Supreme Gamesmaster
Yo. This is the new build of Revelation of Procella; seeing its changes should explain my inactivity. Download link As before, Revelation of Procella is a Touhou Project clone using characters created by YCM in patterns created by me. This time around, though, things are a little different: specifically, I've gotten started on the main game.Changes from last time:Previews of stages 1, 2, and 3F have been implemented, and stage 4F is, as before, completely finished.Nyoko Ochida (Stage 1), Velon Momental, and Desdemona Valtiel have been finished, though Desdemona still lacks Lunatic normal attacks.A power card system is in place. A player starts with zero power, and gains one power for every point card they collect. Dying loses them twenty power, and no more than a hundred twenty eight power can be obtained at a time (however, more point cards can be collected). At certain intervals, shot power increases. Note that in scripts outside the main game, power starts at a hundred twenty eight and doesn't go below a hundred and eight after dying, and that in boss rush, the player is always at maximum power.Bombs are pretty much done, though I'm going to touch up Purge and Annihilation Fields and make them much less pretty later so I'm not plagiarizing. Planned for 0.11:Bugfixes (inevitable) for the power system.Different Annihilation and Purge Fields.Nyoko Stage 3E completed.Desdemona Stage 5 completed. Planned for 0.2:Graphics and music. Planned for 0.5:Main game complete on Normal. So yeah. If anyone cares, it's here. EDIT: I should probably mention that, being based on Touhou, this game is... difficult. Brushfire
It sounds like this idea was around beforehand- can I have a little background as I haven't been around, please? =] I'll give it a download; see what I think and then I'll post back here. Supreme Gamesmaster
Can you provide us with screenshoots?[spoiler=Here are some, shrunken half-size] ...Genner doesn't photograph very well. :?It sounds like this idea was around beforehand- can I have a little background as I haven't been around, please? =]I'll give it a download; see what I think and then I'll post back here.Back when YCM was white, I made an RP called Revelation of Procella with the intent of making it into a Danmakufu video game. I got enough applicants, and though the RP itself died, I continued to make the game using a plot I'd planned beforehand. That's this. As a result, all the bosses from stages 1-3 are characters that others on YCM created, without necessarily knowing what kind of game I was going to make; it was rather a challenge to make patterns of things like simple slashes and emotion-stealing lasers. But I fail at GFX, so I'm using stolen sprites and default backgrounds for now; I also lack a MIDI synthesizer and am thus stuck with using stolen music as well. I plan on obtaining the GFX later from some do-gooder on Maidens of the Kaleidoscope, or here if possible.
Yasu
You should use the bullet replace script :o
Supreme Gamesmaster
Well, I use a bullet replace script; specifically, the Concealed the Conclusion one. I know there are others out there, like a ZUN rip and a few made for less prolific fangames than CtC; I just choose not to use them. That's mainly due to the Stage 3 bosses; without the semi-transparent leaves, it's very difficult to convey the idea of "light" in a manageable, non-eye-bleeding attack. Brushfire
Alright, I'm back. Personally, I actually found it a bit difficult. It's a simple concept, not all that different to Space Invaders if you want to look at it that way... but I kept dying against the first boss and her special attack. Maybe I just suck. :P You've really gotta work on the effects for the "Hold X" move... white dots on Photoshop don't do the trick. xD I'd be happy to try and help out with that, but I'm not all that great at those kind of effects. Supreme Gamesmaster
Uh, hold X? :? I know the effects I have suck royally, but... hold X? And yeah, it's hard. Probably should have mentioned that.
Brushfire
That's what I'm calling it, lol. The move that you do when you Hold X on the keyboard... yeah, that thing. Might be a special move or something.
usetheforcehan
How do you expect us to survive against a bazillion of energy missiles? Look like a game dedicated to sadomasochist users. Gotta download it! B)
Supreme Gamesmaster
@Brush: Oooh, bombs. You don't have to hold it, though, just tap it.Most of 'em involve bullets, though, and Emily B's is absurdly pretty 'cuz I didn't make it. As for Emily A, the only one I can think of with white dots, the way effect objects are drawn makes it really hard to do trails properly. That said, if you have an alternative, I'd be glad to hear it; I don't claim any graphical skills whatsoever and would love the help. @usetheforcechan: Well, I must be doing something right; Perfect Cherry Blossom was once described as "a fireworks display being sick," and that's the difficulty level I was going for. That said, I can finish stage 4 on Normal with Felicia B, and I'm much, much better with the Emily options, so it's not impossible. @All: Okaaaay, I've already had to fix bugs in Emily and Felicia A about entirely different things. >.< I won't release the updates until I have a significant amount, but know that the current build is pretty buggy.
