Madeline had been idly scanning the gathering of duelists, wondering silently when her match would be coming and who her opponent would be. She was rather looking forward to the tournament's start, as most of the duelists were. Some showed their impatience worse than others, and some were evidently nervous. From the corner of her eye, she saw someone approaching her and she turned her head to face the oncoming person. She raised an eyebrow, but smiled at Yamato.

 

"Yes?"

"Uhm... Okay?" Saviero sighed, looking around. How much time was left before the first round began, anyways? The adolescent smiled to himself over the words of encouragement, however. Maybe the second round, huh? I'll make it to the finals just to show you otherwise.

Why was Yamato so quick to go speak to Madeline? He could've sworn he was romantically interested with whomever the young woman was beside him.

Maybe he's just like that... Meh, not for me to judge.

[~Duo~]

Yamato stopped walking in front of Madeline as she raised her eyebrow, smiling. He smiled back at her. "Pleased to meet you," he said, "I'm sure you already know my name, being in the group, if you know what I mean... You're in the tournament, too?" he added, changing track. He looked at his bracket, again. He knew the answer before she replied. Then he shook his head and said, embarrassed, "Never mind, I just looked at the bracket." He smiled again.

Dan walked towards his private viewing booth with an annoyed expression shown on his face. "Damn woman, always have to find a way to get me mad, hehe, but I applaud her for her success, and she's still one of my trusted allies so I suppose I shouldn't try to cause any conflicts. But now I'm ticked off because I forgot my deck...."

 

"Welcomer back Sir, did you forgot your deck?"

 

"Yes, have you seen it?"

 

"You left it on the table."

 

Dan went to pick up his deck and placed it back into his pocket then walked off again. "It's too bad I can't use my Earthbound Immortal, or else things would be really entertaining, hehe....." Dan arrived back and walked towards Elliot. "So, has anybody gotten their brackets yet?"

 

"Oh no, I'm still waiting as well. By the way, you looked unhappy when you walked off a few minutes ago. Are you mad at that girl, I saw you eyeing her in an angry way."

 

"(Well, he's not so stupid afterall, he actually observe things very well.) Oh it was nothing, I just lost a bet on something, hehe."

 

"Oh, I see.... (That way of staring looked too angry to just be about a bet.....)"

[Serenade]

Jane wandered around, looking for people to talk to. Eventually she got tired and decided to take a seat next to Terra. She didn't really feel like saying anything at first, so she just searched through her deck for about the thousandth time, looking to see if she had forgotten any of her lightsworns or other cards on the way. Eventually she felt pretty good about herself and the deck and looked up at Terra,

 

"So, you're in the tournament I would assume? My name's Jane. I use Lightsworns. What kind of deck do you use?"

[Lord JZ of the Enigma]

In the bench that both Terra and Jane were sitting at, Seth just slouched on it from the backrest, meaning he was upside-down as he laid on the bench. "Oy....how you all doin'" he stated in a very nonchalant manner, as if he weren't crazy.

 

"Mr..I mean Seth, you can't just interrupt people while they're talking!" Claire said trying to make him look like he was just a little out of the usual, at least a little less then he really was, she turned towards Jane and Terra and bowed to apologize. "Forgive him, he's just really anxious for the tournament....as his...uhm" she couldn't exactly say assistant since Duelists really shouldn't have them, so she was a bit stuck.

 

"As my Girlfriend, she'll keep me in line...." he joked

 

"wha....WHAT?!"

Madeline gave Yamato a blank look. "I'm usually much better at this," she admitted finally. "Enlighten me because I think I've forgotten you." She frowned to herself. This wasn't the first time she had forgotten a fellow member, since Greed had gone entirely under her radar when they had re-encountered each other and as far as she could tell, this guy wasn't a fellow Sin, although she couldn't remember meeting the Gluttony Sin in recent memory, so unless he was that, she probably just didn't know him well.

[~Duo~]

Yamato smiled and attempted to reassure her and said, "It's okay; we haven't met, although I happen to know the members of the Sins, but not the Heralds, and their appearances. And yes, I am Gluttony, and you are Lust, I believe?" He added after his previous statement. He shook his head and asked her, "Do you know any other Ordo Everto that might happen to be in this tournament? I don't exactly remember all of their names." He looked sheepish to have not remembered their names...

[Serenade]

Jane hopped up at the upside-down presence of Seth, she made a "Nyeah-ah" noise when she saw him and looked up at the girl,

 

"Oh, really, it's okay. He just caught me a little by surprise if you know what I mean." Jane giggled at the girl's reaction to being called the boy's girlfriend. She wasn't sure just how true this relationship was, but either way she found it funny.

 

"Well, aren't you two quite the interesting couple? Did you meet her by falling backwards over benches too?" she giggled more at this bizarre man.

