"Not at the moment, no." John said.

"I sent Fear on the as-of-yet last mission. Though there might be work to be done, I wouldn't know. I only give missions vital to our battle against that Elnar. The work is taken care of by a different person. To be exact, Alsa. He's only around twelve, but he's a great help. If you want to find him, he has well, cold pale skin that shines in the light and clothes whose finery are much more....expensive than ours. I'm trying to convince him to sell the thing but despite his hatred of his brother, he still likes to look cool. I mean, really?"

Fear and his troop had dismounted from their steads after spoting the vampire troop on the beaten path ahead. Now, They had surrounded them, or they were going to surround them. They had ridden on ahead at Fear's command and formed a semi-circle in the brush, laying low so as not to be ditected. Fear was standing in the center of the path that the vampire troop was to be taking, just standing in wait until they saw him, his hand raised above his head and his other hand behind his back, holding on to his spear.

((There are more than one, three))

The vampire troops were heading back to their kin's home. If.......no, WHEN they get back, the Lord was sure as sure to reward them with gold. Gold was hard to come by these days. One of these vampires was called Taqr, age eighteen, he had lost his family long ago and now he was an adopted child, but his 'new family' was lacking on funds, and the army pays a lot. The second was called Rev, age twenty nine, he was a devotee to Elnar and agreed that the humans were monkeys existing only to annoy them, the true and dominant race of Lath. The third was called Vanir, age exactly one hundred, he had participated in the Lord's first rebellion against the monkeys, being the most experienced of the trio, and he shared the Lord's view completely.

They spotted Fear standing in their path. Taqr was the least experienced of the three and he just trembled. Rev took out his weapon, a blade, in case this monkey may prove to be a threat. But Vanir did nothing, only glance around, with a sad look on his face.

Fear tilted his head to the side, thinking that there would be more in this troop of vampires... instead there were only three.

'No matter,' he thought to himself. 'As much as this is a disappointment, it will be easily taken care of.'

Fear lowered his index and pinky finger on his raised hand and swirled his hand around in a circle, that was the signal to his archers to be prepared and to change their aim, because the group was smaller than they had anticipated. Six of his archers set a light to the wicks atatched to the bags of black powder on their arrows and took aim around the vampires rather than at them.

"What a shame we couldn't regroup." Vanir said quietly with a sad look. "I thought we could at least regroup before we were ambushed."

"What are you talking about?" Rev said, completely oblivious. "He's only one man, and a monkey at that! It takes a single strike to kill a monkey." Meanwhile, Taqr was shaking, Vanir's words only worsening them.

"It doesn't matter either way....." Vanir stared at the man in front of him, his bulky form simply couldn't match the human's. "Once upon a time, I stopped a cannon made of titanium. Now I'm going to meet my end with sticks." And then Taqr fainted. Rev, meanwhile, was about to charge at Fear, Vanir doing nothing to stop him.

Fear lowered his middle and ring finger, leaving only his thumb up. But at that signal, the six archers let their arrows fly. The arrows landed not but six inches away from the vapires each, forming a circle around them. Fear waited one second, then charge himself, pulling his spear out from behind his back and holding it at his side.

The wicks on the arrows were growing increadibly small...

Taqr had already fainted. Meanwhile, Rev attacked Fear in a full swing with his blade, completely overconfident, while shouting something.

"Pathetic monkey! You missed!"

And Vanir himself unsheathed his emerald sword and climbed off his black horse, the only horse in the group, actually. He awaited the next thing to happen, deciding that he should meet his fate in a noble way. The exact age of one hundred, this could hardly be a coincidence. The Gods like to toy with him.

Fear raised up his spear and blocked the blade with the shaft, looking at the vampire directly in the eye and he said, "We weren't aiming for you."

At that moment, the wicks reached the bags of black powder and exploded around the other two vampires, making the horse shriek and stand on it's back legs. Dust flew over Fear and his adversary, giving him the pefect oprotunity. Fear punched the vampire in the stomach with his curled up hand, his thumb still stuck out, and spun around the vampire in the oposite direction. Without hesitation, Fear spun his spear around and jabbed it backwards, stabbing the vampire through his stomach.

The dust had only been flying for three seconds. It would last fifteen at the most.

