Alexander Kyrby
Yes, this is another Yu-Gi-Oh Fan Fiction, set in a Duel Academy called Twilight. Hey, I was low on inspiration, and the name... stuck.
So here he was. Alexander Kyrby, at his fourth year at Twilight Duel Academy. He flicked his black, messy hair out of the way of his grey, bloodshot eyes, smirking at the common mistake that people make when they hear the name. Although it was true that he himself was a vampire, everyone else was just your average race selection. It got its name from the time it was finished-twilight. Deciding he had lingered enough, he marched onwards towards his dormitory, Black Moon. It was the highest ranking of four dorms, the others being Green Forest, Blue Ocean and Red Flame. All dark colours, of course. On his way to his dorm, he ran into his friend, Edward Milligan, more commonly referred to as Ed. “Hi, Alex.” he said, walking towards Alex while speaking.“Morning.” Alex replied, flicking more hair out of his face. “Good holiday?”“Meh, better than last year. There weren’t any explosives, so… yeah.”“Oh, I remember that. Did they find his legs yet?”“Hmm… rats probably ate them. If I know anything, it’s that you shouldn’t leave rotting corpse parts in an open field."“Yes, that would be rather detriment-ow!” The sentence was cut short by a white, flying object around the size of a small egg hit Alex’s head, and remained airborne for a few seconds before he grabbed it. On closer inspection, it was a full bulb of garlic, with a crack where it had made contact. Alex frowned at this-he may not have liked garlic, but it was natural preference and not some dumb, unfounded superstition. He had enough of that kind of stereotypical behaviour over the holidays, with insults ranging from people shoving crosses in his face to doing sarcastic impressions that went along the lines of “I vant your bwood!” In the worst Russian accent they could. Feeling annoyed, he held the bulb above his head, looked in the direction that it came from and boomed “Ok, who threw this?” A group of four, all dressed in similar green gear, burst into laughter at this. They quickly stopped when they realized that their target and his friend were staring them down. Showing them the garlic, Alex uttered, “I suppose this is yours?”“Ah, yes it would be.” Said one of them, clearly the leader.“Well, Mr…”“Haywood U. Cuddleme.”“No.”“Damn, people usually fall for that one. It’s Nate.”“Well, Nate, I hope you like… Oof!” This time, a knee to the balls cut Alex short. The other three laughed at this, while Ed helped the downed up. “You son of a…” Only what little dignity he had left kept Alex from going all out on Nate. “Heh, he’s a crappy duellist and an even crappier man!” Nate was aiming to annoy him, and he succeeded. In fact, he succeeded a little too well.“Oh, you didn’t…” Ed was now backing off at a slow pace, looking to leg it at the first possible chance. Meanwhile, Alex grabbed the offender by the collar, looking rather violent while doing so.“Look you, I am more of the duellist than you were, are or ever will be…” he stared the offender down with a look that would create a wet patch around the average person’s groin.“Well, why don’t you prove it?” Nate was calmer than per normal for Alex’s liking, but he couldn’t refuse to rip this dude’s logic neatly in two like the garbage it was. “Fine.” He threw his opponent into the dust, turned around and walked 20 paces, sticking his deck into his duel disk at the same time. His was a custom model-much like the original one Kaiba made and attempted to test against Pegasus. It had a single slot where the LP counter would be on a regular disk, with the grave and deck where they should be. His opponent was using a standard Battle City disk, but his was repainted gold. He made no haste in shuffling his deck into his slot, making sure to stick his key cards o the top while his opponent was backing off. Ed came out of the improvised hiding place he made of a loose crate to watch.“DUEL!” They both yelled at the same time, their disks lighting up at the word. DUEL START(4000) Alexander Vs Nate (4000) “Being the challenged, I’ll go…” Alex was interrupted with a quick word from Nate that resembled “Second”. Alex cursed at this fowl play.“I draw!” Nate yelled, “And I play Mausoleum of the Emperor! Now we can both Tribute summon from our Life Points! And I pay 2000 of mine (2000) to play Elemental Hero Bladedge in Attack (2600/1800)!” Alex smirked on the inside at this-his face remained a mask. However, there was always one flaw that E-Hero players failed to respect. “I then play the Equip card, Indirect Barrier! He is now immune to destruction via card effect!” There went that backdoor. “Your move!” He yelled. “Ok, time to reinforce my hand!” He placed his Vampire Psychic between his Vampire Legend, Undead Ritual, Vampire Soul, Vampire Paladin and Mind Control. “To commence, I play Mind Control! I claim control of your Bladedge now!” The yellow-clad warrior marched across to Alex’s field.“I also play Vampire Ritual! By discarding two cards, I can Special Summon any Vampire monster from my hand!” A mysterious, purple 12-pointed star inside a circle appeared before Alex, and he threw the Paladin into it. There was a flash of white light, and the ironclad Vampire Legend came out of the other end, this brown, tattered cape flowing in the breeze (2500/2000). “As backup, I play the Spell card, Mind Control! I can take control of one of your monsters for the remainder of the turn-and I choose Bladedge!” As Alex said this, small threads shot out of the card’s image and hit Bladedge in the arms and legs. They tightened and dragged the golden-clad warrior to his side, greying him out in the process. “Now, I summon Vampire Psychic! (300/200) And because he’s a Level 1 Tuner monster, and I have two Level 7 monsters on my side of the field, I can sacrifice all three of them…” At this, they all fell dead, and small, purple balls equalling the Levels appeared above them. “…To Synchro Summon Vampire Nightshader!!!” A large earthquake, followed by a huge geyser forming in front of Alex occurred. The geyser broke, and out from the dust and rubble came a huge figure, at least 10 meters high. His skin was whiter than the clouds and his robes were all in black. As Nightshader (4500/0) towered over his owner in a protective manner, Alex smirked. “Still think that you can defeat me, scum?” No response was heard. “Fine. One shot, one kill, Nightshader!” Upon these words, the large monster threw his head backwards, and then threw it back to produce a laser the diameter comparable to that of a truck. It found its target, launching Nate at least 7 meters before hitting the ground and skidding another 5 (0 LP). “And that,” Alex smirked, “Is why I’m the best duellist here, got it?”
