Quiksilver
Well, folks, here it is. My long-awaited remake of my first fanfic, Yu-Gi-Oh Zero Chance. I have simply updated the plot and such, so it shouldn't be that hard to make the jump for the original to remake. Thanks to all my fans who I made this for, and thanks to you, the reader, for actually taking the time to read my story. Now then- enjoy Yu-Gi-Oh! Zero Chance.
|New York - USA| Unknown Location |2010|March|04|12:34 Ebony bit her lip anxiously. Not good, not good at all, she thought. Thoughts scuttled through her mind on how to get rid of the problem without contacting the boss, but no matter how many ideas she thought of, none of them were good enough. None of them. Finally, Ebony came to a decision. She slipped her hand into her pocket and pulled a slim cell phone, one of a dozen she used nowadays. She could never be too careful- phones could all too easy be tracked. Ebony knew this firsthand. Tapping phones was a part of her job description. She thought for a moment, trying to remember the number the boss had given her a day ago. Like her, he used a variety of phones, most of them used once and never again. Then, she remembered it and started the call which would, although she didn’t know it, change her life. “What.” Typical boss behavior. No hello, no how are you- right to the business at hand. “We have a problem sir.” Ebony replied carefully, walking around the hotel room just to make sure she wasn’t being watched. “What is it?” “I just checked into the Russian satellite. It’s picking up thirty anomalies hotfooting it across Caucasus Mountains. No matter how many times I zoom in, these anomalies remain a blur.” Getting into the Russian satellite had been a feat for one woman, and now Ebony was feeling a little cheated. “Do the Russians know about the anomalies?” “No sir, I don’t think so, sir. I inserted a search program into the satellite’s programming to scan for these…anomalies. I don’t think the Russians have the same type of programming in place.” “Best to be sure though. I’ll activate Mikhail and Anatoly; have them make sure no Russian knows about these anomalies. Now go on. What are the anomalies doing?” “As I said, sir. Racing across the Caucasus Mountains like they need to be somewhere. And sir…how did the Duel Spirits get through-” “Quiet, you fool!” The boss’s voice was sharp. “No names! What if someone was listening in?” “I’m sorry, sir.” Ebony lowered her voice to a whisper. “But how…?” “It… it has to be Stalingrad. They must’ve gotten in through the Stalingrad gate.” “Stalingrad!?” Ebony exclaimed, shocked. “But we locked that gate down! It would have taken a Spirit of enormous power to break the barriers down! It would have to be a monster like…” Ebony’s voice trailed off. The boss understood what she was thinking. “That’s right, fi la mou. I think ZONE is back in this world.” The boss’s voice sounded heavy. ‘I hope to God he’s not, but we can take no chances. It is time to activate Damon Youngblood.” |Washington D.C.| Woodrow Wilson Senior High School |2010|March|05|7:09 I yawned as I sat down in the beat-up chair that had practically been my home for my senior year. Situated in the perfect spot of Mrs. Dawson’s homeroom –neither too close, nor too far-, it had been site to a lot of my fondest memories. It was where I had first met my now-steady girlfriend, Raina Hart. Where I had first gotten a perfect score on my English essay (A once in a lifetime thing for me). Where I had first heard of Duel Monsters, the new card game sweeping the nation, the new card game I was pro at. Yep, this chair had been a happy place for me over the last few months. But not today. Grumpy, eyes half-shut, I slumped into my chair and immediately put my head down on the desk in front of it. It was a bad day when I, Damon Youngblood, did not get my needed eight hours of sleep. And like my grandma always said- trouble always came in threes. I knew, at that point, that the rest of the day would only go downhill for me. Little did I know how right I would be. Anyways. So, as I sat there, sulkily contemplating the blackboard, waiting for class to start, I started to notice a flash of something at the corner of my eye. Turning my head slightly, I looked towards the flash, and seeing nothing but the classroom window, I started to turn back. Then- it happened again. I whipped my head around this time and was rewarded with the sight of something black disappearing behind the edge of the window. I leaned forward in my seat, craning my head, trying to see where the black thing had gone… “What are you doing?” Suddenly I realized what a weird position I was in. Slowly I sat back in my seat and turned to look at the person who had seen me in that embarrassing position… Damn. It was my girlfriend. One blond eyebrow raised, Raina Hart looked down at me with a quizzical smile on her face. Man, she was a looker. Tall, willowy, and blessed with long wavy blond hair, she was cute even when she looked at me with a ‘you are so weird’ look on her face. Or so it looked to me. “…Not sure.” I finally replied. “Smooth answer.” She joked as she sat down next to me. “Now tell me what you were doing. The last guy who didn’t give me a straight answer ended up girlfriend-less.” Her smile made it look like was simply joking about what she had said, but I wasn’t too sure. “Seriously, I wasn’t really doing anything. Just thought I saw something out the window.” I shrugged as if it was no big deal. “Alright then.” Raina said. “Now then, I wanted to talk about our date Friday night…” I nodded and started talking with her about her date, but I couldn’t help but shoot a glance towards the window again. No matter what I did, I just couldn’t get the thought that someone was watching me out of my head.
