Creating a fic universe: The Characters (Help needed)

Well, I have an idea for a fic that's been burning in my brain. It takes place in the 5d's universe between seasons 1 and 2 during the construction of the Daedalus Bridge. As usual, a dark organization is working behind the scenes, using the game of Duel Monsters for their own purposes. However, this group has a brilliant plan: When trying to take souls, don't challenge professionals, challenge idiots! By keeping their matches low-profile, they've managed to keep under the radar. However, after a chance encounter with the duelist "Nameless" who gets lucky and defeats one of their cronies, their plans start to unravel and they know they have to stop Nameless before everything falls apart!

 

The idea of this thread is to help me develop the characters more, particularly the bad guys. I'll put more details as I get to them.

 

Main Characters:

 

Heroes:

 

Nameless (Needs a name...suggestions?)

Male. Uses a Spellcaster deck. He and his friends go to an ordinary High School in New Domino City as they are not rich enough nor do they have ridiculous enough hair to get into the Dueling Academy. Their decks are made of spare cards and they have NO synchros. The only cards of any rarity he owns are Dark Magician, DMG, and Torrential Tribute. All in all a below-average duelist. Then again, it's just a hobby for him and nothing serious. He's a rather aloof and laid-back person most of the time.

 

However, he does have something peculiar about his past: When the Dark Signers assaulted the Arcadia Movement, he was one of roughly 120 people to be drawn into one of the two Earthbound Immortals. With the defeat of the Dark Signers, he was returned along with them. According to tests, there were no changes except for the memories of the experience.

 

Due to his lackluster dueling skills, Nameless becomes a target for The DAD user of the Order of the Dark Pact who sends a minion to duel him. He is forced into it when the minion kidnaps Childhood Friend. While usually a poor duelist Nameless's deck goes off successfully and he ends up winning. This makes him a target for the order as well as a subject of interest of Sector Security who has been trying to stop the group. Nameless must adapt to being both target and bait as his adventures continue...

 

 

Childhood Friend (I have a name in mind)

Female. Same age as Nameless and goes to the same school. Has feelings for Nameless, irritated that he doesn't notice her, but also relieved that he hasn't noticed anyone else. She's the more active of the two and more extroverted. Definately a guy's girl, but not full-on tomboy as she still enjoys being feminine. Likes animals.

 

At one point was kidnapped as bait for Nameless. Her soul was placed into his "Dark Magician Girl" card as ante to force Nameless to duel. She was actually the one to deliver the finishing blow. After this, she figured she should learn to defend herself better and developed a Gladiator Beast deck.

 

 

Alien Maniac (No name yet)

Male. Always seen with dousing rods and antenna helmet, this UFO-nut thinks that Nameless's vanishing during the EI incident was an alien abduction(There was a cover-up for what really happened, of course) and tries to get Nameless to talk about the experience.

 

As you can imagine, he runs an Alien deck with "Alien Overlord" as his usual trump card.

 

 

Handsome genius:

Male. This guy is both intelligent and reasonably good-looking with his glasses on. His theory is that Nameless was drawn into a Different Dimension during the incident (He was sort of right).

 

Uses a Different Dimension deck. Often competes with Alien Maniac over theories. After the initial questioning, however, the three sort of became friends.

 

 

Ordinary Guy! (Needs fleshing out).

This guy seems sort of average and forgettable. There's just nothing terribly remarkable about him other than an insatiable urge to get admitted to Duel Academy. A tag-along into the group like Childhood Friend. Sometimes drags the group into his schemes.

 

His deck tend to fluctuate.

 

 

Unfortunate Girl

An eight year old girl from Satellite and stricken with poverty, this girl's mother is being harassed by loan sharks and is near the breaking point. After Nameless gives her the card "Pixie Knight" because he didn't need it, she meandered into card store where the clerk let her put a deck together out of spare cards. Despite this, she proves to be an astounding prodigy, being a good enough duelist to win cash prizes to try to help her mother.

 

She uses a ramshackle deck made from random but surprisingly effective cards.

 

Prized Student:

Male. a top-ranking duelist at Duel Academy known for his good looks and serious attitude. Treated with elite status due to his family's wealth. When Nameless and the others make it through an open-exhibition tournament, he hoped to duel Nameless. However, the administration made sure Nameless didn't show up. Feeling outraged and dishonored, Student seeks out Nameless to challenge him. After the duel, the two become acquaintances.

 

Student uses a Lightsworn Deck.

 

 

VILLAINS: ORDER OF THE DARK PACT

 

A lot of these are Speculative. Each member of the group has a single copy of a "Dark Counterpart" card. (Dark Rainbow Dragon excluded due to already being in the show). If you develop me a villain using one of the cards, make sure that their deck works well with it. If a character needs more details (Which is all of them but the DAD user) feel free to fill those in, as well. These are the roles out there:

 

 

Dark Armed Dragon user

Male. Nameless's first rival. A power-hungry individual who is responsible for most of the Shadow Duels around New Domino City. He is gathering souls to empower his "Dark Armed Dragon", successfully causing it to fission into two! By far the most aggressive, he is the first member of the order that Nameless faces.

 

Uses a TeleDAD deck from its prime before most of the restrictions.

 

 

Dark Horus

Female. Fabled Deck, tags with Dark Nepthys

 

 

Dark Nepthys

Male. Uses Dark World. Tags with Dark Horus. The two work well together, possibly twins or lovers?

 

Dark Grepher

 

Dark General Freed

 

Dark Simorgh

Relatively low-key Mai Valentine fan. Uses a Harpie/Mist Valley deck.

 

Darklord Zerato

 

Dark Voltanis

Trap Chain deck

 

Dark Valkyria

Young girl, brat, obviously…hm…

 

Darknight Parshath

 

Dark Creator:

Person in charge of all of them. Sees the others as beneath him and obviously intends to use them for his gain...
