* Do you live on after death from others talking about you?
If you live your life the way it was.
* Is it your legacy that lives on, you live in history books?
If you contributed to part of the society and is known for, then yes.
* You become a soul or entity and exist in some unknown state?
Actually, I am a soul you cant see with your own eyes.
* Is there an afterlife?
If people believe so then yes, but where I come from, there is.
* Why should there be an afterlife?
People think of an afterlife because they want to continue living then rot and die away. So they pass on.

Do you live on after death from others talking about you?

Yeah, that's pretty much the only way to become "immortalized".

Is it your legacy that lives on, you live in history books?

You don't "live" anywhere. You are located in history books, which is the only way people will get to know about you, outside of some loser browsing Wikipedia (aka me).

You become a soul or entity and exist in some unknown state?

Souls don't exist.

Is there an afterlife?

No.

Why should there be an afterlife?

There isn't.

I suppose you live on in some way. I plan to stay on earth and haunt wherever Kidz Bop is at and hopefully make them stop butchering music. If they were out of business before or I ran them out, I would find whoever I was dating or married to before my death and stay with her until her time comes then pass on with her.

Do you live on after death from others talking about you?

You only live on in their minds.

Is it your legacy that lives on, you live in history books?

I guess. I don't really get what this means. :-l

You become a soul or entity and exist in some unknown state?

I suppose. Such things are beyond human perception, so there really is no way to tell.

Is there an afterlife?

I don't see why not. I like to do something besides rot after I die.

Why should there be an afterlife?

Because non-existence is boring.

Do you live on after death from others talking about you?
No, you live on in others' souls and hearts. Some might not even care; it's all about those that you've made an impact on.
Is it your legacy that lives on, you live in history books?
You're only living if you're moving forward, instead of standing in the same place. Think of it as a book, your chapters in your life can be looked back on once finished, but nothing new comes out of it. I wouldn't call being in the same place living, even in a spiritual sense.
You become a soul or entity and exist in some unknown state?
That'd be wonderful, yes.
Is there an afterlife?
My beliefs say yes.
Why should there be an afterlife?
It'd be mighty horrible to fall to nothing. I'd like to know that the people before me, who have past away already, are in "better places".

My brain will rot, memories, personality, and consciousness will be all lost.
Living on people's memories/history books would be boring (even if they idealize me :3), and probably inaccurate.

There's also the possibility something else may happen; heaven existing, reincarnation, animism etc.
Then it'd be pretty awesome to perceive things from another perspective <3

But who knows~, the thrill is killing me, huh.

This thread was actually based on the logics of Plato and Aristotle, possibly the two most influential
philosophers into anything, and at their time, were almost Gods.

This thread just narrows down on their views of life and death, Plato believed the body and soul are two different things, your body is a vessel, or like a car on a journey. If it breaks down, you get a new one (reincarnation).
Aristotle believed that the body and soul are one, the body being the Efficient Cause and the soul being the Final Cause.
(Efficient cause : what it's made of, Final Cause: What's it for? what is its purpose?)
So the EC of a human is the body, and the FC is the soul, the soul shapes the body.
Much like a statue;
EC = Marble or rock. FC=the shape of the statue to be viewed and appreciated.
Or chair;
EC = wood, metal, FC = to be sat on at comfortable standards.

You can't take the wood out the chair or the stone out of the statue, otherwise it becomes nothing, same with the body, you take out the body, and you're left with the soul, with no form, only purpose.

If you read, and are interested in this kinda thing, there's more on Wikipedia or A2 Philosophy sites, it's quite bizarre what these Greeks come up with.

People die if they are killed.
Not all, some people are miracleously saved after being death, and just to notice, they've all afterwards stated that death, was a warm and good feeling, real, who knows?

Wow, someone thought this thread was about religion. <___<

What you don't seem to understand is that "immortilization" can only be achieved if you did something historical. If you are listed in a history book, everyone will learn about you, and you will thus "live" forever.

Barrack Obama did it. And so will I.

I DID NOT KNOW OBAMA LIVED IN THE BARRACKS.
