Akira
I refuse to pay £3 for the iPod touch software update, especially considering that iPhone users received it for free, and that those who bought an iPod touch after the update receive it at no extra charge. In my opinion, a software update should be a free courtesy to the end user for being a customer in the first place; it's a different story to installing a new OS entirely, right? I know this is old news, but I'd like to hear your thoughts; do you think Apple can justify charging certain customers for the software update, or are they just being merciless money sucking leeches like all the other corporate giants? Pikachu
You totally don't need an update if you just jailbreak your Ipod Touch, no? But yes, it is a really stupid idea.

Windowlicker
Speaking of Apple in general, my friend's iTunes library became entirely corrupted, and as he buys pretty much all his music from iTunes (Which are the only mainstream music providers that still copyright their music), he had to buy all of his music again, even though he owned most of it. :/ But on topic, I've never even heard of another company that charges for their firmware updates. And I thought Sony were cheap.

Apple still owns the product after you buy it. Microsoft wins. And yes, that sounds ridiculous. An OS patch that you have to pay for? -_- Idiots. Brushfire
They truly are. I just got an email from Apple saying "Hurry! Your iPod Support ends soon. Make sure to buy Apple Protection Plan for full safety". Oh right, so I've already paid £150 for your funking product and now I also have to pay for OS updates and virus protection (and they don't let third-party applications do so)? Bullshit. It's almost as bad as vBulletin and IPB, which make you pay for new versions even AFTER you've paid for your license. Oh, and theme developers charge like $20 per theme as well.
