Symbolic Satanism

HORUS

Recommended Posts

THIS IS NOT A RELIGIOUS DEBATE THREAD.

I'm just wondering if anyone else on here considers him or herself to be a symbolic Satanist or nihilist (specifically an existential nihilist).

Symbolic Satanism is not theistic Satanism. Symbolic Satanism is a life philosophy based around adversity to the theistic. It is the celebration of human sin.

Anyone?

In some ways I suppose I am. I don't really celebrate my sinning though. I just overlook the fact that I do it. IMO good and evil is just another thing created by humanity to control it's masses.

As for my religious standpoint. Religious freedom is very important to me, I strongly believe the fact that religion holds a purpose. I don't have to like religion but even I can't overlook the fact that it plays an important part in everything we do.

I wouldn't consider myself a Satanist, not LaVeyan, Symbolic or in any way, but I do include some of its elements into my ideology. And no I'm not going to talk about my religious/ethical/whatever beliefs, let's just say I'm synchretic in many ways.:)

And I'm not proud enough to put lots of "-ism" stuff in front of my name either because everytime I find something there's always enough that puts me off from it.

When I say celebrating sin, I mean human nature.

My Symbolic Satanism is based around some of the principles of LaVeyan Satanism. I think of my ideology as a war against everything you know. I try to be the opposite of what every God-fearing loser is.

I'm a vehement adversary to the Christian church (as Satan means adversary in Hebrew) and I display it every day. I have a shirt that says "God Doesn't Exist", one that says "I <3 Satan", one with a large inverted cross (all three of which are home made), and a Gorgoroth shirt with a prominent red Sigil of Baphomet on the front, as well as a Bathory shirt with the face of a goat on the front and an enormous pentagram on the back, and, of course, several Slayer shirts and a jacket with a Slayer "Hell Awaits" backpatch. I've been reported to my school counselor 3 times for the use of Satanic imagery in school work and for the wearing of my shirts. I spend class time writing down things I hate about people in my classes with a fountain pen and ink in Old English runes and a script I developed. A girl even stormed out of class one time because she was so upset with my God Doesn't Exist shirt.

Wow nice fanboyism...

"War against everything we know"? Oh yeah have fun with that...

(Small correction, Christian churches but that's beside the point.)

And about people who wear this "God doesn't exist" stuff, I always ask myself, which of the over 9000 freaking gods are you talking about? The Christian and Muslim god don't exist (I take them as examples since that's all most of you seem to know about) but Kali, Marduk, Odin, Set, whoever are there?

Meh from what it looks like, I'd say you really don't seem to include that many principles from LaVeyan Satanism.

That's a bit overboard, don't you think? I'm fine with your beliefs (in fact, I'd consider myself a tad like you), but I've never seen a Christian walking around with a Jesus shirt or a Muslim walking around with an Allah... shirt...

FUCK, I SCREWED OVER MY WHOLE POINT!

Now I'm compelled to make a "God Doesn't Exist" shirt. T_T Where are my markers?

Also, I Wiki'd what LeVeyan Satanism is... and it's pretty much being a selfish bastard.

Yeah... anyone remember my sig a few weeks ago?

Everyone on the internet wants to get laid, even though half of them won't.

You have much to learn, young grasshopper.

Not necessarily. I mean, I don't have to get laid, per se. There are other excellent sexual activities to engage in (some of which I very recently was involved in).

I disagree with all Satanism ideaologies, but I disagree with spiritual things. I dislike satanism, because it 'promotes' "Sin", or human nature. But I think that man should strive to prefect his own nature, and Satanism seems to me as rejecting progression because they think pure human nature is good, when it is not completely, and refusing to better yourself, even if bettering your self comes from kissing up to some false god, If everybody thought like a satanist, then we would be stuck in the stone age, we need something to believe in to progress as a species, which humans have, and religion civilizes people. Hypothetical Situation: God says be good, man listens, he becomes a better person. Satanist says 'no', he lives the shitty life he has, instead of creating, doing good, for a god. I am a atheist, but god in my opinion is the embodiment of progression, good, and what humans can become.

HORUS: OH TELL ME ABOUT IT I WANT TO KNOW!!=D Can be Old English runes or smoke symbols, I don't care.:D

Vacillated Eneth, that's an interesting point. But I do believe Satanists can also do good in their own way.

And about the progression part I'm pretty sure the next posts will be something about "BUT TEH INQUISITION, CRUSADES, TERRORISM, TREE-HUGGING RITUALS THAT'S NOT PROGESS!!". Of course it's not but I do believe it depends on the individual. If people choose a philosophy to be good for them and their progress as an individual then it's fine. Because mostly you do something good for yourself, often without a god.

It feels truly good and genuine to do good without trying to go to heaven or whatever.

Also I'm talking religion in general. It has a good effect.

Dude, you didn't read my post.

You are on the internet. If you do not wish to get laid, just leave.

You'll be discriminated against. D;

Interesting you should say that, as Christianity plunged Europe into the Dark Ages that lasted nearly 1400 years.

You can be good without believing in God. Satanists don't believe in being bad, they believe in being good to themselves, but not (figuratively and literally) sacrificing others to do so.

Satanists don't believe in making themselves gods, they believe that there is a god inside you that you should nurture.

Then is it physically or mentally possible for you to restrain yourself from destroying what little hope someone has while nurturing that little god inside of you?

Not believing in God is one thing, but denying the possibility entirely is stupid and ignorant.
