"Ok' date=' thanks for telling me this information. Just one more question: If I'm a Guardian, then shouldn't my brother be one too? He attended school here and graduated in just 1 year, but he never said anything about a Guardian of the Dragonfire, and did your brother attend school here too?"

[/quote']

"Your brother might be the fourth Gaurdian, yes, but I can't know for sure, unless, does he have a dragon card too? Oh and about me and my brother, no. I come from about 2 years in the future. I'm on this boat to figure out why. I woke up with an Academy Disk on my arm, and so I ended up here." Zero Explained. "So, if your brother does posses a Dragon Card, then he might be a Guardian as well.

As Relinquished's eyes started to glow, Damen grinned. "Is my deck really that easy to read, or is it just me?" He said, his eyes making it clear he's only half-joking. "Thanks for the tip about not putting all your hopes into one monster, but, as you can see, It would have been more of a gamble to not summon him. Oh, and, you're right, this one monster doesn't yield much profit. So, unless I'm missing something, I can do this: You were right about another thing, my face-down was a quick-play spell card, De-Fusion." He said, foregoing the classic yelling about such a thing in favor of a more conversational tone.

"I knew it would be," Madame Clive said truthfully. "You should have kept it in your hand before attacking me. If I had a card that targetted, such as Dimensional Prison, you would have been unable to use it to save your dragon because you cannot use a Quick Play the same turn it was set. You then would have lost the duel. Relinquished has activated its effect already this turn, so it cannot do so again."

She smiled. "I switch my three monsters to defense position and set a card facedown. I end my turn. Do show me what you've learned now."

"Alright Mr. Yami, then I'll go first!" Kay drew his sixth card and looked at his hand closely. "Alright, I'll start things off by summoning my Gene-Warped Warwolf in attack mode [ATK:2000] and then I'll activate the equip spell Melovolent Nuzzler to have my monster gain a 700 ATK boost. I'll end my turn with a face down. Your turn Mr. Yami." Kay awaited for Akarui's move. Kay knew not to take any opponent lightly, especially not a skilled teacher.

Akira was still talking to Zero. "You're from the future? Wow! What's that like? Oh, I shouldn't butt into your business. Anyways, when you were asking about my brother's dragon - Yes, he does have one, I just don't think its "Lunar" - it's Ancient Phoenix Dragon, which is a FIRE monster. Still, what he is doesn't matter to me - I'm here to stay away from him, so I don't care what he is. By the way, I saw you glaring at that teacher - Akarui, was it? Is there something wrong with him?"

Brian had decided not to repeat what he said." So finally I get to duel. I am so pumped to use this fiend deck. LET"S GO!!!!!!!!!" He was pumped. He would have more comp then back at home. His friends had spirits too. He had made this deck because of a friend he lost to evil. His friend was persuaded into stealing some high tech duel disk and died in a duel because of it. Since fiends are evil and corrupted this deck is was made for him.

"This can not keep going on. On the bright side, now I can get rid of Relinquished without taking any damage. She's got one card in her hand. That's not so great for me. She'll no doubt activate that trap of hers and take one of my dragons next turn. Not only that, but I have to assume she has Cthonian Polymer on the field, waiting for me to Fusion Summon again. I have to draw something good." He thought, drawing his card. "I Summon Mirage Dragon to the field in attack mode!" He said, unable to contain excitement. "His effect makes you unable to activate any traps during he Battle Phase!"

Akarui drew his card "I summon Metal Warrior LV4 and activate Mystical Space Typhoon, destroying your equip card. Now I play Level Up, leveling up my Metal Warrior into LV6." [ATK: 2300 "Now my Metal Warrior will attack your Warwolf. And since you have no face-downs, it's destroyed." Akarui explained "I'll end my turn with two face-downs. It's your turn Kay." Akarui stated, awaiting Kay's turn. "(This kid might have some potential...)" Akarui thought.

Madame Clive clicked her tongue. "Mirage Dragon only prevents me from activating facedown Trap cards. I can still activate the effects of already active Trap Cards, such as my Scrubbed Raid. I'm afraid your move changes nothing, but it does give me an opening to your Lifepoints during my next turn. I cannot criticize you much, as you are essentially topdecking. Continue your move or end your turn."

She waited with a faint smile. He will attack, forcing me to use Scrubbed Raid and get rid of one of my cards. Fortunately, I have plenty of cards to send, and my Relinquished will slowly eat through his attack force. He won't win with power alone.

