I do not know much about trolling and it's definition, because YCM is the only forum I've been on and the only time I've ever seen trolling, if it is trolling.

 

However, I think the definition of trolling would be to decieve people around you on your forum/blog/chat/site, into thinking something about you that isn't really true, or something that happened to you that really isn't true. The intentions, however, I am not entirely sure of. I believe they are meant to annoy people, but I am not completely sure of it's execution.

 

I believe that it is to annoy while sticking with your act, then pull a "punch line", so to speak, at the end that reveals your secret and ultimately annoy the living hell out of anyone who fell into the trap. The amount of annoyance could be relative to the amount of time the troll spent into being in character.

Pretty much where my post came from, but I added a bit more and made it sound a tad more fr srs.

Well, I don't know trolling. I suppose that trolling is meant to have a much higher annoyance effect, rather than putting on a persona and then pulling an extremely annoying punch line.

Thankfully, I have never been warned or banned for trolling. I know people that have though, and I've been the one to defend them for the sole reason that... it wasn't trolling.

 

Moderators on YCM seem to think that posting for fun, lying, or joking around is trolling. Get it in your heads; it isn't. In fact, the ONLY people that have actually trolled have been banned for insulting and flaming. Aside from Crab Helmet, of course. That's why it pissed me off when FW called himself the "King of Trolls", because he can't even troll. Oh, Cedefia has trolled quite a bit too.

 

Someone who trolled recently, and knows that he is, is Frunk. And he did it quite well; as he's doing it just to piss people off. Warning/banning people just to watch the lol response... myself included in that. I know where he's going with it, to see if "trolls like being trolled" but... the people he does it to aren't even trolls. >_> Good intention, bad method.

 

/rant... yeah, I could say a lot more but this'll do for now.

That's because I don't troll on the internet. Or at least I don't troll using my definition of trolling. I troll using YCM's definition of trolling, which is really... off.
