No you wouldn't. Considering people are like hounds about name changes, there are some clearcut rules and people will beg otherwise. You said that you wanted to resign due to stress of being a mod, and that's why you haven't been around. This would only add stress when people KNOW you can change their names.

As long as someone isn't an asshole about it, I don't see what is wrong with changing names. Mods could institute a one-per-day policy (meaning one name change given per day, or something), seeing as editing a username isn't TOO out of your way, but I can see how much of a dick it becomes when you have 9001 name changes to do and 9002 (someone PMd twice, stfu up <_<) PMs about how you didn't change their name yet.
