Noah's Ark - Found

A huge wooden ship like structure was found on top of mount Ararat.

Its sizes and dimensions are very similar to that of the Ark in Noahs' Ark.

Which, from the Bible is the place where the flood was situated.

My knowledge of the Bible isn't perfect, but this mountain is either where the ship was made/ most likely landed from within the area.

*There are other reports if you Google it.

But on top of a mountain, that's a long way to just leave a huge wooden boat for hoaxers.

I came up with counter evidence;

Maybe, some later civilized people build an ark and placed it on top of the mountain/ built in there- but really, its a really long hike, really cold, and the tools would be complicated. So this counter evidence isn't really that useful.

Quotes:

"They said wood taken from the site, which is more than 13,000ft above sea level, dates to 2,800BC."

"'I saw a structure built with plank-like timber.

'Each plank was about eight inches wide. I could see tenons, proof of ancient construction predating the use of metal nails.

'We walked about 100 metres to another site. I could see broken wood fragments embedded in a glacier, and some 20 metres long.'

The structure had several compartments, some with wooden beams"

There are more quotes and more detailed information on the link of the news report from the Daily Mail.

I was told about this discovery by my Philosophy & Ethics teacher and to be honest it really convinced me that the Bible has some truth, even though it is a story, and most things are, there is a lot of conclusive evidence for the 'fables'.

I know of other evidence for The Red Sea Parting (Moses), which I wont go into much but Napoleon visited the area and the sea parted for him (because the waters on a slope, the water often 'parts' but really leaves an empty bank for a while, some of Napoleons men were almost killed from this incident [Remembered from the Discovery Channel on Bible Stories]

Look, I'm a christian, but just because they found an old boat doesn't mean its Noah's ark. I want to believe that it is, but I'm not going to do backflips over the primary method of travel in 2800 BC. Then again, if they don't find any fossil's around the boat....it'll be hard to believe that it isn't true.

Fossils can't really form after about 2000 years.

Plus maybe Noah moved all the animals and just left the boat?

It's hard to believe, even though I'm not Christian. There has to be more evidence than a wooden section.

Well considering it was dated back 2,800 years. And they walked 100 metres into it, found in the right place.

I mean, very VERY BIG coincidence to find a huge wooden boat on top of a mountain...

People are forgetting that the Old Testament shouldn't be taken literally; it's purpose is just to provide philosophies and morals to its' readers, using a method known as symbolic language. The world wasn't actually created in 6 literal days, 'cus it's been proven that our universe evolved over millions of years. The entire human race didn't actually start from Adam and Eve - we evolved over a long stretch of time.

So it doesn't matter if it's actually Noah's ark, real or not. All that matters, is the perspective and strength of your faith. If ya wanna believe (in a literal sense) every single word the Old Testament reads, then go ahead. If you're devoted to a different faith, or if yer happy without any beliefs at all; that's fine - you're not hurting anyone. When I die and I found out there is no heaven, or God, or anything at all: it's all good. I'll be fine. Better than nothin', ahhhah!

Of course the Old Testament is riddled with Fables and metaphors.

But when there is evidence of one of the stories, then maybe there's a possibility.

I'm no choosing my faith on one bit of evidence anyway.

But it did make me think.

Well of course I think its true, as I also belive in heavan, and hell, and many other religious things, my reason for beliving in heaven, your concious mind, its just impossible to think that once you die, your concious mind does to, and theres nothing left to it, your conciousness, and soul have to do somthing, in which case, heaven or hell, its simple if you really think about it

I've always imagined death is just like goin' to sleep, it's just that yer not gonna wake up.

I dunno, that's just how I've always felt about death. Unless someone's torturing me, or I get shot or something.

I agree with this completely. I am a Christian and i think Noah's Ark never happened. i think it was a parable.

Uh... the only proof they offered were some interior shots of something that was wooden. They claimed it was found on top of Mt. Ararat, but where's their proof of that? And, for that matter, where's the proof that the wood was actually dated? And if it was dated, that it wasn't just transported there? Or that the sample hadn't been contaminated.

Sorry, brah, this has hoax written all over it.

Where's the evidence to prove that? I mean, really, the human evolution chain has so many gaps in it, there's no solid proof, other than theories and assumptions, to actually say that we evolved over millions of years.

I also agree with Chaos. Seems like a hoax.

We are not getting into an evolution debate in this topic. The human evolution chain has far fewer gaps in it than you realize, and all the evidence is well documented.

Well I only raised the topic because I was interested in the 'find'.

Finds like this always raise discussion.

I wasn't really giving an opinion or anything, I'm not a Christian... so don't go bashing at me D: (If you thinking about it)

But as soon as you go to sleep, you always have a dream, some you dont remember, but you always have a dream when your asleep, but if death is just like going to sleep, then heaven or hell is that dream, y'know what I'm saying?

I don't have dreams every single night, though. So my view of death: a dream-less, never ending sleep (?).
