WHY THE f*** IS RUGBY IN AMERICA CALLED FOOTBALL, AND FOOTBALL IS CALLED SOCCER?

I don't know how many times I've argued this with my brothers, but they always stick to their defense, saying that "Well, it's because football came first, and soccer came later."

@JG I am American, and I think it should be called football over here. But some pricks came up with a primitive sport of tackling, and called it football.

Football has applied to many sports over the years. In fact, VK isn't entirely incorrect in calling rugby football as it was once referred to as a division of football(he's foolish for mixing it up with soccer in the first place). So the only real issue is that two sports named as such happened to stand to test of time.