Zero was still continueing to talk to Akira. "Oh, him? I don't know. He seems kind of suspicious to me. I mean, that monster, Rekeph, seemed Evil. And then the Duel Spirits vanish whenever he's dueling someone." Zero explained. "I just don't trust him, that's all really. Oh and about the future, it really isn't all that bad. Have you ever heard of Team Satisfaction?" Zero Asked.

"Wait, she's right! Still, I have no cards in my hand, and there's really nothing else I can do. That Scrubbed Raid of hers made most of my cards useless. Nearly all of my strategies revolve around calling out the Ultimate Dragon. Guess I did rely on that card a bit too much when I made this deck. Oh, man, what am I gonna do?" He thought, trying to keep a cool exterior, but unable to control the look in his eyes. "Well, can't hurt to try, plus, it will get rid of one of her cards." He thought, "Mirage Dragon, see if you can take out that Relinquished!"

"I think I might have heard of them - Is it that team with someone named Fudo in it? However, I'm not positive - I've never actually been interested in dueling - until today that is. Also, I did notice the disappearance of your "Blue-Eyes" when you were dueling - could it be that the duel spirits are afraid when that monster comes into play?" Akira looked shocked. "Anyways, I think I better investigate a little more into this whole "Guardian of Dragonfire" thing..."

"So sorry to disappoint you, I activate my Scrubbed Raid's effect! By sending Sonic Bird to my Graveyard, I end the Battle Phase," Madame Clive said, flashing a smile. "It's my turn," she said, drawing her next card. He wouldn't switch his dragons to defense because then I'd just rip them apart with no harm to me, she reasoned.

"I activate Relinquished's effect to absorb one of your Blue-Eyes White Dragons!" she announced. Relinquished's golden eye shimmered and inhaled one of the white-scaled dragons, the legendary beast disappearing into the monster's maw. (3000/2500)

"Then, I switch the Tricky and Relinquished back to attack position! The Tricky will attack your Mirage Dragon, and Relinquished will attack another one of your dragons!" Madame Clive explained calmly. The spellcaster formed a ball of energy between its hands and fired it towards the smaller dragon, whereas the Ritual monster fired a beam of white energy, identical to that of the Blue-Eyes.

"When Relinquished would be destroyed in battle, the equipped monster is destroyed instead," Harriet explained, the imprint of the dragon shattering, leaving Relinquished unharmed. (ATK: 0)

"I end my turn. Good luck to you," she said calmly.

"I don't know what gets to those Duel Spirits, but I don't think it's the monsters. Maybe... It's the guy Akarui. He told me "You have fought a hard battle. But that won't be enough to stop what is coming. Zero, you have potential and spirit, but do you have the skill?" and then walked off. These things are so confusing, I'm not even sure if this can be true or not. I mean, Think. How many people on this boat are Spirit Holders? And why are we dueling on this boat anyways? There's an Academy on the mainland. And what's with these teachers? But still...

Oh and yeah, Team Satisfaction was founded by a guy named Fudo." Zero explained. "What in the hell is going on here? There are so many things happening, and now there are two Guardians on this boat." Zero thought to himself.

"Well, that's just perfect. Now I'm pretty much going to lose. She's got plenty of cards left on the field, and I've got one dragon, plus whatever I'm about to draw." he thought, watching his Life Points dropping to 3600 while one of his dragons was destroyed. "Next turn, I don't doubt you're going to absorb my final dragon, and then attack me with your two remaining monsters." he said, drawing his card. "Still, I can't help but wonder, why send Sonic Bird, rather than one of those two face-downs? Well, I guess you've got reasons. What I have is this: Re-Fusion. By paying 800 Life Points, I can Special Summon one Fusion Monster in my Graveyard, so long as I equip it with this. What the card doesn't say is that I need the Fusion Material Monsters on the field at the time," he stated as if in class.

[anything? If not]

"I've no doubt I'm going out next turn, anyway, and no matter what, with that Relinquished's effect, I'm dead. So, it's either a Tie here, or a Loss there. Now, Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, Target Relinquished! Neutron Blast!"

"But what the card does say is you need the Fusion Monster in the Graveyard," Madame Clive reminded him quietly. "Check your grave for a moment. Do you have a Fusion Monster there? It's a True or False question, and the correct answer is 'False'. Your Fusion Monster is in your Extra Deck, where De-Fusion sends it."

