Raylen
I by no means write professionally. But some agents are very blunt, and read quite harshly. Disc a Writer's Life. (note that it reads bottom up (chronologically) because that's how my email does things)Hi Raylen, In these times it is hard to define publishable, as anyone can publish a book themselves. But I found the actual writing to be awkward and lacking the clarity I look for. In terms of story I see what you're going for but I didn't think you struck the right balance between creating suspense for what will come (which often means just launching into an intriguing story with a strong character) and explaining what it going on. You want to create a believable world where events occur and you don't have to 'explain' how things works. I will definitely keep working on my craft. However, I do have one request - What is the difference between a publishable book and mine? Thank you again. The concept has many worthwhile elements but due to our workload and current areas of expertise, I do not believe we are quite the right agency for this project. We are rarely able to add new authors to our roster and I rarely find a young author whose work is quite ready for an agent. I always advise to keep working on your craft and allow yourself to develop. CinnamonStar
Well maybe it was the wrong type of agency, you should try another one that fits better to you. Or just wait, you're 15, there will be plenty of time to fix some things in your writing and in the end it will be better. It's normal that things don't work on a first try, maybe you need some more time. We are rarely able to add new authors to our roster and I rarely find a young author whose work is quite ready for an agent.
Amethyst Phoenix
God forbid you create ideas innovative enough that they need to be explained. That agent is an idiot.
