Chapter 1 ----> "......... Do we have to Duel?"

Yuko Kitai sprinted down the hallway at a breakneck pace. The guards were right on his tail. He swung around a corner, and kept up his mad race.
His eyes darted around, looking for a possible escape route. He didn't see any doors, and he hadn't been in the part of 'the Facility' before. The guards and scientists didn't seem to like the 'Subjects' a whole lot......
Yuko spotted a door, off to the left a ways down the hallway. He saw what he had been looking for.The sign on the door said 'Deck Room'.
He turned his head back, seeing none of the guards had turned the corner yet. He sighed as he turned his shoulder, ramming the door with a full charge. The speed he had picked up made the door hinges scream as they were yanked from the wall.
Yelping a bit from the sudden pain and drop as he and the door flew through the air, Yuko winced for impact.
The door fell to the ground, and Yuko fell on top of it. Better than the floor, he thought, wincing a bit more as his shoulder sent a shot of pain through his body.
Getting up slowly, he ducked behind a corner, a bunch of lockers hiding him from view. A few guards came down the hall, and Yuko quickly dragged the broken door of the room behind cover with him, which sent another jolt of pain from his shoulder though him.
Seeing nothing immediately out of the oridinary, the guard that checked the Deck Room gave the okay, and they all moved out. Yuko sighed in relief. He slowly got back up to his feet, and stretched a bit.
Looking around the room, he spotted the locker he was looking for.
Labelled with a big '003' on it, for his status as 'Subject 003', Yuko placed his hand on his locker's palm scanner. He felt a bit of heat as the mechanism scanned his palm, and then requested identification. He fished in his back pocket for the ID card he had swiped off the scientist who was responsible for Yuko's tests.
The sound of locks un-locking made Yuko grin. With a big smile, he pulled his Deck from the locker. Feeling warm in his hands, his Deck made him feel a lot more confident, even if Yuko didn't like to Duel.
He thought about the Facility, the horrible government-run organization that performed tests on people with psychic powers. Yuko, being Subject 003, was actually only the third 'sucessful' subject. The Facility's idea of a sucessful subject was a bit strange however, their requirement for sucess simply being the subject surviving training.
Yuko sighed, remembering the day he came here. That was his earliest memory, coming to this building in hopes of finding something to eat and a place to sleep. Why he would have needed those things, he didn't know. Whatever it was, it couldn't have been worse than the Hell he'd been put through here.
He winced as he remembered some of the harsher tests, the ones that had made his head ache and throb from using his psychic powers. He shook his head, banishing those thoughts from his mind. His Deck had been there with him, it was here with him now. He smiled, now ready for anything.
As Yuko came out of his reverie, he noticed something coming at him. Flying at his face. Fast.
He barely had time to duck as Johnny Kent's fist crashed into the locker, slamming it shut.
Yuko sprang back, tripping and falling to his butt as Johnny pulled his fist back from the locker, a giant dent where 'Subject 003' had been written.Yuko gulped.
"..... What's up, 3?" Johnny called to Yuko mockingly, rubbing his fist.
Johnny, like Yuko, was a test subject here at the Facility. Unlike Yuko, Johnny enjoyed it. Being 'Subject 002', the oldest remaining Subject at the Facility, Johnny was actually famous amonst the rest of New Domino City was well. As far as Yuko knew, which wasn't far, the Facility had worked out a deal with Sector Security. In dangerous cases involving 'rogue' psychic Duelists, the Facility would send Johnny to help Sector Security. As far as the population knew, Johnny was just a citizen who was an amazing Duelist, and had nothing better to do than play hero.
Of course, Johnny only did it for kicks. Most of which were inflicted upon the opponents who refused to Duel him.
The boy was a beast.
Yuko scrambled up to his feet, getting ready for Johnny to attack him. Surprisingly to Yuko, Johnny did nothing.
Johnny shook his head, activating the Duel Disk on his left arm. He motioned towards a table, another Duel Disk resting there.
Yuko's eyes widened.
"...... What?" He asked.
"It'll be no fun to beat the s*** outta ya, dumbass." Johnny explained. "Let's Duel. Ya win, ya walk, and I don't say a word."
Yuko sighed. "........ Do we HAVE to Duel?" He asked of Johnny.
Johnny nodded.
Yuko scowled, putting on the Duel Disk and sliding his Deck in. And if there was anyone I'd risk hurting with my psychic powers, it'd be you, he thought.
Johnny shook his head.
"You're gonna regret tryin' to bust outta here, Yuko." He said, as both boy's Life Points rose to 4000.
"Duel!" They both shouted, drawing five cards.

