Luna Lovegood
There was a discussion on advertising a while ago.
Frunk
@Josh: 5 points. You wanted me to stay banned for a week, yet Bro figured it out in 10 minutes or so. :/ I asked you to post a thread in the Mod's to find out why I was banned, for Bro told me it was your idea. THAT rule was written Janurary 8, 2008. YCMaker never wrote that, or any of the rules. I wrote that and included the part about PMing him, because really, I knew he'd never respond and back then we didn't want any advertising at all. Times have changed. This isn't funny, Josh, don't try to liven it up with snide remarks at my memberbase, sarcastic or not. Everybody who joins remarks on the pleasantness of them. I made this thread because in that convo you kept changing the subject. I omitted that from the logs I posted but can share them if anybody wants them. Guest JoshIcy
So what, drop the rule and leave it up to how bad what in the link really is? EDIT: We had all been having problems with the new mod tools. I didn't expect it to be for more than a day anyway.
Frunk
Case-by-case would be far better than the current system of no warnings and 3-month bans. :/ I don't know if you've ever been banned, but it's not pleasant if you have no warning, and even though I don't use YCM much if left a week I would've gone a little stir-crazy I'm sure. You did not say it like you didn't know how to do it, you said it as though you would "review my case" in a week or so when you could be bothered. Guest JoshIcy
Alright then. When the time comes and I see a Super Online (MSN or otherwise), we can ask them to remove it and add a new post to the End clearing it up. Really? ._."... Uugh, my interpersonal skills have been shot to hell. I really did mean as "We didnt know how to do it".
Frunk
This isn't the only rule that's the problem. The entire thing needs to be torn down and rewritten from scratch. It was written before you joined for crying out loud. Follow my SMURF idea for rules: Simple. Modern. Understandable. Reasonable. Friendly. Guest JoshIcy
Get back on MSN/unblock me and we'll sit down and talk about it then. After all is said and done, post the convo about it in the Mod Forum and we'll all decide together. Since every mod so far has been moderating based on YOUR rules. Frunk
I've just been off-line. Like I've said many times before, they're not my rules, nor Tkill93's, nor Azuh's. Ty Googled "forum rules" and came up with them.
Guest Chaos Pudding
As was stated in the thread I made a while ago, no problem here with adverts for other forums. It's when members start PMing other members they may or may not know very well or at all with what amounts to a recruiting offer that I start getting annoyed. Just having something in your sig shouldn't really cause any retribution. Hell, link it if you want. You're not forcing anyone to click it. Just don't start PMing or otherwise directly contacting individual members about it.
Death Metal
Cool thread... I agree, the rules should be re-written. They are outdated and don't form well with the current YCM like they did 3 years ago. I would suggest that the moderation team starts on that ASAP to avoid mistakes like this. Frunk
Upon Icy's request, I've begun drafting a new set of rules. This thread has served its purpose and will now be locked.
