Zowayix Posted May 12, 2010 Report Share Posted May 12, 2010 This is based off a thread I saw several months ago on "boss" monsters - i.e., a really powerful monster that is difficult to destroy, and has some kind of HP value, like bosses in video games. I tried to make a generic Boss effect without making it too powerful or weak: This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by ___. You cannot use 4 of your Monster Card Zones. This card cannot be switched to Defense Position, even by a card effect. If this card would be affected by a card effect (except its own), you can lower this card's DEF by 2000 to make this card unaffected by that effect. During your Battle Phase only, this card's original ATK becomes 4000. When this card attacks an opponent's monster, you can lower this card's DEF by any amount to lower the ATK or DEF of the attack target by the same amount. This card cannot be destroyed by battle. If you would take Battle Damage from a battle involving this card, lower this card's DEF by the amount of Battle Damage you would have taken, then reduce the Battle Damage to 0. If this card's DEF becomes 0, destroy this card.ATK/1000 DEF/10000 The bolded numbers might change depending on the specific boss monster, as well as the Summon requirements. I'm thinking a good Summon requirement would be something like "...except by Tributing 3 monsters and sending 1 monster you control to the Graveyard". Link to comment

I think the ATK should be increase gradually by 1000 each turn instead of 3000 instantly, or else it would be impossible to kill. How about make its DEF go lower if it would be destroyed also? Also, the points you brought up are already covered in the effect: The ATK is always 1000, except during your Battle Phase when it becomes 4000, then goes back to 1000 after your Battle Phase is over.Since the boss monster is the only monster you can control, you can't take any Battle Damage; however, any Battle Damage you would take is subtracted from the monster's DEF. Example:- This card has 1000 ATK and 10000 DEF. Your opponent attacks with "Dark Armed Dragon". Instead of you taking 1800 Battle Damage, this card has its DEF lowered by 1800, to 8200.- Next, your opponent tries to destroy this card with DAD's effect by removing 1 DARK monster in their Graveyard. Instead, this card loses 2000 DEF and remains on the field. Now it has 6200 DEF.- During your next turn, you enter the Battle Phase. This card's ATK becomes 4000, and you attack and destroy Dark Armed Dragon, inflicting 1200 damage to your opponent.***However, you can also use this card's optional effect, lowering this card's DEF by 2800, down to 3400; in order to lower DAD's ATK to 0. Now you can attack DAD for 4000 damage to your opponent.- After your Battle Phase, this card's ATK goes back to 1000. Link to comment
