JerryFreelance
Chapter 1: Ashley? ASHLEY?! HAHAHAHA! 6:29 read the wall clock. Arios’ heart was like a series of punches from Cassius Clay. In less than one minute, his chance would be gone. The chance of a lifetime. This was it. If he made this, he could be a part of the biggest tournament in history. Or was it a tournament? Arios didn’t seem to know. What he did know, however, was that he needed to be in this. Not for him, but for his mother in the hospital, who was in desperate need of a bypass surgery. The cost was incomprehensible, so Arios really needed this. He heard an extremely strident foghorn-like sound and in an instant, he was up and sprinting towards center stage. He arrived at his side of the field with less than two seconds to spare. He stepped on a tile and instantly, the entire field lit up. Arios heard a loud groan. He loaded his deck into the hologram machine, and looked up to see a hooded figure with a cane some thirty yards away from him. The figure removed his hood to reveal a gray balding head. From the wrinkles on his face and clear lack of muscle definition, Arios could safely guess that this “proctor” was about seventy years old or so, and sniggered at the thought of an “ol’ timer” dueling. This was going to be a cinch. Somehow, the proctor heard Arios, and immediately interpreted it to be due to exactly what Arios thought. He responded in a cold voice. “With great age comes great wisdom. Have you ever heard that young man?” “Nope, because a dinosaur is probably the one who told you that.” Arios responded as a sly grin enveloped his face. The crowd roared with laughter. “Ah, so we have a smartass on our hands, do we,” said the old man. “Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Alden. I am the greatest duelist this world has ever seen.” Arios interrupted Alden: “Probably because you’re the only duelist who has been on the earth long enough for the world to see.” Once again the crowd burst into laughter. “Please refrain from interrupting me,” Alden calmly responded. He stood up straight to reveal a much taller frame. However, as he arose, a loud crack resonated throughout the auditorium. Alden shrieked loudly in pain. As he collected himself, he finished his response: “Contrary to popular belief, I am only thirty-two years old. People have asked me why I look so old. Don’t do weed. And don’t smoke. Anyways, allow us to make duel.” “Yeah go Ashley!” A woman in the crowd cheered loudly. “Ashley?” What started out as a simple giggle elevated to a guffaw from Arios, shared by the entire audience. The color of Alden’s face was tantamount to that of a tomato. “Ladies first then,” Arios exclaimed as he drew his opening hand. Alden drew his hand and set two cards without saying a word. He then set a monster and passed his turn. “The slient type, eh? That’s fine by me! I’ll also set a monster, but I won’t be having a backfield. Go!” Alden again silently drew a card. “I’ll flip my Negativity Dragon – Inferno and then summon my Negativity Warrior – Shadow! Allow me to explain. When Shadow comes to the field by means of Normal Summon, I get to draw a card for each Minus monster on my side of the field. Since I have two, I get two cards from my deck! Excellent, isn’t it?” Alden drew two cards and cackled. “Now I shall use Inferno’s effect to attack you directly!” Once again Arios interrupted. “Wait wait wait. I’ve never heard of a “Minus Monster” in my life. What is that?” A smirk crossed Alden’s face. “Minus monsters have negative stats. That means that when I attack you directly with a Minus monster, you gain life points instead of losing them.” “What’s the point of that?” “Special abilities, my son.” “Special abilities? What’s the point of that? The point of this game is to overpower your opponent! Special abilities are for the back seat.” “If you think that way, then so be it. You will lose this duel. Now, Inferno, attack him now!” The dragon ran at Arios, who had now put on a fearful look at the huge speed at which the dragon came. But, instead of assaulting Arios, the dragon stopped before him, stood up on its two feet, and hugged Arios, whose life points increased to 4400. Arios’ previously tightly clenched figure released himself and allowed this hug to be given. The dragon calmly walked back to its position on the field. Suddenly, almost out of nowhere, a blaze surrounded Arios, and eventually burned him. “What?!” Arios was completely confused. “When my Inferno attacks you directly, you lose life points equal to double his original attack stat. And then negativitized. Meaning you take 800 damage. So now, my friend, you are down to 3600. I believe I’m winning.” Arios – 3600Alden – 4000 Arios’ jaw dropped. He was completely astounded. How could he be losing to a bunch of monsters without positive attack points? He became confusion. “I end my turn. Go Arios.” Arios drew and hollered across the field. “With pleasure! I’ll summon my Soulless Enchantress and then attack your stupid little shadow guy. That means you take 1900!” The spellcaster created an aura of green light and threw it at the standing warrior, who died on impact. Arios – 3600Alden – 2100 Alden drew his next card and made his move. “I’ll set one card. Now, Inferno, attack him directly!” The dragon did the exact same thing. Once again, Arios was not expecting the blaze that surrounded him, and was taken by surprise. Arios – 3200Alden – 2100 Alden glared at Arios and finally ended his turn. Arios drew his card and instantly, a huge grin spread over his face. Alden looked a bit worried. “What did you draw child?” “The game winning card! I’ll tribute my face-down monster to summon my super-powerful Soulless Samurai! He has 3800 ATK! Which is more than enough to kill you! Sure I need to discard one card to attack, but at that price for the game, who wouldn’t do it?” A great warrior stepped upon the field. He wielded a sharp sword, and stood nearly seven feet off the ground. He had a smirk on his face and began twirling his sword. “Now my warrior, attack his stupid dragon!” A green aura began emanating from the warrior’s eyes, and it created a steam that flew from his eyes and around his head. His smirk became a huge smile, and he charged at Alden. Alden cowered back, preparing for the hit that would end this duel. ~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~ Credits: All Minus monsters created by Star*Trainer All Soulless monsters created by bhim

