Since it's just for fun you don't need to become super pro. Just practice.... ;D
Thanks . (: I am better at other photo editing. I am just trying to go into the more creative looking stuff, rather than just recolouring eyes, hair, and change the tone and colour scheme of pictures. Which is usually what I do.

Definately beginner work, but that's nothing practice can't fix. ;)

Not a very good picture to begin with anyways. :|

Except for the OP and LZ, you are all dumb as shit.

Tip for the OP: I know it probably looked better in your head, and the transition from the mind to GIMP is what got you. It may sound like basic, repeated shit, but looking up tutorials and downloading GIMP and PSD files will help you greatly in finding things that work really well with the concept in your head. The way that you colored the hair and eyes and messed around with what was probably the gamma setting just made it look pretty bad.

I was just messing around with the opacity of my colours. I created a second layer with a gray scale version of the picture over top of the original. I then created a white layer mask and continued to use the paint brush to paint over the things that I wanted the colour to show through. Do you have any ideas that I could try out ?

Well, you could make all color and placing adjustments then make a layer to fill with a greyish color, set it to Lighten (Not sure what the GIMP alternative is.) and mess with the opacity, then erase where it's unneeded.

I will try that. Thanks ! (:

I think he did consideringly well considering it was his first(?) edit. The hair looks kinda fuzzy on the edited version though XD