[Lord JZ of the Enigma]

"Actually yes..." Seth joked honestly remembering how they met.

 

[Flashback]

It was a boring day in Seth's room, as they all are, when suddenly his door was torn open by Ordo Everto agents, they had come to tell him of his promotion, but he hadn't accepted any calls, the one in charge of the agents Claire Fields had come not only to give him his title, but also to assign him an assistant so as to avoid his "Slothish" tendencies.

 

"Mr. Rivers? hello? are you in here?" the guards looked around and one by one a pair of arms grabbed them from the ceiling, lifted them off their feet and threw them around the room. "ah...what they hey? all the guards are gone.....just what kind of monster is this man?"

 

"ahhh!" Seth fell out of the roof beams and fell on his reclining chair. "Well, that woke me up....and your guards...uhm...sorry, would you believe I practice Sleep Judo?" he joked as he slumped on the ground, and eventually stood up. "Oh...you're from the order...can I help ya?"

 

She was terrified of the man that apperantly could toss 200+ pound men in his sleep "Uhm....s-s-sir....I'm here to present you with a promotion...Our leaders have chosen you to become one of the 7 Sins."

 

"ooh, fancy name...who am I? Pride? Wrath? I'm guessing Lust if they brought me someone as cute as you...." he joked as he stretched his back.

 

"Actually...you're...*gulp* Sloth....." She flinched thinking he would kill her.

 

"Cool, a perfect cover for...The Procrastinator!" he said with a cheesy and malformed pose.

 

"uh...yeah..and also, as the order has decided you may need help with your duties as a Sin, I have come here to present you with an assistant....well, the men you threw around...you were to choose one of them....when they wake up, you can choose any of the people in this room." she informed, but she saw that Seth already had his mind set on someone.

 

"hmm, no need, I chose already..."

 

"but...you haven't even seen the candidates...." she asked confusingly

 

"You said anyone in this room...I choose you...you seem organized....now help me get these guys out....I can't sleep in this clutter...."

 

"wha...WHAT?!?"

 

[/Flashback]

 

"It was a meeting of fate and destiny." Seth joked, his lie was believable enough, he had simply told them that it started as a blind date, and after that she couldn't get over his lazy charm. Claire on the other hand had her jaw to the ground. "Close your mouth love or a fly may get in." Seth stated with a smile.

[BANZAI!!!!]

Kane sat down in a chair, anticipating the tough matches ahead. Jane had walked away from him, so he sat there bored, with no one to talk to. However, this problem was solved by the timely arrival of Astrum, who hovered into the room just recently returned from his afternoon hunting in the nearby sea. "Anything happen while i was gone Kane?" he asked, inquisitively.

 

"Yes. A lot of things actually." Kane said, smiling. He fished into his deck box and pulled out the Boro, Gale Dragon card Jane had made for him. "Jane called me over to give this to me. It's a replacement for your card until we get it back."

 

"Haha. That's not all, apparently." Astrum said, laughing a little.

 

"What's THAT supposed to mean?"

 

"Well... you are obviously interested in her. Its all over your face, Kane."

 

"Its not like that! Its just, well..."

 

"Exactly. You humans have the weirdest way of referring to prospective mates. It's amusing, really. My species is MUCH more upfront about it. Oh. They're announcing the first match. Not that they need to. It's right here on the brackets."

 

An official came up to the podium that had been set up in the front of the lobby. His voice came across very loud on the sound system " The first duel will be a structured deck turbo duel between Seth Rivers and Lucas Vilan. Both duelists are to drive their respective duel runners to the track to begin the duel. "

Elliot heard the annoucement made by the official. "Wow, looks like it's time to start the first match. This is gonna be awesome, Seth Rivers versus Lucas Vilan. I wonder who they are?" Elliot asked Dan.

 

"(So it has begun.... Let the show commence....) Seth Rivers is a close friend of mine, he's over there by your friend Jane." Dan pointed.

 

"Oh so that's him. Huh? Wait I forgot, Jane and Kane doesn't even know that I'm in the tournament yet."

 

Dan looked over to Seth and closed his eyes and smiled. "(I hope your show will be entertaining, unless you fall asleep....)" Dan thought to himself.

[Lord JZ of the Enigma]

"ooh, well looks like I'm up...." Seth stated with a smile on his face as he slumped off the bench and finally stood up. "Gotta stop doing that, it's hurting my back....well, wish me luck honey." he joked to Claire, but she just raised her fist to his face.

 

 

"Go die twice....ya bastard" she threatened

 

"and that's why I love you" with that he ran away towards the garage, unaware that Claire was in charge of his pit crew.

 

"*SIGH* He really is just the most interesting guy I know...even if he is a sloth incarnate sometimes." she joked as she bowed to Jane and Terra. "Good luck in the tournament you two, Seth would be happy to duel you."

