It's called Ragnarok. It means "final destiny of the gods".

And iirc, it begins when Jormungandr lets go of his tail. Since I'm too lazy to explain Ragnarok myself, I shall copy/pasta.

Odin dies fighting the wolf Fenrir, causing his wife Frigg her second great sorrow (the first being the death of her son, the god Baldr). The god Freyr fights Surtr. Odin's son Víðarr avenges his father by stabbing Fenrir in the heart, killing the wolf. The serpent Jörmungandr opens its gaping maw, yawning widely in the air, and is met in combat by Thor. Thor, also a son of Odin and described here as protector of the earth, furiously fights the serpent, defeating it, but Thor is only able to take nine steps afterward before collapsing. After this, people flee their homes, and the sun becomes black while the earth sinks into the sea, the stars vanish, steam rises, and flames touch the heavens.

Thus, your topic title makes absolutely no sense. ;D

Also, whoever can explain to me the significance of Thor taking 9 steps gets a lol+rep.

For the record, the god Heimdall® and two humans, who are like Adam and Eve except I forget their names, survive Ragnarok eventually.

IDK about nine steps, though. Maybe it was foreshadowing the significance (over) nine (thousand) would have in the future, like the Mayan calendar foreshadowing Christian obsession with the Apocalypse.

Bring me your bad posters, your trolls, your huddled masses. I can save them. YCM, let me save you from your own inevitable destruction.

I am your Saviour. I will cleanse the lands of bad topics, spam threads, and return YCM to it's former days. It will cost me my life, but I already know this.

I will be ridiculed, disgraced, and shunned, but still, I will sing a song of hope.

Let me save you, and take the first step to a brighter future.

Simply,

~BtM

When I get my six-hundred and sixty-sixth post the fabric of YCM will be torn apart.

I've noticed the leaving and bannage of many good members. And the trolls and spammers.

BehindTheMask will you save us?

Yes' date=' my son. I will save you. You have begun to see the light. Let forth your posts.

Even though your 666th post will tear apart the fabric of YCM, it will usher in a new age. Go forth, and post smartly, my son.

It will cost me my life' date=' but I already know this.

You're usually unbanned a day three days afterwards anyways.

Yes, but unfortunalty, this cat is on his last life.

Do not carry a drop of sorrow, for the rebirth of YCM will be complete, my son.

And you will be saved. For you are special.

During the two years I have been here' date=' I have seen a topic about once a month declaring that the current YCM is dead and that it was much better six months ago and that everything has gone horribly wrong in the last six months. Despite this, I have never noticed any significant change in YCM's quality; it has always been the same as it ever was.

Perhaps people just perceive YCM as getting worse because they run the YCM of half a year ago through a nostalgia filter when they remember it that makes it look like it was made of Jesus and chocolate, and modern YCM obviously doesn't look like that because Freddie Mercury doesn't post here. Perhaps people just tend to grow up and gradually realize that YCM has always been pretty bad, but conclude that the change took place in YCM itself rather than in their perception of YCM. Perhaps people just get bored and make up nonsense about how YCM is [b']DOOMED[/b] to stir up some drama.

In any event, I have never been impressed by any of the "YCM sucks now but it was awesome six months ago" topics in the past, I am not impressed by Dark's Riku's VK Duelist's post today, and I will not be impressed in August December when today is revered as the Golden Age of YCM before it entered its downward spiral.

Ooh, it really is just like Adam and Eve, hopelessly sexist derivation and all. :D

But having been here for three years, I can safely say that it doesn't make a bit of difference, guys, the balls are inert. This place hasn't changed... at all. Period. End of story. It had the exact same atmosphere back when I first joined as today. Any other "changes" are due to your imagination, if you notice any at all (if you don't, you've turned off your Nostalgia Filters and are win, congratulations!).

Objectively, YCM hasn't changed. Ragnork is not coming to ravage our souls. So yeah.

^ lol

srsly, people move on in life. They leave ycm, and find something else to do. As for the place changing; it hasn't. It's just that your view of ycm has changed. When you joined, you saw things differently. Now you've "matured," and see things in a new way. You miss the old ways.

Trolls are appearing everywhere' date=' noobs are flooding us and attacking us like locust.

Something tells me that YCM will be overrun with so much noobs and trolls, that mods will be have a crap ton of work ahead of them.

But that's not the point.

Our best members are leaving, and such, the lulz are leaving as well with them.

Discuss when friendships end.

Really, well I'm the god of Noobs. And it looks to me that you haven't done much to help them on the right track

That seems appropriate. After all, the release of Duke Nukem Forever is just like the death of YCM; we are constantly told that it's about to happen, but in reality no progress in that direction has been made for years.
