zzz. alright, think it over then.

how does silent magician work?

first, what is silent magician?

-he's light, so honest and beckoning might be good choices, as they support the light type. youll have to see how the deck develops before determining that, however. you also may want to include shining angel, to search this key card.

-he's a spellcaster, so spellcaster support would probably be awesome. it looks like you tried, but valkyria is meh. why dont i see exemplar? that's probably the single best spellcaster support card.

-he's a level monster, so cards like level up benefit.

-he's got less than 1500 attack, so he's searchable by shining angel and sangan. theoretically you can also inferno reckless summon him. i dont know if that will turn out to be advantageous, but its definitely a property of silent magician to consider.

now lets delve into his effect

-every time your opponent draws cards. now in order to get his effect, you could include cards like chainsaw insect or gift of greed, but this is probably a terrible idea. it'd be far better to use neutral draw cards, like hand destruction and card destruction. the best part is that this can make up your draw engine, as well as help out your silent magician.

-add a spellcounter to this card. now where have we heard that before? can we get some spell counter support here? do we want to make this an endymion build, perhaps? it would certainly put to use those counters. we might even just want to consider an apprentice engine to help give silent counters. but then if we're adding exemplar, we have more people who need counters, dont we? think over how your deck will be designed.

-attack boosting effect. we cant do much with this, unless we want to get reeeaallly sexy with solidarity or something. depends on the rest of the deck.

-generic level monster text. now it says standby phase, which means you do have to protect the silent magician for a turn. some wabokus/roars might not be a bad idea.

now use the parts youve picked up from this analysis to build a good frame. then, just fill in the gaps with some staples and splashable cards, and theoretically you should have a solid deck.

now think about this completed deck. is it good? does it have a draw engine? does it need other engines? like mill? or searching? what elements would help make it more consistent? run quicker, or smoother? add in elements you think will help. cut any that arent helping enough. try and smooth it out to 40-42 cards.

i'm not gonna actually build it though, do some of yer own work.

I'm not asking you to build it. I'm simply asking for rates and fixes.

@UrPost - Okay thanks you've helped a lot. Just got to figure out how to rep people on here. Sorry for making you type out all of that.

Also I have a question.. Wouldn't Level Up! be more easier than letting my opponent draw cards and wait until I have five counters? I have it in the deck.

run level up, but dont depend on it. if you have a solid, neutral draw engine of cards like hand dest and card dest then them drawing isnt a problem because you are too. youre still -1'ing yourself, but the counters would theoretically be worth it. especially if you went with an endymion build. just dont sit there stalling and waiting to draw level up :P

edit:

in order to rep someone, hit the number next to their reputation. that should bring you to their reputation page, where there's a button to "rate this user"

Also want to add Card destruction for Silent LV4 but I dont know what to take out for it.

good start, but remove Miracle Flipper and replace then with defender the magical knight, their protection effect helps keep your casters on the field at the cost of spell counters, and it's light, making honest able to work with it.

your grave is not going to be very full of monsters in this deck, so I would take out a pot, and replace it with a hand destruction.

also, a good trick with this guy is spell power grasp, you place the counter on silent first thing, bumping him up to 1500 on your turn, get another copy out of your deck, and then it will become 2000 min on your opponent's turn, making it hard to attack with the basic monsters in most decks without help.

in addition, if you plan on getting lvl 8 out as soon as possible, your still vulnerable to traps, so run 2 royal decree, and lockdown the traps as soon as/right before you summon lvl 8, to make him much harder to kill. this also creates a spell and trap lockdown in your deck, buying you a large amount of time, and it makes your only threat a card type your running, from the hand discard effects.

but you go for a full lockdown, you might want to remove lvl 8 completely, and instread use lvl 4 and exemplar as a spell-counter storage for defender and then just keep attacking until you win.

i dunno, you dont need two vortexes. drop one for trunade?

i dunno about plaguey. not a necessity.

also, apprentice engine is a term for using apprentice magicians to keep cards on the field. when one is destroyed, you get a miniature toolbox to go through. depending on the situation you could grab crystal seer to draw, old vindictive to kill someone, or even tuners like nights end or frequency. or just another apprentice. like i said, its a good way to maintain field advantage. dunno if its terribly useful to you now, but it needs more testing i would assume.

how is it running now?

Ah, ok.

I haven't tested the updated version, but when I had Miracle Flipper in the deck I won two duels with it..with Honest's help.

And yeah I can drop a lightning for one.
