Could we live without Fire?

So rusting objects emit light?

Makes sense' date=' as oxidations are reactions with an electron exchange and you get light if a charged electron jumps back to it's original position. So electrons have an important role in both, oxidation and light emission.

So, we would have fire anyway. Sort of...but we would need a microscope...

What the question of this thread should actually be is..."Could we live without toasting our food?"

And I saw a documentary on Discovery that stated "Before we started roasting our food, the human brain was 40% smaller.".

O:

I don't think the reason of brain growth was roasting our food, though.

You sure?

- We needed less calories for the stomach and the immunity system, so they could go into the brain

- We eluded more diseases

- We learned a teachable trait, and one that was actually TAUGHT

- Our jaw became smaller, so the diameter of our more rounded skulls increased

Although, yeah, the greatest increase in human brain was when we started growing animals for food and milk.

IDK if it's been said already but if Greek myths were real' date=' then we couldn't live without fire. They thought there was a fire inside of you that kept you alive. When it went out you were dead. Or maybe Rome said that.

[/quote']

But, the greek myths aren't real.

It's possible, but it would be poor life.

Just a question. Imagine that Greek Myths were real. The primitive people that had just been created by Zeus and Prometheus were forbidden from having fire. What would it be like?

No glass.

No smithing or making of implements.

Only wood as a weapons.

No light sources.

Discuss.

IF Greek myths were real, as said, and fire did not exist, we would NOT be alive.

I did without 2yrs. I'm sure it'd be fine...

That's because you don't need fire where you live Josh' date=' there is a reasonable temperate climate there. [/quote']

I guess? lol. It sucked without any sort of electricity or fire during those 2yrs and I still have regular nightmares. It just doesn't seem impossible to live without it =/

in that case' date=' we would not have the Sun

[/quote']

I think he's speaking as if it were banned, not non-existent.

Besides, the Sun is gas, not fire.

The sun is not a ball of gas, like your mediocre science teacher has informed you but a miasma of plasma, and plasma is technically fire.

And, if Greek myths were real, we'd still have fire. Prometheus fetched it from the gods palace on Olympus and brought it to humans, because his brother Epimetheus, creator of animals, gave all the abilities to them.

And, if Greek myths were real, the sun would be not fire, nor plasma, but god, riding a chariot across the sky.

We need fire it like our life' date=' if thier is no fire bye bye the human race and here comes a super race

[/quote']

Lol no! YOU need fire, YOU need heat. The change would be that less people would exist in the upper and lower parts of the planet except the people who purposely want to be left alone. You dont need either of those things to make food (though it helps) or clothes. As far as I know most housing doesnt need fire either...

We'd evolve pretty fine without it. But in current society? Not a chance.

I just have to jump in here really fast.

Neanderthals had much larger brains than we do now. That is all.

(Shall no longer make any posts in this thread.)
