Insomnia

I was diagnosed with insomnia several months after being diagnosed with GAD (generalized anxiety disorder). Some nights it's worse than others. Some nights I'll fall asleep fine' date=' but after about three hours of sleep I'll go through this phase where I wake up every 30 - 45 minutes. Other nights I'll lay in bed for hours before finally falling asleep. Every now and again I'll have a really good night where I'll fall asleep within 15 - 20 minutes of laying in bed and I won't wake up at all during the night; however, those nights are a rarity anymore.

 

My insomnia isn't severe enough for prescription drugs, but my doctor has recommended melatonin tablets. I've been taking them every so often for the past two or three months. They actually work rather well.

Melatonin? I nicked three from my Aunt's house, took them, then passed out for 14 hours. All in Sunny Spain :D

It annoys me terribly waking up after 9:30am - I study best in the morning and late night, so throwing away those periods by oversleeping (effectively doing nothing productive, face it) ticks me off.

 

On-topic, I spent roughly 1 year suffering from insomnia, but I knew full well the cause. Simply it wasn't in my hands to fix, so I always went to sleep nervous, and got further unnerved by not falling asleep, and naturally it would become a cycle. Eventually I stopped being silly.
