Kizzi
They're the hot new things huh? Anyone tell me more about their setup; what programs they use, do you have a tablet, what model, etc? I don't like being behind, as you can probably tell.

chairman ali
Well to be honest DP's are ONE of the hardest elements in Graphic design. Since you need to have a lot of drawing skills and also some real life painting skills to know how you should paint, stroke, outlines, erase, etc.I've used a Cintiq 21UX for about a month or two. But I never really posted my stuff since I painted everything on 1 layer. But I borrowed it from a friend so its not mine. I order a Intuos 4 XL a few days ago. But there's nothing wrong with using a mouse. All my dp's that I have posted have been made with a mouse. A tablet only helps with controlling the pen pressure and saving time while dp's is about taking all the time you need. The most important element in DP's is to detail your work A LOT. There has to be a lot of detail, whether its cartoon-ish painting, realism, fantasy, etc. Some programs you can use:Corel Painter - I wouldn't recommend such a program if you're going to start digital painting. But if you have painting knowledge then you're pretty much set for it.Photoshop - I prefer the new CS5 version because it shows you how you're using the brush.Corel sketch - Its not bad. It comes with nearly every tablet you buy.Sketchbook Pro - To me this is pretty boss too.

Kizzi
How long does it TAKE YOU to do some of those with a mouse?
chairman ali
I usually take at least 10+hours on a LARGE CANVAS. Painting with a mouse is a pain because there's no pen pressure sensitivity. I think once it took me 30 straight hours on a painting. The canvas was an A3 with 1200 DPI and it was made on 1 layer. I still haven't uploaded it because it lags my computer everytime I open it.

chairman ali
No I'm doing it fine. I've been practicing this photoshop world for about a year now and I know why it lags; (1) The size: DPI + A large size = slow (2) Colour levels. (3) I have a lot of programs opened.
