Alright, sorry about the long wait. The first chapter is finally up and I think you'll be happy with it. You'll also soon notice a difference between the RP and the Fanfic, being that the Fanfic is set in Mobius rather than our world. I just like it better that way.

[spoiler=Prologue: The Birth of Nightmares]A familiar form was passing through the hallways of Doctor Robotnic's newest base. This form was that of an anthropomorphic blue hedgehog wearing nothing but a pair of red, white-striped running shoes. His slicked back spikes bounced up and down as he sprinted along the hallway which was curiously devoid of robots. [i]"Man, something's GOT to be up if I haven't had to fight any of Robotnic's robots,"[/i] he thought as he continued along his way. For once, he actually managed to wind up exactly where he had meant to just by going down the hall. There were no traps or anything that should have impeded his progress. [i]"It's almost like Robotnic wants me to get to him..."[/i] At that point, the Anthropomorphic hedgehog made his way into a large, circular chamber in the center of which was a device holding the seven chaos emeralds in a circle surrounding a large glass sphere. The walls of the chamber itself were covered with cylindrical stasis tubes in which life forms could be kept alive indefinitely. The tubes were solid metal and as such the contents could not be seen. However, Doctor Ivo Robotnic himself stood just a few feet from the device, a wide smile on his mustachio face as he spoke whilst his right hand hovered over the control panel.

"Ah, so you have finally arrived, Sonic the Hedgehog. I've been expecting you."

Sonic looked the rather round doctor in the face and he smirked slightly.

"Well, glad to see that I'm welcome, now hand over the Chaos Emeralds."

"I'm affraid I cannot do that, you blue rat. Now, allow me to explain things to you. At the same time that I retrieved the Chaos Emeralds, I also had various robots take DNA samples from you and your pesky little friends. This machine here is used to take the power of the Chaos Emeralds and charge the DNA with it, allowing me to create an army of beings made from Chaos. Now, witness the power of my creations firsthand!"

With that, Robotnic pressed one of several silver buttons arranged in a ring on a control panel on the machine. Just a few feet from Sonic, one of the Stasis tubes began to open, a large amount of steam pouring from it in the process. Moments later, a being that looked almost exactly like Sonic emerged. The only differences being that it's fur was black and it wore no shoes. There was another thing that the blue hedgehog noticed seemed a bit...off about it but could not identify exactly. It slowly took a few steps out of the tube and turned it's head as it gazed throughout the room, as though confused by what was happening. However, as soon as it's eyes fell on Sonic, it stopped moving entirely and simply stared at the hedgehog. Sonic himself was startled by how similar it looked to him, and was looking rapidly back and forth between Robotnic and the Black Hedgehog. Robotnic let out one of his famous evil laughs as he pointed his finger directly at Sonic the Hedgehog.

"My creation, I command you, destroy Sonic the hedg-"

"No one may command me." The new black hedgehog said in a voice that was eerily similar to that of a villain sonic had vanquished in the past with the aid of another black hedgehog as well as a certain silver one. He now slowly turned about to face Robotnic before beginning to approach him, taking slow steps as he went. Robotnic was unable to speak as it dawned on him that maybe, just maybe he had created something which would not be subservient to his will.

"Wait, STOP. You...you must obey me! I created you!"

"You think I didn't hear your little monologue about how you planned to use me? I will not be made a tool of some pathetic little weakling like you!"

As he made his approach, he shot his left hand out to tear the nearest of the Chaos Emeralds from the machine, it just happened to be the red. As he did so, the machine began sparking uncontrollably. Sonic new from the fate that had met similar creations of Robotnic's that it was about to explode in a rather cataclysmic way. The blue hedgehog rushed forward, grabbing hold of the black one's right arm in an attempt to pull him back from the doctor.

"Come on, this whole place is about to blow up!"

"I don't need you to save me, blue rat!"