~

Yuko drew first, his hand bumping up to six cards total.
"..... I'll go, and start this Duel off by Setting a monster face- down. And I'll end my turn by also Setting a face-down card." Yuko said, setting a monster and a Trap.
Johnny grinned back, an aura of malice coming from him.
"I'm gonna break you, Yuko." He said, relishing every word, as if he'd dreamed about it for countless nights.
He drew, and slapped the card he drew down in a Monster Cards zone."I'll summon 'Justice Hero Stone Soldier'!" He yelled, a golem rising from the ground. Yuko looked confused, noticing the monster only had 100 ATK.
Johnny noticed Yuko's look, and activated the monster's effect with a dark grin.
"..... I can switch Stone Soldier's ATK with his DEF. That'll make his ATK 2500 until the End Phase." Johnny explained, raising his right hand, clenched in a fist.
His aura of malice extended, his psychic powers gaining strength from his emotions. Yuko winced as he felt the power coming off of Justice Hero Stone Soldier.
"Now! Attack, Stone Soldier! Golem Crush!" Johnny yelled, the golem going to strike Yuko's face down monster.
Yuko grinned, his 'Wing Cherub - Breeze the Beautiful' appearing in a flash of light, while Johnny's attack was halted. The bird-like monster squawked, glaring at Johnny.
Johnny's eyes widened."What tha f***?" He exclaimed, looking extremely pissed. "Why didn't mah attack destroy your wimpy bird?"
Yuko chuckled.
".... I can reduce Breeze's DEF to negate an attack." Yuko explained, Breeze's total DEF going from 2100 down to 1400.
"Wimp." Johnny spat, while he removed Stone Soldier from play to activate the effect of 'Justice Hero Metal Soldier' from his hand.
"By removing Stone Soldier, I can bring out Metal Soldier!" Johnny explained, his new mechanical creature coming to life from the light the golem left as it was removed from play.
Johnny smirked, setting a face-down card, and motioning for Yuko to go.
Yuko drew, and then chuckled.
Shaking his head, he waved off Johnny.
"..... Call it off now." He said. "Unless you wanna lose."
Johnny suddenly looked furious.
"No way in Hell, Yuko! I'm no b****! Keep Dueling!" Johnny yelled at Yuko across the room.
"..... Fine." Yuko said, activating the effect of a monster in his hand.
"With the effect of 'Wing Cherub - Chick the Fearless', I can Special Summon him from my hand by reducing his ATK and DEF to 100!" Yuko explained, summoning his strange little chick monster. It sqawked and jumped around happily, ignoring the metal behemoth staring it down.
Johnny laughed.
"You expect to win with pathetic excuses for cards like these? The Wing Cherubs were a failure as a series! The Justice Heroes are the Facility's greatest creation!" Johnny gloated, a superior look on his face.
Yuko suddenly looked pissed.
".............." Silence echoed around the room as Johnny's metal golem watched Yuko's birds.
"I'm not done yet." Yuko said finally, shattering the silence.
"Now, I'll tune my Level 3 Tuner, 'Wing Cherub - Breeze the Beautiful' to my Level 2 non Tuner, 'Wing Cherub - Chick the Fearless'!" Yuko explained, his monsters lighting up as he performed a Synchro Summon.
"Wisdom come with not just age, but experience! Wings of Knowlege and Hope! Synchro Summon! Age on, Wing Cherub - Hoot the Wise!" Yuko chanted, as his monsters gave birth to a card very precious to him. All his cards were precious, but some were incredibly important to him.
As Yuko's owl monster appeared, Johnny looked confused.
"..... That monster has the same attack as my Metal Soldier! It's only got 2100!" He exclaimed, wondering what Yuko was up to.Yuko grinned.