 

[Meanwhile in the Toolshed]

 

"Okay...let's get this started then....." Seth said as he had put on his Black Duel Runner outfit.

[a coffee]

Nick laughed as he heard the announcement of the first match.

 

Why is that lax idiot in the first match? Even better, he's in a turbo duel. I wouldn't be surprised if he feel asleep in the middle of moving and lost. he snickered at his own thought. He watches several people disperse to go to the arena and watch the first bout.

 

Nick pulls out his own deck and removes the Earthbound from it, replacing it with Fog King,

 

"Well... Not exactly the same, but close enough. I can't use that kind of power yet. It'll raise too many eyes..."

 

He walks over to Madeline and the Glutton, "So... are you two using your special cards? I took mine out, personally. I don't want people to be afraid of me just yet. How much do you want to be the Sloth forgot to take his out?"

Madeline chuckled to Yamato. "Ah, that explains why I don't recall you well. To my knowledge, all of the Seven are participants. Not sure about the three big bosses, but I suppose we'll find that out eventually, won't we?"

 

She paused at the announcement. "Oh, first round is a structured deck duel? Good info," she snickered. She thought for a few moments. "Seth...he's the Sloth guy...the other I've never heard of..." she glanced to the side, spotting the return of the dupe's pet dragon. A light smirk toyed at her lips, but she dismissed the impulse to study them for long.

 

She looked over at Nick. "Of course I am. If it's a structured deck duel. I don't rely on it, of course, but I rather not lose because I didn't have it. The Speed World spell means Fields aren't an issue." She chuckled. "My bet is he didn't even build the deck himself."

 

"Well, I'm going to find a seat, then," she stated, turning and walking away. She gave a small flick of her wrist, a sort of half-salute. "See you 'round."

(NPC! Yay)

 

Lucas liked to be prompt, and in a matter of minutes, had already completed the preparations for his match. He did a swift double check of his deck, a confident smile touching his tanned face. His blonde hair sat untidily on his head and he inspected his white riding suit for any damages. He was already at the track, eagerly awaiting his opponent's arrival.

 

"All right," he whispered to himself. "You got this far, let's go a step further and win this!"

[Serenade]

Jane nodded, "Oh well, good luck... Seth? Was it? I'm sure I'll hear your girlfriend cheering for you in the stands, then!" After seeing Seth and having a good laugh, she decided to wander around more.

 

She spots a few fairly tall, ominous figures standing in a corner, all conversing with each other. One was wearing a shirt with no sleeves with some very odd hair. Another was wearing a cloak, it was hard to make out her physical appearance with the tall males next to her. Especially the one guy. He was amazingly tall. Something seemed very off about that group of people. She walked away to get rid of any suspicion of her being well... suspicious.

"I'm going to talk to my friends for a bit. I'll see you later...." Dan said as he walked away towards Nick and Yamato, after Madeline had just left. "Well, well, well, it seems the show has finally begun. I'm going to enjoy defeating the members of the Six, how about you Nick?" Dan then looked towards Yamato. "Oh you must be the one they assigned to Gluttony. If you haven't heard of me before, which I doubt, the name's Dan Alsiter, but of course someone of my talent should already be known by every memeber of the Ordo. Anyways, Nick, I'll see you later. I'm going to go enjoy the duel now." Dan walked off towards his private viewing room once again.

 

"Well, I better go find my seat as well. I need to watch of all the duelists carefully just in case if I ever face them." Elliot then pulled out his deck. "(I'm counting on you guys.)" Elliot thought to himself looking at his cards. Elliot then left and headed for the stadium.

[Serenade]

Whilst walking away, she notices Elliot with his deck, Jane runs over and taps him on the shoulder.

 

"Well hello there Elliot... Say, your Deck! May I see it? You can check out mine if you'd li-" she stops in the middle of her sentence, realizing that she doesn't have her duel disk. She was so emotionally caught up with Kane before that she left her drawstring bag with all of her dueling stuff in it back at her dorm!

 

"On second thought, I'll catch up with you later! I forgot my duel disk and I've gotta run!" she hightails it, and upon arriving at the dorm, she finds her White bag with her Angel Winged Duel Disk and her deck inside of it. Luckily enough for her, her dorm was real close to the arena. She would be able to slip inside and see the duel just as it started, if she was quick.

Saviero's eyes widened. "Oh crap! I probably need my duel runner..." He sighed, standing up. He passed Madeline on his way out to go get his duel runner, glancing over to her. "Good luck," He stated calmly, exiting the building. He pulled the small electronic caller of of his pocket, needing to park his runner in the proper area. "Sorry for almost forgetting about you, love," Saviero mumbled, running down the street and into the parking garage. His duel runner was rather different than most; it had no main wheels. The body of the runner was thin, with two large wings that came to a fine point at each tip. From the top, its silhouette looked somewhat like this, though the wings it used were jointed and could fold down and use the small, almost unnoticeable wheels located on the side of the extremely thin wings to slide past an opponent. Where he sat was a thin, vertical disk-like area the width of himself. It was a neon blue, with blue designs on the entire runner, and could change from being translucent to opaque at the operator's will.

