MarbleZone
Apparently there was a rule against religious topics, but somehow 3 new threads pop up every week in General, Polls and Debates, and moderators post in them too, so I guess the rule doesn't apply anymore. I'm giving this a shot to reduce the number of new threads popping up. If you wanna comment on religion, post youtube links that relate to the subject, discuss shamanism or other spiritual issues, please use the new Official Religion Thread, also updated in the first post of the Important Threads Sticky, instead of making a new one. If people act like intolerant jerks just for the sake of stroking their own ego with their "superior reasoning skills", the thread will be locked and further Religious Discussion will be prohibited in General and all of its sub-sections. A couple of recent threads have proven me that this community can carry out a half-decent discussion on this matter without being overly offensive, so let's try and keep civil. I'll use the former Hopi Prophecy thread, since it seems to be going well enough, and you can carry on from there. Ongoing threads in Debates will remain open for the time being so as not to break discussion abruptly, but ideally use the new thread in the future. To Moderators, if you disagree with this decision, let me know and I'll undo it. To regular members, if you have other suggestions on this subject, post here. If you agree with this and have nothing else to suggest/criticize, please refrain from posting. ;)
Mehmani
On the Thread: An Official Religion Thread was tried out, it was sort of boycotted and then it died. On the minority statement:Actually, it's more of a 60/40 split about religion views.
Dark
On the Thread: An Official Religion Thread was tried out' date=' it was sort of boycotted and then it died. On the minority statement:Actually, it's more of a 60/40 split about religion views.[/quote'] It's still in Debates, iirc. But religion threads don't (and have never) worked out in this forum, so I don't know why you are giving us another chance. I'll see how it goes, and probably lol later. And most people who take part in religious debates are atheist, which is where the "zomg so many atheists on the intranetz" mentality comes about. Because someone atheist will say something like"Religion is just a bunch of Bull."And then some religious member will come along and start whining then it'll get locked with a few members getting warnings and bans. I'ma be like Dark. I'll lol later. ;D
MarbleZone
I'm against banning a certain type of discussion altogether as soon as I can actually do something about it. For now, I'm trying to reduce the number of threads on the subject, but banning the entire topic right now seems too drastic and, to be honest, it feels slightly like I'd be abusing power. We'll see. Like I said before, if it still doesn't work out, it'll be forbidden.

Βyakuya
Well as long as we are not too bias and being very claiming about religious prophecies, we can talk about it I guess..
Dark
But it'll never work Sure it will. If religious and atheist dumbasses alike are banned from the thread altogether, then it actually might lead to some insightful discussion. ...yeah, it'll never work. But hell, MarbleZone can try. Maybe it will work, under his jurisdiction of... marbles.

Eury
IMO, YCM has become better at handling Religion topics. It's not as bad as it once was when we had people like HORUS here. Sure, there are still some people who still can't handle it and they let their beliefs blind them, but it's a minority. I'm sure as long as no one bashes a religion in any way, we'll be fine. Amethyst Phoenix
Now' date=' I know most people here are atheists, and a minority have religious beliefs that they're not so good at defending, but nevertheless, I'm giving this a shot to reduce the number of new threads popping up.[/quote'] Taking a shot at one side in an official announcement designed to end the incessant bickering inspires massive amounts of faith in your competence, at least in me. Massive amounts of faith.
MarbleZone
Judging my competence, or lack thereof, based on a portrayal of this site's core problem regarding religious discussion seems inadequate, but to each their own. If both sides were at equal footing, trust me, this would not have been necessary. That said, I will remove that line for those it may offend - though, standing from the religious believer perspective, I see nothing wrong with it - it's this site's reality and one of the reasons the problem exists in the first place. MarbleZone
Haven't decided yet. This'll probably be unstickied and locked after a while, it was valid contribution and deleting it all doesn't seem right after I specifically asked for opinions. But if a staff member with more experience than me (i.e., all of them :P) tells me these are supposed to be deleted, then yes, they will be. Let's try to stay on topic now, please ;)

He did it with the chronicle of YCM thing. OT: Most of the posts in the ORT are people saying that it won't work. Despite this, it is.
