Some think they require no hard work or much effort put into them, which is wrong. It also might be because effect monsters have some sort of ability while Vanillas usually just have higher stats.

Many card-raters find Vanillas harder to rate since you have far less to work with when rating one, so it shows itself as anti-Vanilla sentiment. And the comment above is also true.

i know its very hard to be creative with a vannila and a great vannila thats even harder and vannilas rock!

To me vanillas do have a good description but...I rate most on the effect so vanillas to me show that you are lazy to make a origanal effect

Vanillas are based on plain creativity, emphasizing the description of the card. People just don't like em' because people think of them as no meaning, no effect, and nothing special about them. it doesn't matter though. Normal cards like the Ojamas go well as just linking with other effects.