 

Yes, he'd saved quite a bit to have this built, and most of it was designed by Saviero himself, ensuring uniqueness. He piloted the runner back, shutting it down and having the wings fold up to keep it in storage with the other runners. He ran back outside and into the main lobby area, darting to the stadium and finding his seat... "Nice, doesn't look like I missed... Much. A structured Deck duel? Hm... I wonder who'll win."

[a coffee]

Nick looked back at Madeline, "Well maybe if your deck had any fire power instead of those pathetic frogs, you wouldn't have to have it at all, eh?" he sneered,

 

"Knowing the Sloth, probably not. He probably had that tacky assistant of his build it. I don't get it, why does someone as pathetic as Sloth get an assistant and I don't?" he walked away from the Glutton, not even saying goodbye. He wanted to just simply find a seat or a good corner to lean on and watch Seth most likely lose to some second rate duelist that didn't even have any importance.

Melody didn't know any of the first two duelist going into the first match. The only two people she knew was Jane and Kane. She found it kind of funny that their names rhymed. She wondered if they had any kind of relation. She honestly hoped not. She thought they looked better as friends. Not to mention, one of them was kind of cute...

 

Melody continued towards the arena to talk to random people she sat down near. Melody really was a chatterbox, even if she wasn't the nicest chatterbox.

It took a few minutes for Seth to put on his helmet, the straps were annoying, even if there was only one. "All righty...time to get to work...." he started sneezing uncontrollably for a few seconds. "sheesh..I can tell my friends are being supportive" he said in a rather annoyed tone, but afterward he simply walked out with his Duel Runner to his side. "Let's hope I can even run this thing."

 

He places the deck he did actually build into the slot, however there was a note. "ah again? what did I forget?" the note read 'please don't forget to take "him" out....we can't have you using his power this early....I put in a replacement card in this note, Good luck ~Claire'

 

"hmm....well then, with this card I'll go and kick some butt...but dammit I'm sleepy....."

Elliot made his way to the arena and tried to find Jane and Kane. "I wonder where are they, have they left the lobby yet?" Elliot thought to himself. Elliot closed his eyes and continued walking. Just then Elliot bumped into someone and fell to the floor. Elliot opened his eyes and noticed that he bumped into Melody. "Huh, sorry miss, I didn't mean to bump into you, or you alright?" Elliot asked concerningly. "I was walking with my eyes closed so I didn't see you." Elliot stated in embarrassment.

 

-Meanwhile-

 

Dan arrived at his private viewing booth and once again sat down on his chair awaiting the duel's start. "I wonder who has the bad luck to face me? Anyways, let's hope this duel will begin soon."

[Barian Warlord]

"The first duels are going to be on runners." Terra was slightly relieved, his strategies worked extremely well with runners especially if the more advanced rules are in place. Terra looked around seeing if he could find the two people that would be participating in the first match, though without knowing their faces it would be tough but his mood had elevated. While he was looking around he noticed a group of people that gave him a chill down his back, Terra hoped that he wouldn't have to face them.

Madeline snorted at Nick's comment as she walked away, making her way to the observer stands and picking a seat where she could observe the action throughout the duel. Unsurprisingly, Sloth hadn't shown up yet and she rolled her eyes, making herself comfortable. She was positioned near one of the exits, in case she wanted to leave, and was isolated enough where others were unlikely to bother her.

Derek stood outside his office, looking down at the stadium where the duel would be taking place. In one hand, he held a leaflet depicting the information he had on the opponent, a boy named Lucas Vilan. "I wonder how he'll handle himself here," he mused, checking his watch. The match should be starting any minute now.

Down at the track, Lucas was triple-checking his runner settings, verifying one last time that there wasn't any problems with his deck. He sat on the bike, waiting with excited impatience for his opponent. What was taking so long?

[Lord JZ of the Enigma]

"All righty!!!" Speeding out of the pit Seth seemed to be unusually energetic, and then he stopped right next to his opponent. "Yo....mind if I just close my eyes a bit until they call us to begin the duel....thanks." with that he laid back in his Runner and closed his eyes, he wasn't asleep, but he disliked the huge amounts of lights and people in the arena, so closing his eyes would be best, he also put some headphones on so he could only hear the frequency to the announcer.

 

Claire was a bit surprised when he came out in a hurry and then smiled when he went back to his usual self. "For a while I was worried you'd change for this tournament....I'm just glad even through all this your still you...."

 

A pit crew member simply stared. "Uhm...ma'am...what are you talking about?"