Now, you may notice the story is quite short and vague at this point. This is because it is PART 1 of my Chapter 1; I am just setting the base for my story at this point. If you are despairing over the story so far, have no fear- Part 2 is sure to be more action-packed.

Hopefully it will be quality enough work that you guys can excuse the lateness of its arrival.
|Washington D.C.| Corner of North Vermont Street and E 13 Mile Road |2010|March|05|7:58 The tall, wind-swept man strolled casually down E 13 Mile Road, sharp blue eyes surveying the prim D.C. street before him. But this was no casual jogger or shopper; no, Warlock, as he was called, was not even human. The image of a sandy-haired man, of average height and weight, was an illusion. Warlock did not find the spell pleasant; as always, spells cast upon his own skin made gooseflesh all over his body, and, being a spell Warlock himself cast, it was constantly draining his energy, minute by minute. Every second spent keeping this illusion up was another second used up by a parasite. Warlock would not be able to hold up this spell for much more. But he would not have to hold it up for much longer. The target was in sight. A tall, traditional-looking brick-and-stone school lay just a few blocks down the road, at the intersection of E 13 Mile Road and adjacent North Connecticut Avenue. Warlock slowly breathed in, and then out. Yes, this was the place. Warlock could feel a strong aura around it- the sign of extraordinary power, the same aura he had detected when he had scouted the place earlier. Quite obviously one of the ingeniosusi de humani was residing there. A slight quickening of his pace. Warlock was now jogging towards the school, excitement lengthening his stride. He was getting close…so close… Boom. The doors of Woodrow Wilson High School flew open with a bang. The secretary, Ms. Lune, looked up from her desk, a startled look on her face. She peered out of the main office, set off to the side from the main doors, just in time to see a tall, intimidating man run by. Eyes wide, she hurriedly stepped up and away from her desk, quickly moving from the main office into the “commons area” a large cafeteria-style room that the main doors opened up into. The walls were ringed by classrooms, but in the middle were tables and chairs were the students hung out, talked, and had lunch- but not right now. Right now, all of the students were in his class, so the commons was empty now- except, of course, for Ms. Lune and that tall stranger. “Excuse me, sir?” Ms. Lune said tentatively. “Do you have an appointment with the principal or….?” Ms. Lune’s voice trailed off. She was staring at the man, a mixture of horror and fascination on her face. The man had abruptly stopped and had turned on his heel to face her. And his face…his face was… “What are you?!?” Ms. Lune cried. She tried to step back, but something had caught on her foot. She looked down and nearly screamed. A black-green tendril had grabbed her foot! Her eyes silently ran down the length of the tentacle, and saw it came from- The stranger smiled and the tentacle emerging from his long coat twitched, the tendril now entirely encircling Ms. Lune’s leg. “Ques da ingeniousus de humani pe?” The man asked, his voice oddly amplified. “My God…What the hell is going on?” Ms. Lune cried hysterically. She did not notice that the words were spoken in a language she did not know. Right now she did not really care about anything. Warlock’s eyes narrowed. He could see no information could come from this woman. Ms. Lune had time for half a scream before the tentacle completely enveloped her body. |New York| Unknown Location |2010|March|05|8:03 “Goddammit!” Ebony shouted, as the frightening image of a man, with some sort of tentacle, killed the school secretary transmitted to her laptop screen. She slammed a fist down on her laptop- Damn those outdated security cameras at Wilson High. If she had been able to get footage from the school quicker, she would have seen the Duel Spirit coming. She would have been able to scramble a strike team before the spirit could have gotten into the school. Goddammit!!! Ebony got up from her chair