monster, there is often little to no support for that monster. That is what I am talking about. If you make a normal monster and post some support for it, then good on you. But if you just make a simple normal monster with no support whatsoever, you're wasting my time.

And for your other point, that everyone runs CC.

First off, you can't stop people from running what they want to run. They'll do it.

Just be happy that monarchs are taking a HUGE hit in the next format ;)

And also, why make support for normal monsters that aren't going to work, when you can add a whole new dimension to the game with a brand new set with brand new effects?!

According to your first post you said this about Normal Monsters.

Normal monsters are USELESS. Even if they’re for a fusion, kill ‘em. Don’t use them, whatever you do. This kind of thing should be self-explanatory, but it’s funny how you’ll still see people making normal monsters and crying when you give them a 0/10. MAKE A DAMN CARD.

I can only go under the assumption that you hate Normal Monsters and that you discourage people from making them based on this post. :p I'm not targeting you in particular but I've seen a lot of people bash other users for creating a series of Normal Monsters even with support cards. I don't see any reason to discourage people from making Normal Monsters or bashing them for it. Just make the comment that there is nothing to rate other than the image that they didn't make and the little description they give the card. Give them pointers on what they need to do like make support cards.

I'm not trying to make a scene but I'm trying to articulate the point that Normal Monsters have their uses and that they shouldn't be overlooked just because they don't have any beneficial effects. They are good for 3 things - Beat Sticks, Fusion, and Combinations with the proper support cards.

As for Cookie Cutter decks. No, I can't stop people from running them but I will definitely gripe about them. There is a reason why cookie cutter decks is a derogatory term and it's because it shows 0 imagination on the behalf of the person using it. It shows that the person did not put any thought into making a deck of their own and that they are looking for a fast and easy way to win. It's absolutely no fun playing against people who use such decks because you've seen the strategy 32983209302 times. Also, care to elaborate on how Monarchs are taking a hit? Are they being limited or something?

Yeah, it's interesting to see new ideas and new types of monsters that try to revolutionize the game, however, I'm equally impressed with people who can create Normal Monsters with support cards that have really interesting effects and combinations. I still love Dark Magician decks because of the huge amount of support cards for them that give off a large amount of combinations. Personally, I like to play decks that have huge combo potential. It's why I enjoy using E-Hero or D-Hero decks. Nothing feels more satisfying then pulling off a large card combo that makes your opponent's jaw drop.

No no no not a scene ;)

And yes, I did say that.

And I do feel as such, on occasion.

However, if people make a support card for their normal monsters, that's fine with me.

It makes it a much less deal, if you know what I mean.

I still think that effects would be better, but I will agree that in some cases, normals are better.

And yeah, Raiza is getting limited to 1.

Oh, and D-Hero decks are fun ^_^

And thanks Ty for the cleanup :}
