DarthSuhail
All of you are a bunch of bumbling computer idiots. My bf has a virus program called Lost Door V2.2 which can turn these things off and go unnoticed. Also' date=' having more than one anti-virus will make them kill each other. Basically any anti-virus can be taken down easily but if I HAD to choose you're better of making your own. Just go with ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4Β also to those that think just downloading things will give you viruses you're dead wrong. Just opening up an e-mail can launch a keylogger[/quote']Β - First off, anti-virus programs do not 'kill each other', you are confusing them with firewalls, having two firewalls in action simultaneously causes ports to be allowed by one, and blocked by another, causing failed requests. 2 anti-virus programs will not conflict with each other, their real time scanning services running in seperate instances may cause noticeable lag on less capable machines, but will not, in any way effect the initial level of protection you recieve from the program.Β - Secondly, you should stick with more recognised security software manufacturers such as McAfee or Microsoft because, although they are targeted more often than others, their research, development and virus tracking labs are constantly searching for new viruses to protect against. The developers of the programs you mentioned will rely on security bulitins issued by companies, like those stated above to update their own virus definitions, they will not have adequate funding to run their own research centers.Β - Lastly, opening an email cannot initiate a keylogging program on the local machine. Viruses cannot be placed inside Plain Text or HTML formats that the emails are rendered as. Problems begin occurring when the user allows the automatic download of pictures (which can contain keyloggers and other viruses) and other attachments. GraveHorizon
I got a virus/malware on my computer a few weeks after I got it through Craigslist (it was fantastic). Weeks of perfect use, then malware comes along and ruins my dream! After a month of making things progressively worse (bad>worse>worst>better), I figured out how to run the reinstallation disc (couldn't run it from the OS, didn't find out how to get around it for so long due to a combination of laziness and oversight). Now I run Microsoft Security Essentials, with some McAfee thing in my browser that has check marks next to "safe" sites. What sucks is that even though I'm virus free, the hard drive sounds louder than it did before the incident. Hmmmmm...Β How my computer got infected in the first place? Ironically, I installed an anti-virus program that turned out to be pro-virus. The unironic twist is that I downloaded it for free from a suspect site. :P Moral of the story: Don't trust the system!Β (Something about the retelling of this event seems vaguely familiar, yet somehow different, as if new details relevant to this thread have been added in a few places...)Β PS: Fuc* Norton. It did nothing to help me.

But a Mac is useful for nothing else, so... xDΒ I run McAfee, but I feel that Norton is a lot better. Also use Malwarebytes' and[b']Spybot[/b]. DO NOT USE WINDOWS DEFENDER EVER. Problems begin occurring when the user allows the automatic download of pictures (which can contain keyloggers and other viruses) and other attachments.Β and that's how I can tell you don't know a thing about keyloggers and hacking.First I'll begin with the bolded. With the right viral program like Poison Ivy, we can in fact have them kill each other.Β Then the italicized. NOD32 is well known, you just don't know that much about anti-viruses. NOD32 is a gamer's antivirus.Β Then the second bolded. 007 Keylogger or the Silent Keylogger computer noob. Opening the e-mail will force the program to download itself onto the computer using specific commands by your own computer. For example. I use the E-mail Bomber so when you open up the viral e-mail then it will launch Your Command Promptgiving it commands to download the keylogger thus infecting your computer. the Silent Keylogger cannot be picked up by anti-viruses. the 007 Keylogger disables your firewall until you remove the keylogger. Re moving the keylogger requires the second half of the program which removes the keylogger. These aren't the keyloggers that you can program with c++ either.