"Without a target available to you, it's a dead draw," the teacher continued. She gave him a tight smile. "The reason I sent Sonic Bird is because it was unable to attack over your monsters and it would take another turn to get a direct attack, making the monster expendable."

"You can opt to make a final attack with your Blue Eyes White Dragon, but you know as well as I do that Scrubbed Raid will nullify the Battle Phase. You fought quite well for yourself."

"Great. I've really got to start thinking things all the way through...Even if White Lightning does connect with Relinquished the final score will be 1000 to zilch. I still ended up paying 800 Life Points for Nadda." He thought. "Oh well, really nothing else I can do. I did bring myself to this after all." He said, raising his shoulders. "So, let me guess, I'm gonna end up in Slifer Red until I can formulate half a strategy beforehand. Or at least learn to Topdeck properly. Right? Well, either way. I guess I'll end. Gonna lose no matter what."

"Well, you can't activate the card if you don't have a target," Madame Clive reminded him. "But yes, in that case your defeat is a certainty. However, Relinquished only deals damage when equipped, and it's not. But Scrubbed Raid can send one of my facedown cards to end the Battle Phase even if you do try to attack. Relinquished will absorb your Blue-Eyes and my monsters will deal 5000 points of damage."

She smiled and the card holograms faded away, signifying the end of the duel.

"You fought well and I congratulate you on your effort. You made a few mild mistakes, but it seems with the cards you were dealt, there was little alternative considering the cards I was dealt."

She studied Deman silently for a few moments. "Losing does not automatically decide your dorm. The test is on your dueling, not the outcome. How often do you expect to defeat one of the instructors? We're often assigned to test applicants to give them a solid challenge."

She smiled. "I have the information to calculate your score. You're dismissed and thank you for your effort, Damen Exposito."

"Can she hear what's going on inside my head?" he thought, walking away from the area. "I certainly hope not. Some of the thoughts that go on inside my head aren't meant for anyone else. And it'd certainly be embarrassing if I ended up having her as a teacher later after some of those things." His face turned just the slightest shade of pink as he walked over to the edge of the boat. "I hope I can swim all the way home if it turns out she's a mind reader," he said aloud.

"Say... I know that this is kind of out of the blue and all, but do you have a D-Runner? Cause I was hoping that I could Turbo Duel you sometime, after we got to the Island. I heard that they ship them there seperate." Zero explained. "And, have you ever heard of Kutafis Katashi, my Older Brother?" Zero Asked. Zero was hoping to find Kutafis on the Island, as that's where Crow said he went.

"I don't think I've heard of him, and also, you're forgetting something - I'M 14!!! How could I possibly own a Duel Runner? I can Turbo Duel, though, using a simulator or a Duel Board. Sorry I can't answer any questions you're asking... So, what dorm do you think you're going to get in, and for that matter, how strong is Akarui as a duelist?" Akira was curious as of how strong the other examiners were.

"Damnit. I don't know if anyone else has a Duel Runner... Oh well." Zero muttered to himself. "So you wanted to know how strong That Akarui guy is, huh? Well... He gave me a pretty tough time, so I'd say that he's probably pretty strong, though there's still something that's rather, off, about him. Don't you agree?" Zero Asked.

"He doesn't exactly show much.....emotion..... in his duels. Still, I don't know. I haven't dueled him myself, but from what I've heard, those Metal Cards are pretty annoying. Wait, does this place actually expect us to win? I mean, these are real instructors using their real decks... It's almost like they want us to lose. Just look at Damen - even with the legendary Blue-Eyes White Dragons, he was still crushed by that 'Madame Clive', who plays with a Relinquished Deck, Pegasus' own preference. These people are not to be taken lightly..."

"While that may be true... I still don't think that these duels are impossible... I mean, you and I both won our duels. Hmm..." Zero started pacing the floor for a minute or two. "Well... Did anything strange happen to you as a kid? You know... Waking up in a place you don't remember being at... Friends falling to the ground because of some mysterious illnesses... Parents going missing without a trace... That sort of stuff" Zero asked. Zero wad hoping to find answers as to why he was here, so maybe, he thought, another Gaurdian might be of some help.

"Well, kind of...My parents both suddenly disappeared when I was 7, which left me living with my brother - we both had to fend for ourselves - He was only 10 at the time. It's a wonder how I got through 7 years living with him - he's such a jerk! Okay, that's besides the point... Well, other then my parents going missing, nothing has really been 'strange', but I got over that. I still want to find out what happened to them, though"