JerryFreelance
Sorry it took so long... Here it is; the next installment! Chapter 2: Ashley? ASHLEY?! HAHAHAHA! As the samurai approached Alden, and got closer and closer, suddenly it began snowing. Alden’s eyes were closed, but the snow began pounding harder and harder, and it turned into a blizzard. The samurai slowed down, but refused to let up and stop. Through the snow, Arios could just barely make out a young woman in the distance, just past the samurai. She seemed to be holding a very small animal-type thing in her hands. What Arios saw next frightened him to the point that his eyes were bulging out of his head. A large dragon made completely of ice cut off the samurai. Arios couldn’t see what else happened through the haze, but he knew by Alden’s loud cackle that his uber-powerful warrior had been killed by the dragon. Arios was now confused. The snow was now gone, and Alden decided to explain himself. “My Blizzard Energy trap card makes it so that when you attack a Minus monster I control, your monster is destroyed instead, and then all my Minus monsters gain 500 attack points! So now you’ve wasted a few monsters, or so it would seem.” Arios’ spirits fell instantly as Alden drew his card to make his move. “I’ll tribute both of my monsters to summon my Phoenix of the Six Samurai, and then I’ll use its effect to discard a Twilight Armor Mage and bring a Six Samurai monster to my hand! But it doesn’t really matter what I bring to my hand, because I’ll be discarding it to use my awesome Dark Minus Attack card. This card makes both of us remove all cards in our hands from play and then draw three cards! Then, we both get to special summon all Minus monsters we draw. So get ready, and I hope your deck is loaded up on Minus monsters!” Alden chuckled lightly as he drew his cards. “Oh no! Now you’re going to get it child. I’m going to be special summoning one of the coolest Minus monsters, Minus Warrior – Glisten Wing! Normally, his attack power would be -700, but when he’s special summoned, he gets to be a really strong 2800 attacker! And on top of that, when either of us activates a spell card, we both get to draw a card from our deck! But you know what; I don’t think I need to activate a spell card. I can just attack you directly with my Glisten Wing! Now go my soldier! Attack him directly and end this duel once and for all!” The warrior slowly walked up to Arios and stopped before him. He turned to the side as the sun glared off of his shoulder blades and blinded a confused Arios. He then proceeded to wield a sword and slash at Arios. Are you kidding me? Already? I lost to an old man? How?! A loud clang was heard and the crowd gasped. Even Arios was surprised. Suddenly, out of nowhere, Arios was covered in some sort of armor. A random bystander watching from the stands shouted “SAKURETSU ARMOR!”. The attacking monster was instantly destroyed, and shattered into a million pixels. Arios began breathing again, and felt very relieved. Alden just stood there in shock for a few seconds, before uttering a few choice words, “Well boy. It seems that you have a counter move to every one I make. So I suppose I shall just end my turn.” “Well thanks! I’ll draw and just set one card. Forget about winning this duel! There’s no way I’m gonna let that happen!” Alden seemed to let out a chuckle. “Stupid child. You just let me draw into my trump card! Now watch as I take this game!” Meanwhile… “Yes sir… Yes boss… Yes, it has all been readied… No… He is utterly useless; what do you have your eyes on him fo- Yes I know… I’m sorry sir… Absolutely… It will begin as you wish… I will announce it momentarily…” A man seemed to utter helplessly on a phone. It appeared as if he was being reprimanded on the other line. All of a sudden, a loud boom was heard. The receiver flew from the man’s hands and he stumbled to catch it. As he finally caught the phone, the line was cut. He gasped. All of a sudden, the earth began to rumble. * * *“Wait… What? What’s going on?” Arios seemed worried… One of the students in the stands shouted, “EARTHQUAKE!” The building began to fall, and the students filed out of the gym in a most orderly manner… Or at least, as orderly as it would be under these circumstances. Too many people were trying to exit the gym at once, and the doors were clogged. Everyone was shouting, but their voices were muffled by the rumbling of the earth beneath them. Suddenly, lights began to fall. Alden looked up, eyes wide in fear. He began running, but stumbled and fell, sliding a few feet. All of a sudden, a light fell onto his legs as he attempted to get up. He gasped in pain. Arios saw what had happened to Alden, and immediately sprinted back towards him. He dove at the last second, avoiding a falling light. He slid over to Alden and lifted the light off of Alden. The gym had now gone dark, and the only light available was the light from the outside. Finally, after the struggle, everyone was outside, panicking. Suddenly, a foghorn rang. Alden walked up to Arios, who turned to face him. “You saved my life, son. And that is enough to get you in this tournament. You risked your own life to save mine. That’s what we need in this tournament. But my advice to you is… Get a new deck. Your cards are horrible.” Arios smiled and thanked Alden. That smile became a laugh, and he couldn’t just thank Alden. He grabbed Alden and hugged so tightly that he heard a loud crack again. As Alden howled, Arios looked afraid. “Right, right. No drugs. I got’cha.” Alden attempted to laugh, but the pain refused him. The boat docked. ~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~ Credits: All Minus monsters created by Star*Trainer