"I'm not done here." He said, activating a Spell card."Here! I fuse Wing Cherub - Rose the Petal and Wing Cherub - Fern the Bright from my hand!" Yuko yelled as his Polymerization spell brought forth another extremely precious card to him.
"Fusion Summon! Blossom with power, Wing Cherub - Violet the Flower!" Yuko yelled with a big smile as his fairy-like monster desended to the field.
Johnny's eyes widened.
"A Synchro monster and a Fusion monster in the same turn? What are the Wing Cherubs?" Johnny exclaimed, taking a few steps back.
Yuko grinned."My Deck!" He said in response to Johnny, activating the effect of Violet the Flower.
"With Violet's effect, I can sacrifice a 'Wing Cherub' monster to have her gain ATK equal to that monster's ATK!" Yuko explained, as Hoot the Wise left the field in a shower of light, and Violet the Flower's ATK rose to 4500.
Johnny's jaw fell open.
Yuko's grin faded, as his own aura whipped up. A serious expression darkened his face.
"..... Give up, Johnny. With my psychic powers, an attack like this could kill you." Yuko stated, like it was an everyday occurance.
Johnny had an eerie grin on his face, creeping Yuko out.
"I told ya, I ain't no b****. Hit me, Yuko. You'll be able to leave then. Don't give up 'cause you're afraid 'o hurting people!" Johnny yelled across the room.
Yuko winced.
"..... Fine! Violet, attack Justice Hero Metal Soldier! Petal Punch!" Yuko yelled, as Wing Cherub - Violet the Flower streaked across the room, connecting a punch with Justice Hero Metal Soldier's face.
The resulting shockwave knocked both boys back off their feet. Yuko slid back into a few consoles, sending spikes of pain through his shoulder.
"AARGH!" He screamed, clenching his fists and closing his eyes.
After a minute, the pain had died down enough to stand. He got up, to notice Johnny embeded in a wall. Blood ran from his lips, and from a wound on his head. Yuko instantly felt a pang of regret.
Just then, as Yuko was about to go make sure Johnny was alright, six guards came flodding into the room.
Alerted by the blast, they started encircling Yuko.
Yuko quickly put his Deck back together, ditching the Duel Disk. The Duel wasn't over, but Johnny had been rendered unable to keep Dueling. Yuko turned and ran for the one, large window the room had.
He halted as he saw what was below. A 100 foot drop into the sea below. Why did they build such a bigass building right on the waterfront of New Domino City? Yuko suddenly wondered, as he slid his Deck into a case on his belt, shattered the window with a punch, and flipped off the guards as he lept out into the air, plummeting towards the sea below.

~

A man in a pearl white suit sat in a dimly lit office. His window overlooked the sea, and he sat watching the waves. It was wonderful, really.
He spread a bit of caviar on a cracker, and plopped it on his toungue.
Just then, a secretary came bustling into his office. She looked flutered.
"...... Yes?" The man asked, staring down the poor woman.
She couldn't meet his eyes. Those horrific, yellow eyes. The eyes that could bore into your soul!
She stuttered a bit, before finally speaking.
"......... S-Sir, Subject 003 has escaped." She said in a low voice, before quickly turning around and leaving the office.
The man had no immediate reaction, retaining a flat look on his face.
After about thirty seconds, he started to chuckle. This chuckle evolved into a laugh, which grew maniacal. The echoes of his terrifying laughter resonated with the sound of new laughter, so it sounded like much more men than just one were laughing.
Then everything fell silent.
