This is why you should be careful who you let drive

loltruethough I think the minimum age ought to be 21, however.

I hate any law that gives pedestrians right of way at an intersection before cars. I'm just a little dismayed by having to walk out into the street in front of a two-ton vehicle driven by the texting 20-year-old who can't see over the dash board and has three screaming infants in the back seat. These laws deny that physics exist. In these situations, I'll usually find some flowers* (substitute house, tree, animal, rock) to look at so I'll look like I have no intention of crossing the street yet, so the car will go first.

Living for a set amount of years now gives me the right to consume alcohol. I guess every seconds humans must be constantly improving, right? And it doesn't matter what skills you posses, that older guy must be superior. Age as a deciding factor is just as silly as using race or sex, only eventually you're gonna' reach that age and humanity oftentimes gains a sense of superiority as they age so nobody actually goes against the stupidity.

Two words: brain development.

At sixteen or eighteen years of age, the human brain is still developing. It's not so much that 21 year olds will be better drivers, it's that they have more potential to be better drivers. Besides, it's not like people wouldn't be able to touch a car until their 21. There's still that nifty little permit that may still be aquired at 16.

After a point, of course setting age limits crosses a line; for example, there is no reason to set the driving age at 35, that is pointless. But teenagers tend to more careless and take more risks, which does not bode well when put at the helm of two tons of metal.

Two Better Words: Genetic Variation

Typically we are all smarter at 18 than we were at age 15 and so forth, but that doesn't define our base intelligence. Someone as young as 10, though I very well doubt it, could be smarter than a 21 year old. Drinking, voting, and other liberties are all given for no true meaning other than your age. A merit based system on what rights you do and don't have would be much more fair.

It's too late for me to argue this for myself now, but maybe the next generation will wise up.

I have never gotn in an accident (got a ticket for day expired plate stickers)

but I think you should not be able to take Drivers Ed till your Sophmore Year, so people who failed don't get 'special benifis' and the DMV should have harder driving tests (for mine I LITERALLY just had to back out drive to the next door Mc Donalds, and Drive back)
