Twig
Title is self explanatory. Discuss criticism in Card-Making, Showcase, Fan-fic, or in real life. How would you take criticism? For me, as long as it's constructive, I won't get mad.

Twig
I like criticism with no constructive elements incorporated in it. May I ask why? I wish we had a lie detector to see who's lying. Edit: @Black Star: No.

I could careless about the first part because I'm too lazy to define it. Why they can't be label perfect:Most tags on YCM lack the basic fundamentals of Graphic design (Good colours, depth, flow, etc). That's pretty much why they are not perfect. Maybe simplicity is perfection. Or maybe all YCM artwork incorporates each in perfect harmony. JUST SADDAM HUSAYIN'.

We better not get into why most Super Heroes outfits contain 3 colors, we don't wanna hurt someone. Oh, and Criticism does not Equal insult. Otherwise, I leave and let die. Raylen
I've taken some pretty harsh criticism, as far as writing goes. This was from an editor from a professional agency:This is one of those rare instance where I'm not going to suggest cutting the prologue. We can get along without it' date=' but it really gives us some insight into Reilen's character. There are two issues - 1) Publishers like things in Times New Roman 12. 2) The prologue allows us to feel absolute no sympathy for Reilen, and that's an issue right off the bat. You don't want to be behind before we even hit the plot.[/quote'] She stopped writing to me after that.

Catman25
I believe criticism is a good tool for learning, but when it's as unnecessarily harsh as it sometimes is, it's hard to listen to.

Insults aren't used in Constructive Criticism. Stating the Bad isn't negative either, or well that depends on your tone. Like..."That's just bad, remove it and start over". However, a slight edit will make it constructive like..."I do not like the results you have [insert specific area that needs improvement]. When you look it over, you might wanna do [suggested improvements]." You retain the negative aspects while not being insulting. THAT is constructive criticism. Gascan
Nobody posts in my threads so I wouldn't know about it.Amen. In showcase people need to grow some balls and accept the fact that they're artworks are not perfect. I would agree with this if it weren't for the fact that the only comments anyone posts in that forum is one or more of the phrases "Renders suck, colors are awful, whole thing fails, read sume tuts, scrap it and start over." No one actually criticises there, they just insult. Criticism involves saying what you like and what you don't like, say what could be improved and how it could be improved - not just pointing out what you hate in two sentences and leaving at that. There's nothing useful or constructive about "Your renders suck."

Pikachu
I find it hard to accept most criticisms from my friends, because they either say 'it's cool' or 'that's gay'. Usually I have to tell them the criticisms MYSELF.