Taqr was still unconscious. Meanwhile, Rev lifted his head up one last time to stare at Fear. He grabbed the sword in his stomach and tried to pull it out, but he had lost his strength. He then simply smiled maniacally and said his last words.

"Soon.... you pest, you shall meet your end like.....every other monkey out there...." He said, coughing blood with every period break. "....while we.....we shall live forever......laughing at how hopeless you all were......in the light of......the sun.....and the moon!!!!........" And he dropped down, dead. Vanir wasn't affected by the dust or the explosion. He may have lost his sight, but he hadn't lost his hearing. He rose his sword, ready for any attack, from arrow to spear.

"Immortals," Fear said, chucklign under his mask and standing up straight. He twisted his spear and ripped it out of the vampire's stomach, "I've put that name to the test several times now. You've all failed."

Fear waited purposly until the dust settled so that the last one concious could see him.

"You're not like your dead or unconcious friend. You're smarter aren't you? That's good, I like a challenge."

Fear raised his spear then swung it down briskly, swiping most of hte blood off of his spear blade.

"Take the first move."

Vanir had already calculated the scenery. He was surrounded by archers, six at the least. And then there was that one human facing him. If he was lucky, this human would follow honor. Even if that coward did have the guts to not faint from fear, he still knew it was still a hopeless match. He didn't know the full potential of this human but one thing was certain. He was not one to be underestimated, that vampire, whoever his name was, learned that the hard way. One hundred years of practice, don't let him down. One hundred years of mental practice was enough to take away his fears, even if he knew it was hopeless. He kicked the ground hard with his left foot, the hard soil breaking away as though it was soft.

"I would have preferred it if you made the first move." He said, before he sprang at Fear, his sword head-on. Meanwhile, his left hand was grabbing onto the hilt of a sheathed sword on his other side, to defend from a counter-attack. But the way he attacked, he made it appear as though he was attacking recklessly.

Fear smiled, loving the challenge of the whole thing.

"Come then vampire, let's see what you can do against Fear!"

He waited until the charging vampire was no more than a couple of feet away from him, then he bent down and swung his spear in a circle, aiming for the vampire's feet, an even if that didn't work, Fear had more than one move in mind, thsi did not exculde the one he had reserved with his still outstretched thumb.

Vanir noticed the attack.

"I'm sure that's not all you can do."

He jumped up at the right moment, and then kicked away from the spear, jumping upward.

There is definitely more than just that.

His right hand was still holding his sword and his left hand was still holding the hilt of his sheathed other sword. But currently, he was going to use the force of gravity to his advantage, so any block will be broken, and any retreat will be met with his sheathed sword.

Fear smiled under his mask, pleased that his plan was working so well so far. Fear jumped up into the air after the vampire and thrust his spear up at the vampire, aiming for his chest.

'This one's not dumb. I need to be more careful,' Fear thought to himself. 'If all else fails though, I just need to close my thumb. But then again, when have I failed when it comes to killing vampires?'

A voice whispered in teh back of his mind as he thought it.

'Beter safe than dead.'

((I didn't think it was possible. Merciful, good Inheritence(Eragon, Eldest and Brisingr) reference. Did you plan it?))

Salac sighed as he was told that there were no missions as of yet. "Just tell me when there is one. I would dearly like to prove my worth. Even if it is against a horde of vampires, I will fight 'till none survive." Was Salac's last statement, before the tent's entrance flapped and he was gone. "So, I'm looking for a Sparkly F****** Vampire Vampire dressed regally. Well, I'm sure that wont be hard." And Salac set off to find the Prince. Soon he came across a group of men that stared at him. One gripped his spear harder and one nearly drew his blade. To be fair, Salac did look similar to a Vampire, perhaps they thought he was. "Hello." Salac said, nodding. That broke them. The one with the spear struck first, but the thrust spear was batted aside with unnatural speed and he was soon pinned, while the other to were constricted with a simple spell. "Dont attack me again. Next time I wont be merciful." Salac hissed, before releasing them. He wandered somemore, before he spotted the hew of a robe far more expensive than the clothes of the others surrounding him. "Hey!" Salac stopped the man, and saw it was definately a vampire. "Are you the prince? Prince Alsa?"

((Well....no.))

This has to work.

Vanir blocked the spear with his unsheathed sword and knocked it aside. He then proceeded to grab onto it.

