Mehmani
Abraham Lincoln may have pledged to 'free the slaves' but he still maintained his racist beliefs. He said that black people 'should never be equal to whites' and that they were a lower form of life. Discuss.

Guest JoshIcy
Despite that he fought against Slavery. So his sense of right and wrong was not clouded by his own opinion. He's still one of the greatest for doing JUST THAT imho.

Fidel Castro
His beleived that all the slaves should be sent back to africa and that this country should be for whites only. I love it when people fight for morally right decisions when they are only doing it for morally wrong ideals.
Eury
Old news is old. :/ Edit: But yeah, Abe was a hypocrite. But, a good hypocrite nonetheless.
Mehmani
Despite that he fought against Slavery. So his sense of right and wrong was not clouded by his own opinion. He's still one of the greatest for doing JUST THAT imho. So he freed the slaves from their owners but still said they were lower life-forms. That's like destroying slaughterhouses but still keeping the chickens in cages.

Amethyst Phoenix
When it gets to the point that the grief shoppers are attacking historical figures on their own side, I start ignoring them and hoping that some day soon, they'll get hit by a freight train. LarvaeMothKaiba
Hmm, this is interesting. Aberaham was raised to think of black people as a lower form of life, in a society which used black people as slaves. Despite feeling they are a lower form of life, he saves them from slavery. This still makes him a good man. It is like if in our society, a man free's captured dogs, bred for fighting in dog fights or in other area's where they are abused. He may feel they are lower life forms, but despite it he is freeing them. Now I'm not saying black people are dogs, I am mearly trying to relate the point to something modern for people to understand, black people in that time were treated worse then animals in our time, so it's a decent relation to how and why people think like that in those times. TLDR: Abraham got over his own opinions and society's opinion and still abolished slavery making him still a good person.

Amethyst Phoenix
the only thing that matters is abe is worth more than washington money wise. They put Washington on the one dollar bill because they wanted children to know his face. The most deserving person is on the 10 dollar bill, Alexander Hamilton. You know, because he invented our currency system?
