A few quick OCG questions that aren't answered in the Official OCG Thread

SSStylin'

Question

I'm confused on a few OCG-related things, as the thread title states.

Through the past several weeks, I have been led to believe that "increase" has replaced "gain" in OCG-wording. I swear I read that "increase" replaced "gain" in the Official OCG Thread a week or two ago when I first joined. I checked back and it's not there anymore. No mention of "increase" or "gain" in the entire thread.

Yesterday, I did some OCG fixes for a new member's card. The original text was "it gains 500 ATK", so naturally I worded it as "increase its ATK by 500". I check back today, and a LV5 member posted that "gain" is accurate wording.

So, logic tells me "I've been taught through the OCG Thread, observation, and research that "increase" has replaced "gain", BUT this LV5 member says "gain" is accurate. He's LV5, I've seen a few mentions of him before by other members, I know he has a respectable reputation and thus has more experience than I do (which isn't very difficult, considering I haven't played YGO in quite a while). Therefore... I listen to... who?"

And now here I am, asking this basic OCG question concerning "increase" and "gain". Perhaps I just missed the midnight announcement that "gain" became correct OCG again, or that "gain" is now correct under certain circumstances instead of "increase".

Either way, I'm confused and would prefer a credible answer with reliable sources/examples.

That said, the second OCG question is just whether or not "shuffle" is always capitalized or not.

Respectfully,

~ SSStylin'

Increase was eventually replaced with Gain; as can be seen in these two cards:

The top card is the 2004 reprint, the bottom being the 2009 reprint. As a rule of thumb, the most recent OCG is the one that is seen as the default; but because it was used at some point, the older OCG is still acceptable, although it will be corrected.
For example, the way "Goblin Thief" and "Caius the Shadow Monarch" word their damage-dealing effects:

CaiustheShadowMonarchSDDE-EN-UR-1E.png

Because the two cards are three years apart, they word their effects differently, but as of yet, those are both acceptable.

So as an overall answer, the correct OCG is 'it gains 500 ATK' because in that respect, the OCG has been modernised and replaced.
Question 2.]

As for the shuffle question, it is never capitalised.

Ah, I see now. I greatly appreciate your most-informative reply.

Now I can go back and fix all 80+ something pending cards I have with a clear mind (and stop posting old OCG corrections). :)

EDIT: So then, what about "decrease"? Is that still used, or has it been replaced by another term, like "lose" or "reduce"?