One more move.

Then he proceeded to thrust his sword towards the human.

Has to work.

"Forrest, be careful where you hammer! You break a thumb and how are you supposed to....huh, did somebody call me?" Alsa asked, looking around. He then stopped someone, who looked somewhat like a vampire. "So yeah, Forrest, just be careful where you hammer." The human called Forrest nodded and then Alsa went to the strange vampire.

Fear spun around in teh air to dodge the sword. They were falling now, both eh and the vampire. He had to get separated. Fear drugg his spear out of the vampire's hand, blade and all and hit hard on the ground, but rolled away none the less to give himself some room.

He got up slowly, watching the vampire for his next move.

((Do you even know the reference?))

Salac sighed. The person infront of him was certainly the Vampire, but, with disdain, Salac realised he was no more than a child. Although Salac was in fact younger, he knew he didn't look like a child, as this person did. "You are Alsa? Well, I'm honoured to meet you, you highness." Salac knelt, then stood straight back up. "I'm Salac. Salac Dumont. I'm a new recruit and John told me you might be able to find me a job to do, one that might only be available to your own kind maybe?" Salac asked, hoping for atleast something to do.

((No, not really))

Vanir didn't know what the human would do next. One wrong move, and he would suffer the same fate as the other vampire. It's bad enough their newest comrade had fainted.

What is this human going to do?

The vampire slowly walked up to Fear, his sword at the ready and his still-sheathed sword too. And then he slashed, aiming at the neck.

Hopefully.....

Alsa thought for a while. "Hmm....." And he thought.

Fear ducked backwards, bending his body back so far taht he fell on his back. Not to his disadvantage though. He quickly brought his legs up and jumped back onto his feet. With his free hand he reached out and grabbed the vampire's blade, even if it cut into his palm. He moved his arm directly to his side, bringing the blade and it's owner's arm with him, and thrust his spear forward, aiming for the stomach, just like the last vampir ehe had killed.

((I've only read Eldest. I named Vanir after the rivals of the Aesir in Norse mythology.))

"The same trick doesn't work twice!"

He unsheathed his second sword and knocked the spear away.

I have to survive this.

He then began to use his vampire strength to break away from Fear, while keeping the spear in check with his secondary sword.

"Well, there are these caves. The cave apparently has been created through magic, due to the neatness, but I doubt any vampire could do this and I also doubt a human could. They're very old, and too dark for the human eye. Personally, I don't think it's really important, but I was going to check it out. Since we vampires have what they call 'heightened sight' but I just think the humans have 'lowered sight'. So yeah, apparently, humans cannot see in the dark. And no light goes through the cave, and no fire can be brought in, because there's some kind of curse.....so yeah."

"Then I think it's time to unveil a new trick don't you?" Fear asked, letting go of the vampire's sword and taking a few steps back. He looked down at his hand. It wasn'ta bad cut. It was clean, it'd heal mostly in a couple of days. Still usable in this fight.

Fear turned his spear upside down and stabbed it into the ground, covering a good half of the blade. With his injured hand he reached behind his back and unsheathed his sword with three skulls, the blood from his hand running down each o the skulls before brimming of and dripping to the ground.

"It's not too often that I'm forced to use my sword. Be proud of yourself, you've survived long enough that I'm growing slightly impatient."

Fear raised his sword and rested it on his shoulder, waiting for the vampire to do something.

((Vanir is the Elf in Eldest who fights Eragon in an arena and is cocky))

"I bet I can do it. Just tell me where it is, and I'll come back with whatever is so important that it's protected by wards so strong they can block light." Salac stated. Although he made no reaction, the tone in his voice revealed that he was pepped up, excited for something to do. Atlast, a place for me to be safe. A place where I dont have to worry about pitchforks and such. A place where, as long as I prove my self, I am welcomed. Salac thought to himself, sighing.

My fate is sealed, but I shall seal it with honor.

Vanir didn't know what that sword was, but three skulls = something very, very, VERY bad. That was obvious enough even for that unconscious-by-fear-no-not-the-person vampire.

I did my best.

He held his two emerald swords and then began charging at Fear. He then attacked the stomach with his right emerald sword and put his left emerald sword in a position that should be able to block the three skull sword.