and crossed the room. There sat, on a simple metal table, eight different cell phones. She selected one and quickly dialed a number. Drastic times called for drastic measures. She had to get the one agent on scene to hold off the Duel Spirit until auxiliary forces could arrive. It would be a long shot if the agent could do so, but there were no other options. Ah! Finally. The phone was answered. There was no greeting. No, there was only one reason why Ebony would have called the emergency number. “Renegade, this is Ebony.” Ebony said urgently. “We have a breach in protocol, I repeat, a breach in protocol. A Duel Spirit had entered Wilson High. Protect the target at all costs.” |Washington D.C.| Woodrow Wilson Senior High School |2010|March|05|8:10 I suddenly jerked awake. For a second, I hold still, just waiting for my history teacher to start yelling at me for falling asleep in his class. But I couldn’t hear Mr. Jacobsen’s gravelly voice berating me. Instead he seems to be saying something about the Cuban missile crisis. I cautiously peered around and saw I had indeed not been seen falling asleep. Nobody was looking at me with humor or pity in their eyes, and Mr. Jacobsen was talking his way through a PowerPoint presentation. So what was it that had woke me up? For a few seconds, a strange feeling told me it was instinct, primal instinct that had woke me up. I knew danger was near. I tensed and- Half of the classroom exploded. I found myself thrust through the air, sailing clean through the room and colliding with the teacher’s desk. As I fell to the ground in front of the desk, I got a glimpse of the history class. The space from my desk back was a blackened mess, desks cracked, broken, burned, and, in some cases, still burn-ing. Students ran away from the destruction, screaming like headless chickens, while several other students lay motionless on the floor. Through all this chaos, I could see a man in a long black coat striding towards me. You know how I said trouble comes in threes? Well, make that strike two for me. In silent horror I watched the man come closer. At first, I thought this was some sort of terrorist act. But as he got closer, I realized it was much, much different. It was something, something…unnatural. As you could tell by his grotesque, green, mask-like face. I felt completely numb. This creature was coming for me, yet I could do nothing. All my arms and legs felt distant and uncontrollable. Sluggishly, in the back of my mind, I recognized the symptoms of shock, but I could do nothing about it. All I could do was watch. Watch as what looked like Death himself leaned over me. A long, tapered hand slowly reached towards me, a goblin face slowly smiled at me. Instinctively, I knew it was all over. The creature was here to kill me. s***. Strike three. I closed my eyes and waited for my end to come. Then suddenly I felt a hot breeze of air soar past my face, and an ear-shattering roar filled the air. Strangely enough, the afterlife felt like regular life. I still felt like I was in shock and I could feel beads of sweat work their way down my face. Wait a second. I slowly opened my closed eyes. I could see the destroyed classroom through my eyelashes, and it looked the same as it had a few seconds ago. Well, would you look at that. Seems I hadn’t been killed after all! But wait- what had that roar I heard been about? I glanced around and saw the creature on the floor. He was clutching his chest, while a person crouched over him, gun in hand. Wait- had he been the one attacked? Hope floated through my chest, and I rose slowly, about to thank the person who had taken down the creature. But then, at that exact moment, the figure looked up and my tongue caught in my mouth. No it couldn’t be- “Damon! Run!” Raina Hart shouted, gesturing with the pistol in her hand. “You have to get out of here!”

Quiksilver
Eh, sorry guys. I'm just not feeling it anymore. When I first started Zero Chance 1, I felt a inspiration to make this story. That inspiration has faded. Also, between schoolowork and planning a big-time RP (Coming Soon!) I just haven't had time, so...for now, at least, Zero Chance is in hibernation.
