[Max Darkness] Seven Sins : The Next Generation of Rituals

Since Konami is currently obsessed with making as many Synchro monsters and support cards as possible to make us forget that Gemini, Spirit, and even non-Synchro Effect monsters can be competitive or actually exist (see Yusei's inability to come up with a counter to a Synchro-killer Deck...Monarchs/Gladiator Beasts anyone?), I've gone back to the start and made Ritual Monsters.

Featured only a couple of times during the second series anime ("Black Luster Soldier", "Relinquished" and "Lord of the Red"), they proved to be brutal when used correctly. And in the real game, if your opening hand is good, you can get up to 3300 ATK out on your first turn.

Despite this, what most people think when they think of Ritual monsters are the group that Konami made right at the beginning. Horribly weak and useless monsters with below-average stats and no effects. (See "Dokugorider" and "Javelin Beetle")

These Rituals carry on the work that was started by "Relinquished", "Paladin of White Dragon" and "Shinato, King of a Higher Plane": monsters that can both brutally strike your opponent and use their effects to destroy their strategy.

Enjoy.

b] This card can only be Ritual Summoned with the Ritual Spell Card “Dark Malevolence”. When this card is Ritual Summoned, you can destroy a number of Spell, Trap or face-up Level 4 or lower Monster Cards your opponent controls equal to the number of monsters Tributed to Ritual Summon it. A monster that battles with this card cannot declare an attack during that card’s controller’s next Battle Phase. Each time you activate a “Dark Malevolence” or “Dark Ruler’s Amusement” Ritual Spell Card, put 1 Sins Counter on this card (Max. 3). Once per turn, you can remove 1 Sins Counter on this card to discard 1 random card from your opponent’s hand OR put 1 Sins Counter on a face-up monster your opponent controls. A monster with a Sins Counter placed by this card’s effect cannot declare an attack. When this card is destroyed remove all Sins Counters placed by this card

b] This card can only be Ritual Summoned with the Ritual Spell Card “Dark Malevolence”. When this card is Ritual Summoned, you can Special Summon 1 Level 3 or lower “Seven Sins” monster in face-up Attack Position from your hand, ignoring the Summoning Conditions. That monster is returned to your hand during the End Phase. While this card remains face-up on the field, each time a face-up monster is destroyed, put 1 Sins Counter on a face-up monster on field. A monster with a Sins Counterplaced by this card

Effect: This card can only be Ritual Summoned with the Ritual Spell Card “Dark Malevolence” by Tributing 2 or more monsters. When this card is Ritual Summoned, you can select 1 Level 4 or lower “Seven Sins” monster in your hand and remove from play monsters in your Graveyard whose total Levels equal the selected monster’s to Special Summon that monster and have that Special Summon treated as a Ritual Summon with “Dark Malevolence”. If you do, destroy that monster when this card is destroyed. Monsters your opponent controls can only attack this face-up card. When this card destroys a monster by battle and inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent, put 1 Sins Counter on it. (Max. 2) Once per turn, during your Main Phase, you can remove 1 Sins Counter on this card. If you do, this card can attack twice during your Battle Phase and this card’s effect is negated, until the end of the Battle Phase. When this card is destroyed, you can remove from play this card in your Graveyard to add 1 “Dark Malevolence”, “Dark Ruler’s Amusement” or Level 4 or lower “Seven Sins” monster from your Graveyard to your Deck. Your Deck is then shuffled.

@ Lex: "Acedia" is the traditional Sloth; it evolved into it over time. I simply prefer the name. And I prefer "Despair" over the sin that eventually replaced it, Gluttony.

Both "Acedia" and "Despair" were originally sins, but were replaced by the pair you mentioned. It's just a problem that Sloth and Gluttony aren't easy to find demonic pictures for and in my opinion don't sound as good.

I agree that Sloth hardly has any good pics, but I personaly found a imo pretty good pic for Gluttony. I unfortunatly no longer posses that pic, but I do still have the card I used it for.

[spoiler=I will remove this if you ask me to]

But now I take a good look at it, Despair might be a better "Sin" even though I don't really understand why it is a Sin.
