JasperH
A while back I announced a game called YuGiOh Rebirth on another part of these forums. The game is progressing well and I am looking for some decks to provide with the next version I will bring out. However, the game can only handle normal monsters currently, so they will need to be decks that contain nothing but normal monsters. So, who can build me an interesting deck with that restriction? I don't want you to create the most powerful deck you can, I am looking for something with an interesting theme instead. There are two ways to submit a deck for the game: 1. Simply make a decklist. 2. Post it in an xml form, follow the instructions at the bottom of this post. The second way is some more work, but it's more likely to get integrated into the game if you use that form. When you just hand in a decklist, I will have to convert it to xml, which will cost me some work, so if you use way number one, it depends on how awesome your deck is and on how many submissions I get. If you use method number two, I will include your deck unless there is some reason not to (for example, if your submission was not a serious one). Submissions can be posted here, on my site or sent to me by email at yugiohrebirth [at> gmail I am looking forward to some creative decks! XML guide: once for each different card: <card> <name>%name%</name> <cardSubType>normal</cardSubType> <image>cardpics/%img%</image> <level>%lvl%</level> <attribute>%attribute%</attribute> <type>%type%</type> <attack>%atk%</attack> <defense>%def%</defense> <text></text> </card> %name%: name of the card%img%: if you provide a picture of the card, put the name of the file here, otherwise just leave it empty%lvl%: level of the monster%attribute%: attribute of the monster%atk%: the attack of the monster%def%: the defense of the monster Then for the deck: <deck> <card name="%cardName%" count="%count%" /> <card name="%cardName%" count="%count%" /> ...</deck> %cardName%: The name of a card%count%: the number of times that card is included
-Griffin
Only normal monsters is boring.Unless this is a vast improvement on the WC games, I doubt I'd play it. It seems very behind. On your site (and yes, I looked), you mentioned that a target for alpha 0.5 is a Deck editor, and that Spell Cards will be introduced. That makes two problems. Firstly, I take it we're only designing for the NPCs? They're usually heavily themed, so we should really be told the themes.Secondly, since you're introducing some spell cards, all these "normal only" Decks will quickly get obsolete and turn out to be a waste of time. Wait until you're happy that the card pool won't expand much before asking people to make Decks for a game like this.

Having only normal monsters is not too fancy indeed and as you mentioned, however, that only makes it more of a challenge to make a deck that will have players in awe when they see them. The game is not behind, it's just far from done :P I am not looking for the most intricate decks ever, just for some people that want to spend some 15 minutes making something interesting. The decks will be for human and AI alike, but there is no such thing as a NPC yet, thus there is no necessary theme either. While alpha 0.4, the version for which I would want these decks, is due soon, I estimate that it will take at least a month before alpha 0.5 comes out, seeing that I will be away and rather busy for quite some time and I will be unable to do much work on it. That the deck won't be viable too long just means you shouldn't put too much time in it, not try to make the perfect deck, but simply submit something interesting you were able to come up with. JasperH
It's worse than that, really, Tronta. When I was saying only normal monster, I actually meant no cards other than normal monsters... In a way it is a good thing that we have nothing but normal monsters, though. The reason we have only normal monsters is the fact that the system that provides them will be one of the most intricate ones of the game. All one needs to do is make a correct file and a card is added. I am not just talking about changing a card's level, I am talking about being able to change every detail of a card, right down to the specifics of the card. It's just that making a deck takes such a painstakingly long time, because I don't know any cards, really. I need to look up which cards fit the bill and then look up every smallest detail, as I simply do not know the cards. I just thought I would ask you to help me. I guess it's back to the drawing board for me. I just wanted to offer some variety in the game as the gameplay isn't offering much. I wonder why again it was that I started making a yugioh game... I guess it was the amazing heritage of Edo's game it would have (which goes beyond just playing YuGiOh). That and the fact that I thought it would be easier than making this for another game (well, not by much, it turns out...). Oh, and that it wasn't a dream I have had for a long time and for which I had made many stupid ideas many of which had long since been scrapped. Ah, well, never mind my whining. I'll just see what I can make of it.
DARKPLANT RISING
Do you realize that if this rule is set, Millenium Shield and Labyrinth Wall become virtually invinsible? And...BEWD is obvious.3 each is a must.

JasperH
Do you realize that if this rule is set, Millenium Shield and Labyrinth Wall become virtually invinsible? And...BEWD is obvious.3 each is a must. It's not a rule really, it's more of a restriction due to the fact that the game just can't handle any other card yet. I too don't want this rule, but it's just how it currently is. Player 1: I summon Gene-Warped Warwolf!Player 2: I don't have a Gene-Warped in hand, so I'll set Renge!Player 1: I trib my Warwolf to set Millenium Shield! Who'll deck out first? Nope, you can't do this. It's not like you will be playing against an opponent bringing a good deck in a desperate attempt to win. Instead, you will be playing against a very simple AI whose deck you chose as well. So why play cards like Millennium Shield if it's not nice to so? JasperH
I released version alpha 0.4 (unlike I had planned, after I was away from office instead of before), so there is no more need for decks. I would like to thank everyone that participated in this thread, as while nobody made a complete deck (save one with non-monster cards) I got a number of ideas from this topic, which I incorporated into some of the decks I created myself. Thanks!