With that, the Black Hedgehog shoved his right hand into Sonic's chest, unleashing a concentrated pulse of chaotic energies into him that sent the blue one flying out into the corridor he had come from. Sonic was sent sprawling to the ground and he forced himself to his feet, just in time to see the Black hedgehog create a blade of the same energies from his right hand and drive it through the doctor's chest. At that moment, the first of several explosions to come erupted from within the room, sealing off the corridor with rubble. Sonic began fleeing down the corridor as quickly as he could, breaking the sound barrier and producing the enigmatic sonic boom which was quickly drowned out by several powerful explosions, each of which sent molten shreds of metal flying into the corridor. He sent himself hurtling out of one of several emergency exits on the doctor's headquarters as one of the malfunctions from the explosions triggered the base's propulsion systems and began to bring it slowly up into the air. Sonic stood there and watched as it was sent higher and higher, until it was torn apart by one final gargantuan blast which shook the very ground beneath his feet. The chaos emeralds were sent flying out from it, visible in the streaks of their color that followed them. The blue anthropomorphic hedgehog thought he might also have seen a few of the solid metal stasis tubes sent hurtling out. As he stood there, watching the rubble come crashing down, it finally occurred to him what it had been that he could not completely realize earlier when faced with yet another doppelganger. This one's eyes were red.[/spoiler]

[spoiler=Chapter 1: Revelation of the Shadows.]
[center][i]Five years later...[/i][/center]

Far outside of one of the few metropolitan areas that had grown up on Mobius, a familiar blue hedgehog had found a quiet place to catch a brief moment of rest in a time that had come to be defined by a seemingly infinite stream of brief moments of rest interspersed with equally brief moments of action. For some time now, the world had been relatively peaceful and seemed to have forgotten about him. A long sigh escaped his lips as he looked up towards the sky from his chosen point of rest beneath an oak tree that was likely many times older than he was. It wasn't long before he managed to catch the familiar pulsating sound produced by the spinning of a pair of tails. Turning his gaze from the sky, his eyes came to rest upon the form of an approaching yellow two-tailed fox, carried along by the rotor-like motion of his tails. The blue one immediately leapt to his feet, noticing the distraught look upon his friends face.

"What's wrong tails?" Our blue protagonist inquired, worry creeping into his own mind.

"It's the downtown vault," Tails said, bringing himself down onto his feet and ending the rotary motion of his tails, "it's under attack!"

"What!?" Exclaimed the blue hedgehog, his eyes suddenly widening as the implications of the previous statement, "Is the chaos emerald-"

"I don't know Sonic," Tails interrupted, turning about back towards the city, "I don't think anything has been taken yet, knowing this particular vault, Shadow's likely already on his way there."

"Well, what are we waiting for?" Sonic questioned as he took off at a dead run towards the city, grabbing hold of his friend's hand as he shot past, quickly bringing them both up to mach speed. He didn't know why the Chaos Emerald vault was under attack, only that there was no good that could come if the emerald were to be stolen. All that he could hope for was to arrive before it was too late.

[i]Meanwhile...[/i]

Alarms blared out from the high-security building as another familiar shape made his way into the building, looking upon a scene of carnage within. The black and red hedgehog known as Shadow turned his gaze across the entry-level security station within the building, the guards that had been present now remaining only as blood and entrails upon the ground and walls. He closed his eyes for a moment, before looking about and finding one of the many bulkhead doors simply pounded in and thrown to the ground. He recognized the danger associated with meeting anyone capable of doing that, and also knew that it would make sense to move as quickly as possible to catch them off guard. He ignited the rockets within his shoes, using them to shoot down the hallway at many times greater speed than could be achieved simply on foot. He passed through several doors which had been broken through in a similar manner, before he suddenly brought himself to a stop upon catching a truly curious sight. Before him stood an echidna, whom he could have easily mistaken for his acquaintance, Knuckles, were it not for two simple differences. The first, and most striking, being the white color of this one and the second being the fact that he wore no shoes or gloves while his arms, legs, and torso were wrapped in what appeared to be black bandages.

"Ah, so you did make it to the party," The Echidna stated as he turned about, before an expression of surprise came to his face in mid-sentence, "I was beginning to thi- wait a minute...who are you?" Shadow found himself confused at this question, but shook it off in the same moment as he cracked his neck from side to side.

"They call me Shadow," he calmly replied, preventing any emotion from showing upon, before bringing his hands up into a boxing stance, "and I intend to prevent you from taking the chaos emerald held here." The echidna could not help but smirk slightly at the though, bringing his own hands up in a similar stance.

"Well then, Shadow, my name's Ramses, and there's no way in hell you're stopping me."[/spoiler]

But in all seriousness, I'm [i]very[/i] wary of the plot here. Killing the main villain in the prologue is a very, very, very bad sign. Also, I'd ordinarily be wary of Ramses, but Shadow is such a bastard I almost hope he'll be a Villain Sue and murderize 'im.

And Shadow is seriously not that great a character that he has to be Stuified in every fic ever. Srsly. >_>

Sheesh, though, the chapters are short. My prologue is longer than this.
