Atem's Penultimate Ban List; Due for an Update ??

I've been getting bored with the current meta, same stuff over and over again, same ban list cycles for years on end with no repeat, constantly having to replace the old outmoded stuff with new stuff which the list has conveniently placed on top of the meta.

 

So today I went in search of the Atem's List which I originally saw on this site, so that I could create a custom list with the Atem's list as the base list, because the Atem's list is, to this date, the most sensible list I have ever seen.

 

The problem I ran into is that I could not find any form of the Atem's List posted any later than June/July 2008. I found the latest one I could on LOLTCGplayer. I've since messed around with the list and the current Konami List to make a fair list, but I was wondering if there was an updated Atem's List that I missed, like a 2010 version, since I would love to work with that.

 

Since I first saw Atem's List here I figure this is the place to ask about it.

I know this is fairly rough in the making, but you really haven't banned nearly enough. Banning everything you've got Limited and a whole lot more cards (especially Mass Driver) would be a start.

 

I'd try for a 3-0.

I skipped pretty much everything and went to look at your Limited section. It's pretty clear based on that that you really haven't a clue how to construct these lists; you've got loads of cards there for no discernible reason.

I disagree

 

Blackwings was used a whole lot, but they only have three broken cards, and they can only run 1 Gale, 2 Black Whirlwind, and, well, unfortunately Vayu is on the opposite side of the list from where he needs to be.

 

Sabers are broken because of their synergy, how they all work together. Many of the cards in the deck aren't broken (fulhelmknight, emmersblade, Ragigura, all have cool effects but aren't on their own cheap.) On the other hand, stupid +1's like Gottom's E Call, Rescue Cat and Faultroll (ragigura is a +1 but isn't stupid without the free summons from GEC and FT) cause the deck to be supremely unfair. I don't think Darksoul is too unfair, it's cat that makes him stupid.

 

Infernities are kind of stupid I will give you that.

 

I can't speak for Machina I've never used them.

 

What else do people consider tier 1-1.5 anymore for this meta? Dandy Warrior? That deck is a joke. I can't even think of anything else.

 

Also, morphing jar is one of the stupidest cards EVER made, EVER. Deckout is a stupid deck concept. The way I see it, if I wanted to play freaking solitaire I would have pulled out a deck of playing cards and played solitaire, or clock solitaire since I enjoy that game more, even though there is no skill in clock solitaire.

Some of the cards were there due to the suggestions of a friend, for example he wouldn't be too pleased if I made a list with Zerato at 0 since he owns three. I have to make it appeal to a small crowd. If you want to make a more proper list please do, I'm sure you could do it better than me anyway.

 

I will admit bias against Six Samurais, that's probably why those guys are there. Shogun is a lockdown card while Grand Master gets himself back stupidly, that's the best reasoning I have for you.

 

The infernity changes should effectively make the archetype fair. No double archfiend off of mirage and only one chance to use launcher should make the deck viable but not broken.

 

Also Polaris I didn't even think of Mass Driver, forgot people ran frogs lol. Wow, that was a huge skip over.

Vayu is banned for the sole purpose of allowing Burial to go back to three, since it is obvious that Vayu is the less fair card and should as a result be punished. It's the same reason that Demise should be banned so that ARA can go back to three, one card is obviously more unfair than the other.

 

Whirlwind is a stupid +1, that you can use over and over. It instantly replaces itself and any additional uses get you advantage.

 

Of all the cards you could have chose to question, those were not the two I expected to be questioned.

Pro-Tip: An discernible list you make doesn't have to 'appeal' to anyone, because individuals have their own personal tastes. I personally like Lightsworn, but that doesn't mean I'm blinded to the fact that JD, Celestia and Wulf are overpowered, and combining it with Vayu and [i wanna say Sirocco... is it Sirocco?] I could literally summon 2300 beatstick at zero cost.

 

That being said, if you don't know the basics behind 3-0 logic you're probably not the right man to be making a list.

The point of Atem's list is to create a meta which essentially "takes the luck out of the game" leaving the game up to skill as much as possible. Or at least that is the impression I am under.

No, I don't hate any of those decks. I hate cards that are used in decks to gain free advantage. Trust me, I play Sabers and I love Gottoms' Emergency Call, but there is nothing fair about that card when all it takes to turn it into a free +3 is a Faultroll (to sync Gottoms) and E-Call itself, given that you have 2 DS (not too hard to pull off) in the grave.

Fair enough I suppose. I really did post this thread to see if there was an updated list, not to post my list.

 

And if 3-0 logic is the idea that almost every card is either fair at 3 or is banworthy, I understand the concept. If not then I suppose I've made more of a fool of myself than I intended to.

ARA, the Ritual, and Swing surmount to what exactly? Demise is gone, so at most you'd be getting a decent Ritual and temporary beatstick for Synchroing and Tributing or whatever out of that lucky draw at the cost of a -1.

Vayu is banned for the sole purpose of allowing Burial to go back to three, since it is obvious that Vayu is the less fair card and should as a result be punished. It's the same reason that Demise should be banned so that ARA can go back to three, one card is obviously more unfair than the other.

Seriously!?!? Foolish Burial can set up other powerful plays besides Vayu, Demise is waaay slower than JD, Whirlwind is fine at 2. This list is jank!

I do want to thank you Polaris for actually being helpful.

 

I suppose you are right concerning Magician of Faith.

 

Concerning Mezuki I think it is safer to ban him since he is a +1 in the grave like Vayu, and I want to be consistent.

 

Swing of Memories I will leave at 0 since it can be the equivalent of "summon a free tuner" which is why I banned Emergency Teleport and One for One, except that with Swing you could also summon the Non-Tuner if you wanted to. In a ARA ritual deck I could see it becoming too powerful.

 

Alright it's been reposted, the LIMIT list is near identical to the original Atem's list, actually it's all of the same cards but I banned Trunade and Dandylion since Trunade + Faith = multiple swings for game and Dandylion gives needless advantage and doesn't add anything quality. to the game whatsoever.

 

The only problem I have with it is that I can't figure out what's stopping Six Samurai's from being the top deck.
